Speaker Dar

Welcome in. Before we dive in, I'd love to have you tell us a little bit about who you are and why you're here.

Speaker Kaiva

Hi, thanks for having me on. My name is Kaiva Rose, and I'm an astrologer and a tarot reader and a Reiki Master, but I am here today to talk about astrology, and my journey with astrology began fairly young. My mother was into astrology when I was a child, and would always tell me about my chart. I knew nothing about my chart. I didn't really take much of it seriously. I would just nod, listen and smile. And it wasn't until I was an adult, after I've already studied tarot and Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine and got into yoga and did all these other things, that I finally decided, I think I need to study astrology. It feels very important in everything that I'm doing. And so I finally just decided to dive in in 2016 and begin my training. And so I just kind of just began my training with somebody that I had listened to on a podcast, which was Adam Summer. And it was a great first basic training. I learned all the basics of astrology, which was fantastic. And then I just was able to deepen my journey through reading a lot of Dane Rudyard, his writings are extremely profound, super deep. It's like one sentence of his is like reading an entire chapter of somebody else's. He just has the ability to really give you so much in the words that he uses that I just found so much knowledge and wisdom in his books. And then after studying him, I decided to take my journey a little bit deeper and learn traditional ancient astrology. And so I studied with the School of Traditional Astrology, which just opened up my eyes to a whole new, whole new way of practicing Astrology, because I went from doing more of a modern approach to astrology, to practicing how the ancients practice, which is an entirely different system, which maybe we can get into, but it really changed my perspective and ability on how to read a chart, and the things I can offer people, which is just amazing, really.

 Speaker Dar

So we met at an expo, and I'm really curious about what type of astrology you are practicing now?

 Speaker Kaiva

Yeah, so I do practice ancient astrology. So ancient astrology is a little bit different from modern astrology. Modern astrology is more of a psychological approach to astrology, and ancient astrology, I'm able to tell you concrete factual things about your life, which is like your family, your upbringing, your parents, your siblings, your children, your partner, and all of those things. But beyond just traditional astrology, I also practice horary astrology, which is a type of traditional astrology, which I absolutely love, because it's essentially if you have something happen and you have a yes or no question, pretty much about any area of your life, as long as it's a yes or no question, I pull up a chart for that moment, and based on that chart, I can tell you everything about that question, the yes or the No. And it's just one of the most profound practices that I just love, because it's so accurate. I actually found a lost key the other day when I was his long story. But I was heading to an expo, and I thought I had lost the key, but I did a horrorary, and it turned out it was in my partner's things, and he was in such denial that he had taken the key, and lo and behold, I found it in his pocket. And so it's things like that with traditional, ancient astrology that I just love, because it just is so accurate and it's profound. And so I also practice astrocartography, so that's been looking at the map of the world and seeing which areas you'll thrive in different ways. And I also do readings for couples. And, yeah, those are the basics that I practice.

 Speaker Dar

Well, how interesting? And I love the key example. That's really interesting.

 Speaker Kaiva

Yeah, it was pretty funny.

Speaker Dar

So could you define for us, then what? I don't know what an astrological chart looks like, and it's parts like starting at the very basic level.

 Speaker Kaiva

yeah, absolutely. So an astrological chart, first off, how we're going to get there is we need your exact birth time. So the exact time, not a made-up time, not a I think it is time, not the time that your mother thought you had she had you. But the exact birth time that's written on your birth certificate or is written down in your baby book, whichever you choose, but it's got to be the exact time I need your birth date and then the city and location of your birth because with that information, I'm able to pull up your natals chart. And when we look at the natal chart the most. Important part of your natal chart, from an ancient astrologer's perspective, is your rising sign. And so that's why I need that exact time of birth, because that rising sign will change between an hour to two hours based on which sign of the zodiac is rising and each sign of the zodiac has 30 degrees. And so the reason I need the exact birth time is because if you say that you're born at 1130 but really you're born at, you know, 12 o'clock, your rising sign degree is going to be different dramatically, and that changes your entire reading. Because astrology is the science of aspects and angles, and so if you have different angular relationships based on that degree, again, it's just going to change your entire reading, your entire chart. And so that's why we need that exact birth time, because the rising sign, essentially, is called your horoscope. Horoscope means horizon, and so the sign that was rising over the eastern horizon as you were born is you. Because at that degree, let's say you're 24 degrees. Leo rising at 24 degrees, Leo rising is rising above the horizon. You are coming out. You are both making yourself seen in that exact moment, therefore that rising sign is extremely important. So that's where we start first with an astrological chart.

 Speaker Dar

That's really interesting. I never had heard the importance of the exact time before. Could you talk a little bit about ancient and modern and just a little bit of history, or what we're talking about when we talk about ancient or what we talk about modern astrology?

 Speaker Kaiva

Absolutely so when we talk about ancient and modern astrology, the major difference is that modern astrology is a more psychological approach versus ancient astrology is more concrete, factual, tangible information about your life. The reason why there is a difference between the two is because I believe it was sometime around the 1900s when astrology predicting the future became illegal. You are not allowed to predict the future. That's what happened. Therefore, astrology had to take on a new face. And so it took on the face of psychological astrology. And so that tradition continued onward until modern times. There's still a lot of astrologers that practice modern astrology, which is great, but we had something fantastic happen in the 1990s where a revival of traditional astrology started to happen because major texts from the ancient times were being translated, and so all of a sudden, now we have access to so much ancient information on astrology that there's a lot more upcoming ancient astrologers. And for me personally, I like to know the facts. I like to know the tangible things. Of course, I can tell you everything you want to know about your psychological identity. However, I find it really fascinating to be able to tell people about what their partners are going through, or the types of partners they'll go, they're going to be attracted to, they're going to be with, and how we can coach people on what the higher octave of that looks like. Because the thing is, when we think of partnership, you're always going to have your seventh house and what that represents. However, sometimes we can bring in lower octaves or higher octaves, depending on who we are and what we're doing in our own lives. And so when I reach some people that just can't get that right partner, it's really about coaching them to see if you want this higher octave partner. Let's focus on getting you there so that that person will come, because there's a part of you that's calling in that lower frequency, lower octave. And so that's why I love you know, ancient astrology is because I'm able to better work with people and help them understand certain dynamics, work through those dynamics and actually just, I think, make a bigger impact in general.

 Speaker Dar

Awesome. Thank you for giving us those details without breaking client confidentiality. What are some of your most interesting stories, examples or discoveries in the field?

 Speaker Kaiva

Yeah. So one of the most interesting readings that I had just kind of most recently was I was giving a reading to a couple so I do couples readings, and I had the woman there with me, and we had the man on the phone, and as I was beginning to tell the man about his upbringing as a child and things that he had gone through, he had to pause and ask his partner, did you tell her about my life at all? Because this is really freaky. And she was like, No, I said, nothing. And for me, it's moments like that where I'm able to bring up. Things that I'm not supposed to know as a stranger, and that maybe you know these people haven't even talked about to their partners. And it's able to really bring to this, like forefront, that astrology is real, that astrology actually works. Because I didn't know those things as an astrologer. When I see things in a chart, I'm like, Well, I see it. It's showing up a few times, so I'm gonna say it. And you know, because a lot of times, people don't want to tell you everything. They want you to tell them things. And when you're able to kind of show them they're in a safe space to work through certain things, that's when I think astrology has the most magic, because it allows people to know that you see them in a way that other people don't see them. And sometimes when people think of themselves or they've been treated well, actually, this is another one where this guy had in his chart. He had an exaltation. It exalted Saturn ruling his chart, at the top of his chart as his his MC, which is a

fantastic point, but that's the type of person where he was kind of like, you know, a street kid who had made himself really working for major businesses in this as an adult, and so is doing very well, but his father's entire life, because he was kind of a street kid getting into trouble. But let me tell you, he was the street kid getting to trouble that led all the other kids, right? And so his father would always tell him, he will never add up to be anything. But I was like, that was when I was able to tell that guy that would have never been the case. It is written in your chart that you are responsible. You are the one that will always be in charge. It allows people to see that we all make flaws as children, right? And sometimes parents, people in our life, when we're children, can't get beyond those mistakes we've made, where in their chart, in our charts, we're able to see that we're made for greater things and that those things need to happen to teach us lessons. And so to be able to convey that to that guy, I felt a huge relief from him, because he's like, how did you know that? How did you see that and as well? I mean, this is like a big, tough, burly guy, right? He's not going to be soft, but I was able to give that to him and help him go through that. So that was just one of those magical moments of astrology.

Speaker Dar

Yes, what validation that is, thank you for those examples. Yeah, when, when you talked about rising to a certain level yourself to receive a partner at that level, could you expand a little bit on the topic of actually honoring ourselves and being able to do something like that. What are we talking about here?

 Speaker Kaiva

Yeah, absolutely. So when I talk about, you know, rising, allowing yourself to reach higher octaves, allowing yourself to honor yourself, what I'm really talking about is, how can we acknowledge that we have faults, that we have things we need to work on, and that it's not about pointing the finger at other people and saying that I keep attracting these partners, I keep doing these things, or these things just keep happening to me. Instead of going down that route and making yourself a victim of the reality, it's really being able to look at your chart and see what those strengths are, and honoring the fact that you get a choice on how you want to use these strengths, or these things that you just innately do and can't not do, like when somebody has Pluto in the first house, or has an aspect to Pluto, my first thing to tell them is you need To decide when and how you want to control environments, because it is your natural tendency to control environments. And oftentimes, those people will laugh and they will smile, and so it's in a moment for them to acknowledge that it's not your environment always putting duties and duties, and you know responsibilities on you, it's you needing to recognize when and where and how you want to do that. And so when I talk about honoring ourselves, it's recognizing that there's certain things that are always going to be written into our chart, and we get to decide whether we take them and as a power, a gift and a strength, or we continue to allow them to deteriorate us from loving ourselves and honoring our highest purpose.

Speaker Dar

Great examples. Thank you so much. Now I'd like to turn the mic over to you to lead our audience through an activity.

Speaker Kaiva

Yeah, fun. Okay, so first things first, we are going to need your exact birth time, and so I want everybody to find their birth certificate. If you can't find your birth certificate because you don't have the official birth record, you can contact your local state and. To ask for your official birth record, um, because that will have your exact time on it. If you just order your birth certificate, it will not have your exact time. So we'll need that. Sometimes people can contact the hospital if you have a baby book, sometimes it's written in there. But first things first, we need that exact birth time. Because I'm guessing you all know your birth date, and I'm guessing you probably all know the city and state you are born in, or the country you are born in. And so you're going to need those three things, and then you're going to either contact me to get a reading, or you're going to go to a program, astro.com is a good program to go to. And you're going to type in that information and look at your natal chart. So once you pull up your chart, you're going to look on the furthest left-hand side, your first house cusp, your rising sign, AKA your horoscope, whatever that first house CUSP is, that sign is you. And so that's where we're going to start, is, I want everybody to get to know that rising sign. Get to know what element it is, if it's a fire sign, if it's an earth sign, if it's an Air sign, if it's a water sign, get to know that element. Get to know that sign, because that's the helm of your ship. That's your guiding force in this lifetime. So the more that you get to know that sign, the more that you get to know your strong points and your weak points and how people see you and how you present yourself, and really a lot about your vitality as well.

 Speaker Dar

And when you talk a little bit about the special you have for our listeners?

 Speaker Kaiva

Yeah, absolutely. So once you find your birth time, I am going to offer you all $10 off an hour astrology reading, or $5 off a half hour astrology reading as just a little bit of an offering to help you get you started on your astrological journey,

Speaker Dar

and we'll have that contact information provided for everybody in the show notes. And as we wrap up, is there anything else that you're being kind of called to share about this topic for us?

 Speaker Kaiva

Oh, well, I think you know, just the most important thing is that whatever you've been learning about astrology, it's still valid. But as if you want to look in the more ancient practice and the more ancient traditional astrology, I encourage you all to let go of the sun and the moon identity that you've taken on from modern astrology, from pop astrology, because I've had some teachers that are like, do not mention your top three. I don't want to hear it. I don't want to talk about it. You are your rising sign, because in ancient astrology, the sun and the moon. You know the sun represents ancient astrology like your father, right? And so there's things that the planets represent, not only do they rule a house in your chart, but they also represent different things. But the one thing that is always and always will be you is your rising sign. So that's what I always kind of encourage people to do, because even after I say this, a lot of people are still going to identify with their sun sign. And so I mean, that's totally fine. However, if you want to get the juice of your chart, you really need to just start identifying with your rising sign and going from there. So that's a little tidbit of information I would just share.

 Speaker Dar

Yes, I'm so glad you talked about that, the importance of the rising sign and the difference between ancient and modern astrology. I mean, I just kind of thought astrology was astrology, you know,

Speaker Kaiva

yep, a lot of people do, and that's where it's just so fascinating.

 Speaker Dar

Yes, well, thank you for spending time with us today, and I just want to remind our listeners that they will be able to connect with you through the show notes, and I will see you in person at the next Expo we do together. And just a fun little aside, she has a dog named Rico who just loves my dog, Clint, so we have to get together. Oh, absolutely.

 Speaker Kaiva

Oh, absolutely. It’s a joy to see those two play, and it's always a joy to see you as well. So thank you so much. It's been a pleasure.
