Here's a non-exhaustive list of really annoying things that are exclusionary, mean, shame-inducing, or just plain stupid:

  • equinox not letting new members join in January
  • the way people talk about food
  • the way people talk about bodies
  • all or nothing mentality
  • the idea of excuses vs reasons
  • the focus is all about smaller, tighter, fitter
  • racism, white supremacy, and exclusion
  • mean and toxic studio culture
  • people not eating carbs
  • fitness instructors, trainers, and health coaching trying to diagnose, treat and cure LITERALLY EVERYTHING
  • children & adolescents with body image issues
  • people thinking they need workouts over therapy
  • lack of representation

This week's topics isn't pulled from one particular previous episode, but many that we’ve talked about through all seasons.

You can’t talk about fitness without talking about wellness, boundaries, fear and courage, privilege, cultural appropriation, yoga, kids in schools and the failure of PE class, body image, gender and sexuality, community…all of it.

We have a feeling this one may need a part two in the future...

Conversations in Courage is where we lean into transformation, leadership, and social justice. If this episode moved you, share it with a friend and leave a review so more people can join us.
