Our stories this week include: (1) Pope Francis' current trip to Canada, the focus of which has been on apologizing for the injustices suffered by Canada's indigenous peoples (in particular, abuses suffered by children in Canada's Residential Schools system); (2) new restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass in two U.S. dioceses, as well as the alleged shutdown of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago by Cardinal Blase Cupich (reportedly effective Aug. 1); (3) a mixed message from the Vatican regarding the German Synodal Way, plus a concerning synod report from Luxembourg; and (4) Vice President Kamala Harris' concern that "women are getting pregnant every day in America and this is a real issue," since the authority to regulate or outlaw abortion has been returned to individual States via the Dobbs decision.
