When you want to renew the magical and wondrous nature of childhood, through the eyes of your inner child call on goose medicine. Overall, the goose is a loyal partner. Joyful, faithful to its family, brave and an excellent communicator. It travels long distances during migration, sometimes up to 1,500 miles a day. A goose will commit familiar landscapes to memory to revisit the following year, and it uses the Earth's magnetic field as a compass. The goose is self-aware, resourceful, and a great problem solver. The goose is a team player during migration. They are part of a community that coordinates travel so that no one bumps into each other or into another flock that's in flight. The goose is a monogamous animal, a faithful, loyal and dedicated partner that fiercely protects its young. The goose is also a symbol of persistence and survival. So, it's no coincidence that it is a common topic in mythology and folklore. The Goose was a powerful symbol of ancient Egypt, and represented the God of Earth and parenthood Geb.. All the pharaohs claim to have been descendants from this pivotal God. He was also the father of four main Egyptian deities. In ancient Rome mythology, the goose was a symbol of protection and guidance associated with the goddess Juno. One story tells of how a flock of geese sounded an alarm by honking at the invading army of Gauls in the fourth century BCE. These geese saved Rome by giving the Roman army enough time to mount a defense against that surprise nighttime attack. In ancient Greece, the goose was a symbol of love, passion, fertility and vitality. Eros, the God of love rode on a Flying Goose. In Native American symbolism, the goose is seen as a symbol of communicating, a symbol of teamwork and fellowship. For some tribes, geese symbolize the ”sacred circle of life”, representing birth, death, and the regeneration capacities of Mother Earth. In Celtic folklore, geese are seen as brave, fearless, and warrior spirits. In Chinese culture, giving a goose as a wedding present symbolizes a wish for the couple’s love to be as long lasting as that of a goose who has only one partner for life. Across various cultures, geese are often seen as spiritual messengers. In the Bible, they symbolize vigilance, loyalty, and protection. Geese are often connected to the concept of the Divine or divine intervention. Their presence can be viewed as the divine, offering guidance, and watching over us with protection. In Chinese mythology, their honking was said to represent the voices of celestial beings. Overall geese symbolism is with community, family, friendship, teamwork, and our spiritual journey. Geese are renowned for their long migration, the ability to press persevere for vast distances, sticking to their purpose with determination. geese have a variety of vocalizations allowed, all to the point for clear communication. They are known to balance their time between land, water and air, representing spiritual harmony and wellbeing. Their lifelong devotion to one partner teaches us about commitment, trust, and the power of love and loyalty. Their watchfulness and protection of their young and the protection of their territory reminds us to defend our beliefs, our values, and our personal boundaries.
