Healing Modalities
In our last podcast episode, Terri Kiggins discussed the Emotion Code healing modality in our interview. So today, I thought that we'd explore a few other energy healing modalities, perhaps some of which you have heard of, Reiki, Healing Touch, Emotional Freedom Technique, commonly called EFT, and perhaps a couple more. Energy healing modalities have gained considerable attention in recent years as alternative forms of therapy aimed at restoring balance, promoting wellbeing and facilitating the body's natural healing process, eliminating pain. Practices like Reiki, Healing Touch and Emotional Freedom Techniques are among the most popular forms of energy healing, each with its own distinct philosophy, techniques and therapeutic benefits. In this podcast, we'll explore these modalities. We'll look at their philosophical underpinnings. We'll compare their approaches and examine their respective advantages in healing.
We could probably go on and on and discuss energy healing modalities. The important thing is that. Reiki and Healing Touch use direct hand placement and gentle manipulation, where EFT uses tapping on acupressure points. And then there was Pranic Healing, which is no touch at all, focusing merely on the energy field. So energy healing modalities offer many advantages, and I think it'd be great if you give yourself the treat of trying many energy healing methods. So let's get started. First of all, Reiki, which is called the Universal life energy. So Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. It was developed in the early 20th century by Mako Yozi, and it is based on the belief that there is a universal life force energy referred to as “chi" in Japanese, believing that it flows through all living beings. Reiki practitioners believe that disruptions or imbalances in this energy flow can lead to physical, emotional or spiritual distress or discomfort by channeling this energy through their hands. Reiki practitioners aim to restore balance, promote relaxation and facilitate healing. Reiki is often described as a spiritual practice that promotes self-awareness and personal growth, rather than a religious or faith-based practice. It does not involve manipulation of the physical body, but it focuses on the energy field surrounding the body. Practitioners are trained to use specific hand positions over the body or in the energy field to transmit healing energy, which is believed to align the client's energy and encourage self-healing. So let's take a look at a few of the advantages: relaxation and stress reduction. Reiki is widely known for its ability to induce a deep relaxation and to reduce stress, it has been shown to help reduce anxiety, improve mood and increase overall feelings of peace and wellbeing. Another advantage is pain management. Many Reiki practitioners report that the technique is effective in eliminating pain, whether it's chronic pain or pain due to an injury, by promoting an energetic shift in the body. A third advantage is emotional healing. Reiki is often used to support emotional wellbeing by helping individuals release emotional blockages and find clarity or balance in their emotional state. Another advantage is that it can be a complementary healing, which means Reiki is commonly used alongside conventional medical treatments, as it is non-invasive and can help reduce side effects from other therapies. So it's beautiful to combine with other healing techniques. Let's move on to talk about healing touch. Healing Touch works with the energy field, and for those of you who don't know, Healing Touch is my modality of choice, I use it combined with traditional massage techniques. So healing touch was developed by Janet Mentgen and is a therapeutic approach that involves the use of the hands to manipulate and balance the energy fields around the body, similar to Reiki, Healing Touch is grounded in the belief that the body's Energy System can become disruptive, leading to illness or discomfort by using specific techniques, healing touch, practitioners seek to restore balance to the human energy feeling field, which is thought to promote physical and emotional healing. Healing Touch is based on the principle that human beings are interconnected with the energy of the universe, and when the energy is in balance, the body is able to heal itself. Practitioners may use both light touch and non-touch techniques to facilitate the flow of energy, healing touch also emphasizes the importance of the practitioner's intent, which is believed to be a critical factor in directing healing energy. So what are some of the advantages of using Healing Touch? Well, first of all, it's a holistic approach. It's recognized in healing, addressing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a person's wellbeing. Healing Touch is actually available for continuing ed credits for nurses and is accepted in many hospitals. Practitioners can insist on imbalances in the energy field, and they can use specific techniques to correct them, potentially leading to faster recovery from illness or injury. Another advantage is pain and stress relief, Healing Touch is reported to significantly reduce stress, anxiety and physical pain, some studies have shown that it can help alleviate chronic pain and improve the overall quality of life. And another advantage is that it promotes healing and recovery. It is frequently used in clinical settings, including hospitals, to assist patients in their recovery by enhancing immune function, reducing inflammation and accelerating wound healing. Moving on to Emotional Freedom Technique EFT, sometimes called tapping, tapping into emotional Healing. Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as tapping, or EFT, is a form of psychological acupressure that combines the principles of traditional Chinese medicine with modern psychology. EFT involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on a specific emotional or physical issue, the goal is to restore balance to the body's energy system release negative emotions and clear emotional blockages that may be causing distress or illness. EFT is often used to address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, trauma, phobias, stress, anxiety and chronic pain. I. So the technique was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig and is based on the premises that negative emotions and psychological issues are a result of disruptions in the body's energy system. By tapping on meridian points while voicing affirmations or focusing on the emotional issue, practitioners aim to neutralize the emotional charge associated with the problem. What are some of the advantages? Well, one advantage that I enjoy that really wasn't on my research list is that it's so quick and easy to do it on your own. Not every healing modality is easy to do on your own person, and this one is so some of the documented advantages is that EFT is recognized for providing Rapid Relief from emotional distress, including anxiety, fear and trauma, many people report experiencing a quick shift in their emotional state after a short session of self-empowerment. This is the one that comes closest to my reason for using it one of the key advantages of EFT is that it's a technique that individuals can learn to use on their own. This self-empowerment aspect allows individuals to address emotional challenges or physical pain without needing to rely solely on a practitioner regarding trauma and PTSD treatment, EFT has been used to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, with studies showing its effectiveness in reducing emotional distress and improving overall wellbeing in those patients. And I think one of its greatest assets is its versatility. EFT can be applied to a wide range of issues, including emotional problems, physical pain, limiting beliefs, releasing trauma, making it a very versatile tool for healing. Well, I said we'd take a look at a couple other modalities that we have time for, and while Reiki healing touch and EFT are among the most well-known energy healing practices, other modalities have unique approaches and focus. Perhaps you've heard of quantum touch. It was developed by Richard Gordon. Quantum touch is a hands-on energy healing technique that uses breath work and body awareness to enhance the flow of energy in the body and promote healing. Or maybe you've heard of Pranic Healing, founded by COVID so Pranic Healing focuses on cleansing and energizing the body's energy field to accelerate healing. It involves no physical touch and aims to balance the energy system through a series of techniques. And then there's Therapeutic Touch developed by Dolores Krieger. This technique involves using the hands to detect and manipulate the energy field to restore balance and promote healing. Another would be crystal healing. This practice uses Crystals and Gemstones to interact with the body's energy field, with each stone having specific properties that can influence different areas of wellbeing.
