Your Awakening Journey with Jaimie Bahl

Darla McCann - Energy Healer ✨ Season 5 Episode 13

Today, I have the privilege of interviewing a longtime friend from the energy healing world I was around when she first got started and she was just absorbing everything. Today, she's an author, Reiki instructor and healing practitioner. Her name is Jaimie Bahl. Our topic is perfect for anyone on an awakening journey from the beginner to the most experienced. This is a comprehensive account that Jaimie is willing to share. She has great advice on such topics as showing up for ourselves, daily spiritual hygiene, mental health awareness and helpful support, tools and techniques. I think you'll really enjoy following along with her through an activity that she does with us to up our awareness and awakening. She also has a new book entitled “Holistic Journey of Evolvement” that I think is something you'll really be interested in, as we call in my friend Jaimie!

I am so excited to talk about the awakening journey for beginners, and you're just the ticket to do that, Jaimie. But before we jump into this conversation, will you tell the listeners a little bit about yourself and how you got to the point you're at today?

Speaker Jaimie

Yes, thank you. Darla, so I grew up in a loveless home. Both parents were addicts, and it consisted of emotional abuse, and I didn't feel loved and I didn't feel worthy. And then I would say, physically, it started about 13 years ago, so well into my adulthood and 30 something, I had been active with the VFW, not just the bar. There's a whole national level of programs. I had been at a convention with my friend Sharon, and we were chatting, and she showed me how to use my necklace as a pendulum, and I was so taken aback, because something inside me told me I'm not alone. And I was so fascinated. So then she happened to introduce me to a couple of her psychic friends. I had a reading with them. They informed me I was gifted, and already I was thinking, I want to be just like them, but what did that mean? Like, where do I start? How do I know what my gifts are? How do I learn them? How do I just, you know, jump into this, and those two psychics happen to have a monthly networking gathering to teach us about what I consider spirituality the whole big umbrella of it. And in time, I was presented with resources and events, and I just happened to attend them and dive into them and gather all the knowledge I

could. Because again, I was so blown away by this other world that I had no idea existed. And in turn, I happened to attend a guided meditation one night, and I felt the unconditional love of my angels. It was the most magical feeling ever. And I'm getting choked up just thinking about it, because for somebody who didn't know what love felt like, this was beyond anything I could ever imagine. And so I knew right then and there, that if I didn't know about this and they don't teach this in schools, how are we going to get the word out to other people? So I immediately had this connection to help others, and whether they're brand new on their journey or they've kind of shut it down, like, where do you begin? How do you start with this? And so it's just kind of become my passion, not kind of, but it is

Speaker Dar

A little aside for our audience…. That's how Jaimie and I met, and I kind of teased her that every time I saw her in the early days, she had a notebook, and she was definitely absorbing all the information she could. And now she's at the point where she can share with all of you, and in her recent ebook, she talks about showing up for yourself. Will you expand a little bit on that? Jaimie, how do we show up for ourselves?

Speaker Jaimie

Sure. Thank you. Darla, well, first of all, two quick intentions for this book is to serve as a manual of sorts, kind of just like introducing the basics of what I consider the awakening or enlightenment journey, with principles such as connecting with source, trusting your intuition, being authentic, standing in your power and loving yourself. And it encourages the reader to not only understand the importance of inner work, but to explore their interests on a deeper level. And so part of showing up for yourself is taking the time to research and to learn and to see what's out there. So basically, it's like if you physically go to the gym or take a yoga class, that's motivation and discipline. So is our emotional health. And so I want to preface by saying I don't always practice what I preach. I don't meditate every day, but knowing what tools are available is going to be the key start of getting that motivation and to connect with yourself and just know what's out there. And another key is to come back to making yourself a priority, creating a commitment. And I understand that that's not always easy for people, especially if you have a high stress job, or you have a family and you have duties, but the busier you are, the more your ego and fear is going to hold you back from stepping into that. So just know that making yourself a priority is not bad. It's actually probably one of them. Healthiest things that you can do, and then speaking of your ego, keeping you stuck, that's the fear, because you're in this zone of being comfortable with what you know, and because it is like a security blanket. You're afraid or you might not realize what's out there. And it's not like on purpose. It's not a conscious decision. So what you consider safe and what's familiar is where you're going to continue to stay. So

that's a choice that you're making. But your heart, which is your soul, knows that staying in our comfort zone doesn't always allow for change, and you know, so that's where you gotta just take that first step and just make that happen, even if it's a little step, and one of the first steps is feeling the emotions. We're taught to stuff them down, and when we do, they're eventually going to resurface. So forgiving and acceptance is important, especially to yourself and going through the emotions. There's a saying something about God, well, something. I should have written this down, but it just came to mind. Spirit wants me to share this, something about if God brings you to it, he'll get you through it. And I, I couldn't believe that anymore, because there's a purpose and a reason why you're experiencing something that your heart is telling you that it's time for a change. And so trust that and follow with that.

Speaker Dar

Yes, I agree with that. Would you discuss a little bit about what you mean by daily spiritual hygiene?

Speaker Jaimie

Oh, this is my favorite topic ever. This is the meat, the heart and soul of the ebook. So it's going to get a little detailed. There's five steps to daily spiritual hygiene. I'll go into each of them. It's going to be grounding, shielding, cutting cords, energy, cleansing and boundaries. And I realize that some of this might come easier for others, and I get that, but as long as you know what's out there is what's important. So just like showering and your physical body and we wash it, we brush our teeth, we take care of it. Our energetic bodies also need hygiene. Our minds are powerful, and when our bodies listen to our thoughts and emotions and feelings, especially how we speak to ourselves, because we are energy, our environment also affects us, even like the food we eat, other people's energy, the planetary alignments, everything is connected. Everything with a living soul, a heartbeat, a breath, anything that grows, is all going to affect your energy. Even the news, like, if you're watching the news and it's sad and depressing, and you carry that with you, and you don't know how to get rid of that, it's going to stay with you, and that's not healthy. So grounding is connecting yourself energetically to the core of the Earth, and what we call source, which is our divine likeness within us. You could also call that your heart space. It's about centering and feeling, being fully conscious. It's also about feeling fully present in the now and not worrying about the past, not fretting about the future. It's awareness of yourself, your body, your thoughts, and just recognizing if you start to speak negatively about yourself, stop and shift that and start using affirmations. And the benefit for being grounded is sometimes, if you feel lightheaded or flighty or anxious like sometimes, this is connected to anxiety. So the benefit is getting yourself into a place where you can focus. It also helps by not taking on unnecessary emotions or problems. It gives you stability and the ways that you can ground our breath, work, sound, healing, visualization, sometimes, like a common practice, as people imagine roots attached to the bottom of their feet, and they can send those roots down into the heart of Mother Earth and just anchor them there, and then just breathing in Mother Earth. Light crystals help. Sometimes, aroma therapy, certain oils might help to kind of bring you to that place of center. And then one of my favorite affirmations is that I am grounded, centered, aligned and focused. I am in the now. I now release all anxiety, fear and worry. And so it's simply just your intention. Just stay. It will help you get to that space. Part two, for daily spiritual hygiene, is shielding. This is also known as spiritual protection. We are energetic beings and again, sensitive to all energies around us, whether it's physical or non physical, whether it's physically present with us, or it's long distance, and dark forces are always attracted to the light. And the more you work on yourself, and the brighter you shine your inner light, you will notice that the more the darkness tries to seep through and win, if you want to say and so we don't want that clinging to us. That's how it thrives. That's how it breathes. It lives off of it, if we call it in and we let it stay so protecting our energy. It could be as simple as imagining a certain color bubble around you. A lot of people do like to use Archangel Michael's blue bubble. He is the archangel who is known for protection. That's like the basics you could even envision, like actual physical armor around you. Just whatever you resonate with. You can even just state it again. It's just about intention. So this will help keep you safe from energy transference, and it's also about freedom and reclaiming your light. This will also help you to not feel imprisoned by any pain, anger, guilt, depression, and it's just another way to be empowered. The third portion of spiritual hygiene, and I say daily, because this is a daily thing, is cutting cords. Cutting cords is energetically detaching yourself from a person's situation or outcome. It's basically severing negative or unwanted like emotions, attachments, connections that no longer serve you. And when you detach from an outcome, you're carrying the vibration also. So there, there's things called attachments, whether it's people who are throwing hate your way, whether it's fear, whether it's lack, whether it's doubt, and so again, you don't want to hang on to that. So when you do let go, or you shed, or whatever you call it, it does replenish your energy. It creates space and it gives you independence. It could assist by removing unhealthy habits, and it helps you to heal and with these experiences, if you're feeling upset when working with this, just know that that is your body's way of telling you keep going. There's nothing to fear, and it will create healthy boundaries in a way that you could cut cords. Another example is Archangel Michael. Just ask him to cut the cords. Now, when you do this, this leaves an emptiness, and it took me a long time to understand this. I didn't know what that meant, but when there's a hole or an opening or an emptiness, whether it's your physical body or your energetic body, you don't want it to fill up with the same gunk that you just removed, so you're going to want to replace that with anything you want. You can say love. You can say healing. You can say abundance. You can say joy, anything that lights you up. The fourth part about spiritual hygiene is energy cleansing. So you've grounded, you've shielded, you've cut the cords. Sometimes things still attach to you, and that's okay. It's just about learning or recognizing when that happens, it's basically washing away residue. It's being responsible for your own energy and how you carry yourself out into the world. We manifest the same energy that we put out or project. So this can include yourself, your aura, your energy field, your environment, your work, your home, your loved ones. And some people are starting to easily absorb the energy of others, consciously and unconsciously, because they're becoming more aware and more sensitive to the energy that's out there. And sometimes people can feel it. Sometimes they can see it, sometimes they just know it, and sometimes they don't consciously recognize it at all. But I guarantee you, if you're listening to this, you will resonate with and you will benefit because you're coming into your awakening journey. Because, again, I also attract people. Who are new on their journey. That's just been kind of a theme of mine. So I want to let you listeners know that you are on the right path, and I'm so glad you're here. So with the energy cleansing to continue my thoughts with that, keep in mind, like I said before, the plants, animals, crystals, food, water, everything is connected. And there's also a thing called a soul retrieval, calling back pieces of you that you have left with others, that's caused by lower vibrational thoughts, psychic attacks and patterns. So just get back into that rhythm of placing your shield and grounding and affirmations. And the benefit to this is, like everything listed before or like we've talked about before, it replenishes your energy, and it will help you to not feel depleted. It's again, owning your Power and Light, and you'll feel better overall health, clarity, focus and inner peace and how to cleanse. My favorite example for new people, and again, you can do this however you want. This is just one example. Is whether you're physically in the shower or not. Visualize white light pouring down over the top of your head, and it's washing away, and you can visualize it through your arms, down your body, through, you know, past your knees, out your feet. Just let it wash away. And some people take their arms and do the movement of it, washing them away. And that will help also The last and favorite part about daily spiritual hygiene is boundaries. I love boundaries. It's my favorite thing ever, and not a lot of people are comfortable with this, and I get that, but in time and with practice, you'll be able to come up with your own technique that is loving to yourself and to those around you. So basically, it's just referring back to all of the shielding techniques, placing limits and expectations on how others treat you and what's important to you. It's not giving others full access to you. It's okay to say, No, I'm trying to teach my youngest niece, who's nine, that no is a full sentence. It's a form of separating space, feelings, needs and responsibilities from others. The benefit is establishing a healthy environment that will help everyone involved. It's the way you interact with people, whether it's at home or at work or even with clients, it's okay to have boundaries with everyone. It's definitely a form of self care, and it gives you a form of healthy expression of your voice while feeling safe. It allows you to be authentic, and that is one of my favorite things ever is just being you and speaking your truth and how to place boundaries, similar to the other attribute, attributes, just connecting to your heart space. First, this will come from a place of love. Ask your spirit guides or angels to assist you whatever you believe in. Ask them to help you feel more comfortable speaking up. You can be specific with your wishes while being respectful. And most importantly, don't worry about hurting other people's feelings. Most will understand, and if not, then you'll realize why boundaries are necessary. And so that is my daily spiritual hygiene tips,

Speaker Dar

beautiful, very, very comprehensive. Thank you so much, Jaimie, we have a treat for the audience. Now I know that you're going to lead us through an activity to up our awareness and our awakening. So let's dive into that now.

Speaker Jaimie

Yes…thank you. So this is going to be permission based, because I am connected with Reiki right now, I'm asking that anyone who is willing to accept it just continue to listen to this portion. And if you don't feel like you want to be connected with this, that's fine, just fast forward through it. So what we're going to do is a breathing visualization, quick meditation. I'm going to walk you through the chakras. And while I do that, I'm going to explain what each one represents. A chakra is an energy center, an energy wheel within your body. We have seven main ones, and each one represents a specific area in our life. So if you will, please, if you're able to close your eyes, and I ask that you take three deep, slow inhales and then slowly. Exhale through each one. And as you're just coming into your body, relax your shoulders, relax your jaw, get comfortable where you're at and let your body fall into the chair or the couch or wherever you're sitting or on the floor, and just continue to breathe slowly. And meditation, you don't have to sit in certain positions. It doesn't have to look a certain way, as long as you just come back into the present moment. So the first chakra, I ask that you imagine a tennis ball sized light of red, and that is placed at your pelvic area. And as you continue to breathe, this ball is going to spin, and it's going to help remove any stuck energy. And each chakra is going to have the same thing. Tennis ball size of light, removing energy. This one is red for the root. Root Chakra represents safety, security, foundation and physical identity. It is connected to the earth, and continues to breathe in slowly and exhale slowly. This chakra forms our foundation. So like I tell my clients, it's like building a house once it's nice and strong and sturdy, then the rest of the chakras, once they're balanced, will have a nice place to land. It's related to our survival instincts and to our sense of grounding and connection into our bodies in the physical plane. And ideally, the chakra brings us health, prosperity, security and dynamic presence. It's the chakra where we hold lots of inner childhood wounds growing up, maybe we didn't feel safe, maybe we didn't feel secure. However, that may look for you. If you're willing to let go of any of those emotions. You may feel tingling too, because this works long distance. If you feel warmth, sensation tingling, if you're yawning, just know that it's the way of being released out of your body. So let that happen. Then we move up slightly above the pelvic area to the second chakra, the sacral This is about creativity, sexuality and self-gratification. It's related to the element of water, and it connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation and movement. Ideally, this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, and it's the ability to accept change. So continue to breathe, and we'll move up to the third chakra, the solar plexus, which is represented by the color yellow. It's about self-esteem, confidence, ego, identity and self-definition. This chakra is known as the power chakra. Oh, and I'm sorry I forgot it is located at the belly button area, if I didn't say that, it rules our personal power and will power. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness and spontaneity. And sometimes I like to work in the chakra with clients, and I ask them to have a core memory to ask them to think back who was the first person that told you you weren't worthy, and why do you let them give you that power? Why do you let them give that power back to them? So this is where you could, in your mind's eye and your inner voice, just tell that person they no longer have power over you, and you could ask for that energy to be transmuted right now and to remove that and take your power back, because that was a reflection of them, not you. The moving up to the heart My favorite is the heart chakra. It's green, and it represents self, love, compassion, forgiveness and self-acceptance. This chakra is the middle chakra. It's the bridge between the lower chakras, which are the earthly related ones, and then the bridge to the top chakras, which are more spiritual based. And with this, oh, I just took a deep breath. Just continue to breathe and release, because this chakra is associated with forgiveness that is for yourself, first and foremost, without judgment. And then it's also about forgiving others who have hurt you, harmed you, upset you. Doesn't mean that what they did was okay, but by forgiving them, you let go of that bind that again, gives them that power that they have over you. So then moving up to the throat chakra at the throat. That's the color blue. It helps to speak truth, public speaking creative identity and self-expression. This is the chakra located in the throat, and thus related to communication, of speaking your truth and placing boundaries. So when you connect to the heart chakra first and then ask to speak your truth, that's again, that's going to come from a place of angelic support, which will help give you the confidence to do that. So continuing to breathe, we'll move up to the third eye chakra, which is on the forehead that could be either purple or indigo, and it represents intuition, visions, spiritual gifts, and oriented to self-reflection. It's also known as the brown chakra brow, b, r, O, W. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. It opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels when healthy. It allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us to see the bigger picture. So continuing that ball of indigo purple light, we now move on to the top of our head, the Crown Chakra. I associate that with the color white. It's about connection and communication to spirit thought, universal identity and self-knowledge. It relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond to a timeless, spaceless place of all knowing. And when developed, it helps us with knowledge, wisdom and understanding of the spiritual connection and bliss. And so what I like to say is, like, it's a Batman signal, because our spirit guides, because we have free will, they can't always step in and help us, but this will help if you put out that signal and say, Hey, I need you come help me with this, or help show me this, or let me connect with this. So put out that light and they will help you. They will come to your side. And so now breathing in as our chakras are flowing and we have balance and harmony, and we ask for white light to surround us and wrap us in this divine love, and this will flow through you for the next 24 hours. Just keep hydrated and give your body rest if that's what it needs. Thank you.

Speaker Dar

Thank you. That's a great activity, and one of the ones that I love the most is working with the chakras. I just think that's so beneficial. So I'm glad you included that today.

Speaker Jaimie

Thank you.

Speaker Dar

I'd love to have you talk about your awesome book, “Holistic Journey of Evolution”.

Speaker Jaimie

Well, what's funny about that, Darla, is my Facebook memories of the last couple of weeks, even just this weekend, I posted 10 years ago at one of those meetups that we were having at the monthly gatherings, two different people at different times, saying you're going to write a book. And I'm like, yeah, right, I mean. But I said, Okay, I don't know what that looks like, whatever, so I kind of just brush it off. And you know, as you said, I've kept notes, and I was passionate about helping others, and then social media was just flourishing the last few years, especially for me, like TikTok, because of the pandemic and just people teaching virtually. And somehow it was just time for the spirit to say, Okay, let's do this. I was motivated to gather the notes, put them together. At first it was going to be just little pamphlets, daily spirituals. Hygiene, how to manifest, how to make a vision board. There's tons and tons of topics, and I didn't know where to start, but I just had to just gather them all together. And then, as I'm working it spirits like, No, make it one big file. I'm like, Okay, and so it just kind of came together. I'd like to say overnight, from the time I physically said I'm doing this, which was just a couple months ago to it's here, and it's, I've made it a digital download because it's easy and instant distribution, like we're such a society of like, instant gratification. And I knew I didn't have the means and ways to email everyone. So that's why I was guided to put it on Etsy. But basically, it's an easy read. There's going to be parts of it that people aren't going to resonate with, and that's fine, but it covers basic topics. It covers the kind of spiritual healers that are out there. It covers the different psychic gifts, and it's just enough information where I didn't feel depleted diving deep into all of them. It just introduces it so the reader who gravitates towards certain ideas and topics can do a little more digging for themselves. Yeah,

Speaker Dar

Yes, that's great and such a great intention. You mentioned earlier a little bit about your favorite healing modality. But how about expanding on that?

Speaker Jaimie

So, yeah, so my favorite. I may be a little biased here, but it's Reiki, because I am a Reiki Master Teacher, and so for me Reiki is the basic concept, the universal life force, energy. And I kind of, I shrug myself when I say that, because I'm like, well, but that doesn't mean anything to anyone who's never heard of it. So basically, it's a Japanese technique that promotes balance, inner peace and overall wellness. It does work directly with the chakras, and that's why I like it. I resonate with it, and what's funny is when I was first attuned to it. That's how you're trained in it. You're trained, and then you're called attuned, and you receive energetic symbols. And I'm like, Oh, I'm only going to do this for family and friends. I'm never going to do this professionally. I happened to have a physical space where I had clients, they would come to an appointment, they would lay on what's a massage table, but I didn't do massage. It's a placing of your hands over certain areas of the body, whether you physically touch the client, or place your hands a few inches above. And it just helps move the energy out. And I had that space for a while, until my grandma's Alzheimer's became a little more involved, and then I had to shut down, and then I moved so now I do it virtually. And a lot of people, kind of a lot of mentors, were kind of like, well, that doesn't work. And I'm like, but we all know it does, because it's like, Wi Fi, it's like a signal. It's about intention. The founder, Dr. Asui. He didn't have anyone to physically teach him. He was taught with spirit, and through the power, again, of social media, people can feel it. And so it's just taken off. It's been such a whirlwind. And I like it, because even if you're not attuned to Reiki, there's like YouTube and music platforms out there that you can listen to guided meditations, and it's kind of the self-help, even if you're not involved as a practitioner.

Speaker Dar

Yes, that's a great description. And just to remind the audience that my modality of choice is Healing Touch combined with massage. And there's so much that we all have in common when we're energy healers, whether it be Reiki, whether it be healing touch, whether it be life force, energy healing, or whatever title we put on it, as Jaimie said, it travels the distance. You can do them virtually. So Jaimie, we're talking about doing it virtually. How can people continue this conversation? How can they get hold of your book? We'll have the information in our show notes, but why don't you go over that a little bit.

Speaker Jaimie

Thank you, Darla, so the book itself, the ebook, is on Etsy, and so if people will look on that information, that would be helpful. The book is $22 and it's about 100 pages, so it's well worth your time and effort. And. And to schedule an actual appointment with me is going to be well. So here's the thing, it's normally $144 it is a 90 minute session. We do a lot of talking, because intuitively, I'm also channeling and I help. Well we actually, I'm just the facilitator. We help piece together areas in your life that need healing the most, and hopefully the link will be on your podcast page, but for your listeners, I have reduced that price to $111 and of course, I try to stick with angelic Angel numbers, because it just feels good. And anyone who books an appointment will also get the book for free. And again, so it's like a 90-minute session. It is virtual. I end up sending, sending a zoom link. It's safe. If there's anything you don't want to talk about, we don't, and that's okay. And then, of course, for fun, my favorite social media platform, you can find me on TikTok, that's where I do like, couple minute Reiki videos. Or my YouTube channel is not that active right now. I am on Instagram, but that's more of like. I just posted pictures of nature.

Speaker Dar

Thank you, and I want to thank you for being with us today, and I'm sure that we have stimulated some of our audience members to dive deeper and go forward with their new awakening journey. Thanks so much.

Speaker Jaimie

We need them. Darla, I'm so honored and grateful to you. Thank you for having me, and thank you to the listeners. Your courtesy is very much appreciated. Thanks.
