Nia: Welcome! And thank you for checking before you check out. I'm Nia- Spoken Soul Artist, Author, Love Advocate, and your host this evening as I come to you just dripping in love energy. I am so excited because we are about to start our series on Taking Back Our Power (a 3-part series) and we start to night with Part One: Awareness.

Think about how often you charge your cell phone in a day. Now think about how often you check in with yourself in a day. It's kind of interesting that we put more energy and time into keeping other things at their optimum performance, their optimum power. We're always looking for ways to clear space or have more space... but do you do the same for yourself?

I think regular check-ins are important because they provide us that time to recharge and reconnect. Frequent check-ins also help you regulate your own energy, your own moods. It helps you check yourself first. "See feelings are personal and Baby, nobody is going to save you and that's alright, because you don't fucking need it."

That's why I need you to remember who you are.

See, some of you may be going through a lot right now. There's not just a lot going on in the world. And the heavy of all of the news that is in our faces day after day. But many of you are also going through your own shit personally that makes that heavy... just that much more intolerable. How often throughout the day are you really checking on yourself?

Nia: When was the last time you asked yourself, how are you, how is your spirit right now in this moment?

The phrase, the question "How are you?" is one of the most important and overlooked intentions in our day? Think about it like this- How often, without a passing thought, have you quickly responded to the statement-  "How are you?" I'm fine. I'm good.

We speak power every day to mediocrity; we speak power to complacency. We speak power to our pain on a daily basis without true acknowledgement and in those moments, when we do that, we are normalizing our current condition. We are giving power to the idea that where I am right now is... okay.

If that's not how you really feel and you are really not okay with where you are right now. Then maybe... you might take the time to answer that question with a little bit more awareness. Because what you say after it has YOU in front of it.

So who you are is definitely aligned with how you are. So let me ask you again, how are you, how is your spirit today?

Nia: I get it. Life gets real. Shit gets real. And we forget in those moments how to shine our love light. We forget who we are. That's why it is so important in those moments to check in with ourselves. Not only is this important for yourself, but like attracts like- or in this case- light attracts light. So how can you even begin to manifest what you want if you're not focusing your light in the right direction?

And in those moments when you simply just can't. I've simplified the process for you to help you along the way. I believe it is important that we learn how to build this muscle of awareness as we take our power back.

And I plan to show you why and how to do that.


So I've created a Love Frequency Meter  (Check In Meter) that I use as the easy way for me to check in with myself in those moments when I feel like I've lost my voice. 

  • If you're feeling at LEVEL 5 (that's what your love frequency is)- You are in love with your spirits, with your decisions. Wherever you are in your life you feel good about that. Keep doing more of the same! 
  • LEVEL 4 is trusting the process. - In this level you are more open to change. It kind of feels like you're seeing more alignment in your life and your experiences. You recognize that growth is happening or that it is possible. And you're excited about the possibilities! 
  • Now, LEVEL 3- This is the SOS level; this is the hopeful level here. This is when your energy kind of feels like... shit's not easy. It's not going the way that you had hoped. You are in pre panic mode, but you're hanging in there. There is still hope!
  • LEVEL 2- If you find yourself here- you either don't care, you don't know, or you don't give a fuck. If you are at Level 2... this is not the time for you to receive any advice on how you feel. It is important, though, that you honor this space. And I actually love Level 2. While, to be real, if you're at a Level 2, there may not be much that anybody can do for you. But this is the place where you're at your biggest (greatest) opportunity for transition... for growth!
  • And the final step or level, LEVEL 1, is numb- In this step you just need time. There's no movement in this phase. And it's also important that you are compassionate with yourself when you're at Level 1. That you are not down on yourself when you feel yourself here. We all experience Level 1 days. The most important part about Level 1 is you can not get stuck,  because in Level 1 there is no help. When we are here we build walls and light is not allowed in or out. It's all about us here!! And because it's about you- it starts with your will to try. How much do you really love yourself? And if you do prove it, prove it by bringing awareness to where you are with your levels. 


We all fluctuate between all of them. Sometimes in a given day- we hit all of them twice but there's always one that seems to carry the theme of your day. And know that at any level it's okay- where you are. The first step is just identifying where you are and being able to be okay with that. See, because once you determine where you are it'll help you know where you're going and the steps that you need to put into place to increase your frequency.

See that's how you shine your light.

So when I ask you how you are or how was your spirit really give yourself just a few seconds and think on a scale of 1 to 5- with one being a low vibration where you were so numb. This is your time of solitude; you need you right now. All the way up to the highest level of love frequency Level 5- you are completely in love where you are right now. How do you feel?

Nia: Dear Love, I want you to know that you have taken an enormous first step in taking your power back tonight. No one ever said this was going to be easy, but you will get better. We will get better as we go on this journey together. 

  1. Be compassionate with yourself. 
  2. Give yourself time 
  3. And use the Love Frequency Meter (Check In Meter) to check in as often as you need.


Now, I know what you must be thinking. Nia, what the fuck am I going to do with this new found awareness? Don't forget to check in with me next Wednesday, where we take this awareness one step further. And I'm also going to tell you about the time I almost had electroconvulsive shock therapy because of a breakup... I know... I'm extra, but it's a good story, I promise.
