Pursue Him

Does God Really Care About My Sacrifice?

August 08, 2021 Derrick & Kim Dsouza Season 3 Episode 39

Do you think God is unaware of the sacrifice you make? In today's episode Pastor Derrick Dsouza shows us how the tears of sacrifice laid on the altar will never be lost or forgotten.

We all know the story of Abraham. 25 years after the promise of a child was spoken to him, God blesses Abraham and Sarah with Isaac. However, after some years, God asks Abraham to sacrifice his only son to Him at Mount Moriah.

With no questions asked, early next morning, Abraham set out with his son to Mount Moriah. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his one and only son. However, we see how God spared Abraham’s son, and He Himself provided a ram for sacrifice in his son’s place. Abraham called that place – The Lord Will Provide (Jehova Jireh).

Does God really care about your sacrifice?

The Christian life is a life of sacrifice. Many times you have to say no to the desires of the flesh, the pleasures of this world, and even relationships that hinder you in your walk with the Lord. Often the enemy brings in discouragement that makes you wonder if your sacrifices really matter or if God really cares about your sacrifice.

But here is the Truth- God honours your sacrifices, and they speak on your behalf even long after you have gone.

God provides mercy

The story of Abraham proves this. Have you ever wondered why Abraham called the place “The Lord Will Provide? God had already provided a ram for sacrifice, yet Abraham called the place “The Lord Will Provide”. Well, that’s because the story doesn’t end there.

Almost 1000 years later, when the Lord sent a plague on Israel as a result of king David sinning against God, the Bible says God stopped the angel of destruction at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

Guess where this threshing floor of Araunah was located?

At Mount Moriah. This is the same place Abraham called “The Lord Will Provide”. And that day God provided David and the Israelites mercy. (Read 2 Samuel 24)

Obeying God, on that day, David bought that land and built an altar there.

God provides materials

Some years later, God raises Solomon to build the First Temple for the Lord at the same Mount Moriah (2 Chronicles 3:1-2).** God once again provided for all the raw materials to build the great temple of Jerusalem through David (1 Chronicles 22:5-19). Hence, once again, at the Mount of the Lord, “it was provided”.

The story doesn’t end there.

God provides His Son

Fast forward 4000 years, at the same location, God the Father provides His only Son (the most worthy Lamb of God) as a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of humanity. Once again, at the Mount of the Lord, the greatest sacrifice was provided.

Are you still thinking God is unaware of the sacrifices you make?

Think again!

He is the God who sees every little sacrifice you make, and your sacrifices will speak on your behalf. The higher the sacrifice, the greater the Glory. Remember, the tears of sacrifice laid on the altar will never be lost or forgotten.

May the Lord be your Jehovah Jireh. As it was on the Mount of the Lord, where there is a sacrifice, there will also be divine provision.
