The spring equinox doesn’t ask you to hustle harder, it offers something rarer: balance. I’m the Gentle Yoga Warrior, and today I’m sharing the quiet moment that sparked this reflection a tangerine early sky, birds moving through their morning, and that calm space before the human world gets loud. That pause becomes our entry point into the meaning of the spring equinox, a seasonal transition honored across cultures for centuries.

We break down what the equinox is in simple terms: the point when day and night are equal in length, rooted in the idea of “equal night.” I connect the science of Earth’s tilt with something more personal and practical, how we can use this time as a mindfulness reset. We also touch on why places like Stonehenge were aligned to solar events, and what that says about our long human habit of searching for meaning in light, dark, and change.

I guide you through a calming equinox meditation set in an imagined forest, inviting you to feel the balance between action and being through the steady rhythm of your breath.

If this helped you feel even a little more grounded, subscribe, share the episode with someone who needs a reset, and leave a review so more listeners can find the meditation.

So hello dear listeners, I'm the Gentle Yoga Warrior. The inspiration I took from the for this podcast was that I felt the urge to get up extra early this morning, which I haven't slept so well the night before, but for some reason I had to really get up early, and it was well worth it as I looked out across the sky at the early morning sky, it was this beautiful tangerine colour, and you could see the birds and things going about their business, and it was a time just before everywhere gets busy, so there wasn't so much sounds from people but more from nature and the beautiful sky, and I thought wow, the energy feels really really good, and then of course I thought it's the spring equinox in two days' time, and I thought, wow, this is brilliant. This is why, as we step into a very special time of year, the spring equinox, and this time has been celebrated since ancient times across so many different cultures. And the spring equinox, what does it what is it and why does it actually matter in our very hectic way of living that we do these days? So the spring equinox falls around the 20th of March or the 21st, depending on the year, of course, and it marks a moment when the day and night are equal in length. So you know in the winter the the night nights get longer. Well, it's actually a time where now in the spring where they're the same length, and equinox come is if if you look at the Latin origin of this, it means equal night. And I think that's very beautiful. If you're going to look at the science behind it, the earth is tilted on its axis as it orbits around the sun. And there are two points in the air when this happens, and more or less most people on the earth will experience 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. So it's a moment of absolute utter balance, light and dark, night and day. So this synchronized balance. If you think of like the scales, like like the old-fashioned scales, when people used to weigh flower, etc., it's so balanced in the middle. So, whereas when it was all dark at night, we wanted to sleep more, and when it's really sunny, we want to be awake more. Whereas this is a wonderful balance of equilibrium and peace, and it's a sign that we are transitioning from winter in the northern hemisphere, and the days are getting longer. Oh, the wonderful signs of blossoms and things like that, and the birds are singing everywhere, and it's a time to kind of dust off the cobwebs, you know what I mean? It's kind of just time to like let it all go. And I drive past it quite often, but in Stonehenge, unfortunately, Stonehenge was beautiful, but for some reason, some very stupid decisions were made that you can drive right past it. It used to be such a beautiful place, it's still beautiful, but they've put this road that goes right past it. I just hope, like in a hundred years' time, that people have seen sense and that there's no roads going past it. But anyway, I'm getting back to my point was that Stonehenge is aligned with the solar events of the equinox, so it just shows you how important this landmark is. But let's remember the beauty of Stonehenge and how it is lined up with the solar events of the equinox. And the spring is so powerful because it brings this wonderful life into the world. In the same breath, if you're in a different part of the world, you are working away towards winter, and that is also a time of balance between night and day, and that is beautiful too in its own way. So the equinox is like a ah, just a moment just to be, just to check in with yourself, and I think it's a very, very, very powerful time for you, dear listener, in this modern world to kind of find that balance that you are so desperately in need with. Think about how you can bloom with your seeds. So if you're coming into winter and you're living in a different hemisphere, how you can kind of hibernate for the winter and emerge the following year with what you need. So, dear listener, as we step into this new season, start to notice and let things grow in a pace that feels right for you. Life may be hectic and modern and crazy, and so much AI and so much distractions, but can you find your wonderful equilibrium and beauty of your soul in this time where there's so much fast pace? My tips for what you can do for the Equinox is take a walk in nature, get up early and set your intentions for this next period of the year. Just maybe a few things that you want to do. You don't have to do big things, but just think I'm going to connect with nature more. I'm think of things that are going to be nurturing, I'm going to help the planet more. I'm going to find ways to find magic in this beautiful day. So please, if you can get outside in nature on the equinox, I think that's the best thing that you can do. And even if it's just briefly, just have that moment, take a nice, calming, deep breath. Allow the beautiful and wonderful magical spring to unfold, as it gives us a reason for being, a reason for life. And as always, here is the meditation inspired by that. Top tips for the meditation is either sit nice and cross-legged on the floor with a nice straight back. Always nice to sit on a block or a cushion, or if that's not available for you, you sit in a chair with the back nice and straight. The important thing is you're not slouching. And if you're doing something that requires you for concentration, all you need to do is just pause this and you can reconvene the meditation at a time that is good for you. If you're doing the meditation, let's begin. So, dear listeners, as you sit and you imagine yourself in the most beautiful forest. This forest, depending on what hemisphere that you live in, is either just about to burst with life with fresh buds and nature or it's about to shed its leaves for winter. Either way, you are at this pinnacle point of equilibrium and balance. The balance comes from you being in this very moment, and as you sit there you see these most wondrous, beautiful rays of sunlight. Balanced by knowing that the day will be as long as the night, the night as long as the day. And this symbolizes the balance between action and being and remembering that being comes from stillness. So as you sit there in this imaginary forest, can you just allow yourself to be without any expectations? And you do that by following your breath. As you inhale, as you exhale, finding this perfect balance and beauty. As you inhale, as you exhale, this softness, this joy. As you slowly come back into the moment, come back into the room. Thank you for listening, dear listeners. Thank you so much.
