Native Americans considered a white deer to be sacred, and a bringer of good fortune. Even today, most hunters consider it to be very bad luck to shoot a white deer. Overall, the deer has played a vital role throughout history as a source of food, shelter, tools and clothing. They represent survival, protection, wisdom, fertility, sensitivity, and intuition. across cultures the deer is a positive symbol with its velvet coat, soft, wet snout, shining deep brown eyes hooded in long lashes. The deer's very nature is symbolic of innocence, peacefulness, and renewal. In Christian art, deer are often shown trampling snakes as a sign of destroying evil. A deer drinking at the foot of the cross, or near streams is representative of souls searching for God in the same art. Deer are also common symbols in Buddhism. A pair of deer are frequently pictured at the feet of Buddha, because his first teachings were at Deer Park. It was also believed that in a past life, Buddha incarnated himself as a golden stag, whose goal was to die and to soothe humanity. In China, the deer is a symbol of education, success, wealth, and a long life. According to Chinese legend, the deer has discovered immortality and can pass it on to humans, believing that a deer turns blue at 1000 years old, white at 1500 years old and black at 2000 years old. Legend says that a person who consumes a piece of meat from a deer in any of these colors will survive to the corresponding age. In Japanese folklore, a dark brown deer represented good health and a long life. In ancient Japan, there were fortune tellers that read the future by burning a deer shoulder blade over a bright fire, and then interpreting the bone fractures. In Greek and Roman mythology, the stag or male deer was thought to be able to identify medicinal plants, so it was considered a symbol of healing and recovery. The deer was also a symbol of Mercury, Rome's God of wealth and communication. The human soul and connection between the material and spiritual worlds was also a belief in Rome. The male deer or stag is admired across the world for its towering tree-like antlers representing fertility, regeneration, the flow of time and rebirth. The female deer is known for its gentle spirit, and loving others as they are. Be willing to also love yourself and face your fears with compassion. Dear spirit is transformational, Swift, graceful and aware. Between them the dough and stag balance the masculine and feminine energies. The stag is strong, courageous, dignified and proud. His fabulous antlers symbolize dominance and power. The growth of antlers in the spring signifies birth and renewal when they fall off in the winter, this denotes death, introspection, or loss. stakes are connected to Archangel Michael, who connects humans who need strength and courage in their lives. They are soft, loving and compassionate. (Unless their fawn is being threatened, then not so much.) They are graceful, delicate with beauty and grace. Their soul mission is to teach trust and their service mission is to eat fresh grass and leaves in order to stimulate our ecosystem.
