At every turn he faced adversity but he believed in himself and overcame the obstacles and persevered. The average career of a Major League player is 5.6 years. David Dellucci lasted 13 years. Skip Bertman wanted him to walk on at LSU. Even though he led the SEC in hitting his senior year at Ole Miss he was not drafted until the 10th round. He had a fire within that could not be put out.
