Join me, the Gentle Yoga Warrior, as I invite you on a journey through the transformative power of self-reflection during this time of seasonal shift. As the darkness grows outside, we explore how balancing Scorpio's intense energy with introspection can guide us toward meaningful change and growth. We'll question the necessity of every technological advancement, while nurturing a trust in humanity's inherent goodness along the way.

Tired of the holiday rush pushing you toward materialistic indulgence? Together, we'll uncover how to reject these pressures and focus instead on cultivating self-love and setting healthy boundaries. As the new moon inspires us, we’ll harness its power to transform aspects of ourselves that no longer serve us. By adopting micro habits and setting clear intentions, especially during this introspective period, we open ourselves up to the unexpected and deepen our connections with ourselves and others.

Imagine renovating your life room by room, gradually embracing change with intention and ease. Through a calming meditation, we'll guide you to a serene forest where a majestic elm tree offers balance and presence. Let’s breathe mindfully in this safe space, releasing parts of ourselves we wish to transform, and honoring those we've lost with love and healing. As we nurture our inner beings, we learn to accept and embrace our imperfections, fostering a deeper connection with our true selves.

Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, I'm your host, the Gentle Yoga Warrior, and yeah, so I'm up nice and bright and early to record this week's podcast. So I love having guests on the show. I really love it. But it really suits my lifestyle at the moment to do some self-hosted ones. We have got guests coming up in the near future and it's going to be fantastic.

Speaker 1:

But also it's very kind of cathartic and healing for myself to do these self-hosted episodes as well, because I get to really connect with you as an audience, and that's all I ever wanted to do was connect with you, dear listeners, and and help you as I help myself on this journey, as we navigate through the folds and twists of this life which, for whatever reason, we are here now. And wow, is the world changing? From kind of not. And wow, the world is changing. The technology is scary, but both fabulous and it makes me try to dig deeper inside and try and have a bit more kind of trust in humanity, because I I just think sometimes we're just so self-interested in this world and and just because we can make things doesn't mean that we should. That's the food for thought. Well, that is not the theme of today's podcast, but I'm just interested to what what you think on the matter. Do drop me a line at shamanichealingearth and let me know your thoughts on that matter. So today is I wanted to wait till today to record the show because yesterday was Halloween.

Speaker 1:

Today is a brand new new moon. We're coming into the kind of dark times of winter where is where I record? It might be coming into the spring, where you are, and it's coming into the time of Scorpio, which can be very deep and caring, but also very volatile and the sting. So it's finding that balance during this time as we navigate through the winter months. But yeah, a new moon on some, some hay in, but new moon today as we're in in old saint's day. So there's a lot to kind of deal with at this time of year a lot of beauty but a lot of darkness. But that darkness really encourages to go us, to go within and go within ourselves and learn how to re-winter, as I would say. Or perhaps you are emerging in the hemisphere that you live in, you're merging into spring and you're finding your spring in your step. Either way, it's a time of transformation. So how can one learn to winter even if it's not the winter or if it is the winter like it is here, it's learning to kind of slow down.

Speaker 1:

I really think everyone goes crazy in this run-up to Christmas. It's like the world is going to end if all everything's not out of everyone's in tray on Christmas day and there's the kind of like franticness of, like materialistic, um pleasures that have been thrust upon us by industry, thinking that we need to buy all these presents for people, we need to buy all these things, and if we can't afford it or if we don't want to do it, somehow we're not loving, or if we want to buy all these presents and things for people and we really enjoy it, that there's a guilt with that as well. So I'm not here to judge, and whatever feels right for you is what you do. It's not my job to tell you what to do in life. You can decide what's best for you. I would say that we do put this extra unnecessary pressure on ourselves, thinking that we must buy all these things and, being a person who has generally been like the buyer for um many years, it sometimes. I just remember sometimes I had to buy gifts in the past and I didn't have any. I had like hardly any money at the time and I was just thinking, how am I going to get these gifts? And then, um, I, I kind of got into debt by the gifts and then I felt really, um, what's the word? Guilty afterwards, but then also obliged, but also at the same time I wanted to get these gifts and I remember it being really hard. And then one year I just decided to make everyone homemade chocolate and, um, most people received it.

Speaker 1:

Really well, I digress a bit, so let's get back to the theme. So getting into our depth and into the darkness of this time and also kind of putting up our protection and boundaries as well, like we do not have to let other people like kind of throw their stuff at us. Can we instead invite this inner love for ourselves, where we put healthy boundaries down but also we're willing to navigate deep within ourselves and discover all our shortfalls and, as they say, warts and all, but also kind of love ourselves unconditionally? So it's about transforming, going within, really trying to get taken, that kind of. The positive aspect of the Scorpio energy is that you go deep within and you try and kind of find your truth. But to find your truth is, as we learn, to rewinter, is to get into the stillness of the time and the stillness of where we are right now within our beings, and can we learn to find that stillness within ourselves, right now, that stillness within our beings, and as we learn to navigate that?

Speaker 1:

That is a question that I would like you, if you can, to answer. Can you really get within the stillness of yourself? How do you get in within the stillness of yourself? What is the thing that you can do today to get into that stillness, as the nights here start to get longer and longer and the light gets less and less? Or if you're in a place where the light is getting more and more, can you navigate some stillness in your area of the world where there is a lot of light? So just because it's light all the time doesn't mean you have to be on the go all the time. In the same way, just as it's getting darker, it isn't. You're not going to sleep all day, are you? But you're going to kind of work with that energy, that kind of stillness, that peace, that pause which is needed whether it's really light or really dark.

Speaker 1:

But as we come into this rewintering of our being, can we go deep within ourselves and learn to love that which we kind of don't like about ourselves, and can we transform it, can we transform our being? So just say like you think I overspend. Can you learn to love that aspect of yourself? But also change that by making micro habits, small habits, where you pause maybe before you buy something and think, do I really need it? And I get that sometimes when I'm really trying to save and then everything runs out at once, doesn't it? You can't you kind of get your paycheck and you think actually I'm going to do this, and then everything's run out at once and then there's all.

Speaker 1:

So I would say prepare for the unexpected. There's always unexpected things or things that we might have forgot that we needed. Like, maybe like your face cream lasts two months and it runs out, or you need to um MOT the car, or you need to um mot the car, or you need to resurface things, or you need to kind of like um, learn to kind of be in the moment with yourself. So by being in the moment with yourselves, you're learning that you can take a pause before we buy things maybe. Maybe you kind of need to budget a bit more and see what you need to get, because that is just an example. If, if the thing is overspending, maybe it's not, maybe it's you you eat too many sweet things again. Can you pause? The list is endless. Perhaps you're really aloof and you're not, but you're not approachable to anyone and you feel lonely. Can you stop making micro habits to connect with people that you trust and are kind and caring within your life? So there's all these ways that we can master things.

Speaker 1:

But it is a new moon today as I put this episode out, and even if you're listening to the future and it's not a new moon, you can look on a calendar to when it is the next new moon, but you can still use that energy or still use that intention. What intention do you want to set today for this new moon? What is it that you want to help you move forward? And I, I suggest right, it's just try and do one thing. As humans, we think we, we are flawed and we always will be right, but we're not, and we always think we need to fix ourselves, but we are who we are. But, and we always will be right, but we're not, and we always think we need to fix ourselves, but we are who we are.

Speaker 1:

But at the same time, yes, we do want to change things, but let's not try and change the whole world at once, like that's not, like you wouldn't renovate a whole house at once, do every single thing in it. You might might kind of do one room at a time, or might do one thing at time, but don't try and do the whole thing at the time, or you're just going to end up with a load of rubble and you're going to want to give up. So these are my top tips for you to do on the new moon is find some time to sit still, get a journal and write down maybe five things that you would like to change in this new moon and then dig a little bit deeper and pick one. Find time to rewinter yourself that is, finding moments of stillness and calm again and think of five things that you really like about yourself and remind yourself about that. And then perhaps I don't want to overload you with stuff perhaps you could write a few lines each day of how you implemented that micro habit, of how you're going to change into your day, and see how that takes. That takes you on your journey through this new moon in the dark and powerful but also kind of stingy Scorpio energy, which is often misunderstood and, when in balance, is a beautiful, fantastic, flowing energy, but it's when it's not out in balance that it can have a bit of a sting with it. So again, no fear, no fear, just navigate. Let's go through this beautiful new moon as we watch the leaves as they fall from the trees, and it's a very, it's a powerful time for trees because when they start getting ready to hibernate right, they find, as trees do in their own way, very different to how mammals hibernate, but the leaves are falling and things like that. So let's do a meditation now and, yeah, so we're going to close our eyes. Top tips for the meditation is either sit nice and cross-legged on the floor with a nice straight back always nice to sit on a block or a cushion or that's not available for you you sit in a chair with the back nice and straight. The important thing is you're not slouching and if you're doing something that requires you concentration, all you need to do is just pause this and you can reconvene the meditation at a time that is good for you.

Speaker 1:

If you're doing the meditation, let's begin. We're going to take some slow, calm, deep breaths in and out through our nostrils. Imagine, as you close your eyes, you're in a beautiful, dark forest. At night, the sky is full with beautiful, shining stars and despite the new moon, the shot, there is light from the stars. For you are in a forest, that is, in an area with no light pollution. It is dark but full of beautiful, beautiful stars.

Speaker 1:

And as you make this imaginary walk through this beautiful forest, at first you feel a bit frantic because you can see little animals' eyes and you feel a little bit vulnerable in this darkness. But as you walk you come to a beautiful, gigantic elm tree. The tree goes on beautifully up towards the sky, but this elm has a very calming energy, energy even though elm trees are often associated with the underworld. But this elm has the underworld, it has the up world, but it's very firmly planted in the here and now. But you will navigate and sit underneath this imaginary tree and as you sit there you start to connect with your breath.

Speaker 1:

You breathe slowly in through the count of five, you pause and you exhale for a count of five, knowing that you can always change your breath. You, you just work with how your body is. So you inhale, you exhale and as you inhale, just think of one aspect of yourself that you would really like to let go of or to change in this new moon, and as you exhale, you surrender it to the earth and you just sit and you just be, just for a little longer. And now, as you slowly come back into the moment, come back knowing that it is a beautiful new moon and, as a final note, a time to remember those that we have lost and send them love and healing wherever they are. And the time to remember to connect with your inner winter, your inner self, as you dive deep, deep into your wonderful inner being.
