Caregivers - The Mind Center

I never knew thought much about Caregivers until recently when I had a conversation with a family member taking care of her sister. Caregivers to me were in the medical field and were mostly associated with hospice, those that came in to help someone at the end of life. My view was totally wrong!

The Mind Center located in Jackson, MS has a program called Caregiver University where they educate family members, friends, and in some cases, others to become caregivers. I learned that caregivers can give up a tremendous amount of personal life, get stressed, both personally and financially, and need help themselves sometimes.

I sit down with Dr. Kim Tarver of the Mind Center to discuss the wonderful things they are doing at Caregiver University. The Mind Center is associated with the University of Mississippi Medical Center. In my conversation with Dr. Tarver I gained a whole new respect for caregivers and hope you will too.
