5 Energy Healing Therapies
Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a curious skeptic, this episode is for you. We’ll explore the top five energy healing modalities, their core focus, benefits, and to make it even more practical—I’ll even share some compelling client case studies and research that supports their effectiveness.
So, what do these five modalities have in common? They all work with subtle energy—our life force, our vibration, our electromagnetic field—to return us to balance. Some are hands-on, some use intention or frequency, but the common thread is this: healing begins in the energetic field before it manifests in the physical body.

Hello everybody! Today we’re diving into one of the most fascinating—and often misunderstood—topics in holistic wellness: energy healing.
Now, whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a curious skeptic, this episode is for you. We’ll explore the top five energy healing modalities, their core focus, benefits, and to make it even more practical—I’ll even share some compelling client case studies and research that supports their effectiveness. Let’s get into it.
1. Reiki — “Universal Life Force Energy”
- Main Focus: Reiki channels universal energy through the hands of the practitioner to promote balance and self-healing.
- Benefits: Stress reduction, pain relief, emotional healing, improved sleep, and faster recovery from illness or surgery.
- Case Study: A client, Sarah, a 39-year-old school teacher came in for a session after experiencing burnout and panic attacks. After just three Reiki sessions, she reported deeper sleep, reduced anxiety, and a sense of ‘emotional spaciousness’ she hadn’t felt in years. By session six, her panic attacks had ceased entirely."
- Research: A 2017 study published in Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine found that Reiki significantly reduced anxiety and depression in chronically ill patients. Another randomized clinical trial published in Cancer journal in 2011 showed Reiki improved quality of life in cancer patients undergoing treatment.
2. Lifeforce or Pranic Healing — “No-Touch Energy Medicine”
- Main Focus: Cleansing and energizing the body’s energy field by removing energetic blocks using prana (life-force).
- Benefits: Accelerated physical healing, emotional balance, immune support, and chakra cleansing.
- Case Study: A client named Raj had chronic lower back pain that didn’t respond to physical therapy. After a series of five Pranic Healing sessions that focused on his root and sacral chakras. Not only did his pain decrease by 70%, but he also reported increased mental clarity and better digestion.
- Research: While Pranic Healing has limited large-scale Western clinical trials, a study in Global Advances in Health and Medicine(2015) noted measurable biofield changes in subjects after sessions. Ongoing trials are exploring its impact on wound healing and emotional disorders.
3. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping) — “Energy Psychology in Action”
- Main Focus: Combining acupressure with modern psychology to release emotional blockages stored in the body.
- Benefits: Effective for PTSD, anxiety, phobias, chronic pain, and weight loss.
- Case Study: Jake, a 28-year-old combat veteran, came in with severe PTSD. Traditional talk therapy helped somewhat, but tapping gave him a breakthrough. Within eight sessions, flashbacks decreased dramatically. He described the tapping as ‘pressing delete on emotional trauma.'
- Research: EFT is one of the most researched energy modalities. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease (2016) concluded EFT significantly reduced anxiety, with effect sizes comparable to CBT. The APA has also acknowledged EFT as a promising therapy for PTSD.
4. Crystal Healing — “Vibrational Support through Mineral Intelligence”
- Main Focus: Using the vibrational frequencies of crystals to align chakras, clear negativity, and support emotional or physical healing.
- Benefits: Grounding, emotional regulation, chakra balancing, intuitive development.
- Case Study: Laura, a 45-year-old executive, sought healing after a divorce. Using rose quartz, black tourmaline, and amethyst, she had work done on heart and root chakra healing. The emotional support she reported was profound—‘like being hugged by the Earth itself,’ she said.
- Research: Scientific validation of crystal healing remains minimal, but psychophysical studies—like the placebo-controlled experiment by Wiseman and Watt (2002)—show that perceived intention can amplify effects. Many researchers now argue for more nuanced placebo-plus-effect models when it comes to vibrational therapies.
5. Healing Touch — “Heart-Centered Energy Therapy”
- Main Focus: Healing Touch uses light or near-body touch to clear, balance, and energize the human energy system—especially the chakras and biofield—to support healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
- Benefits: Pain relief, emotional trauma release, surgical recovery, immune support, and deep relaxation.
- Case Study: Angela, a 67-year-old breast cancer survivor, was referred for Healing Touch during her radiation treatment. She described the sessions as 'energetic painkillers' that also helped her feel emotionally supported. Her fatigue and nausea decreased significantly, and her care team noted improved resilience during treatment.
- Research: Healing Touch is backed by over 50 clinical studies. A 2006 study in Integrative Cancer Therapies found that patients who received Healing Touch experienced significantly less fatigue and mood disturbance during radiation. It’s also approved in over 30 U.S. hospitals as a complementary therapy, including the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic.
Due to the extensive research and its endorsement by the Holistic Nurses Association this is my preferred modality although I have trained in the other 4.
So, what do these five modalities have in common?
They all work with subtle energy—our life force, our vibration, our electromagnetic field—to return us to balance. Some are hands-on, some use intention or frequency, but the common thread is this: healing begins in the energetic field before it manifests in the physical body.
If you’re curious about trying one of these methods, I recommend starting with the one that resonates most with you. Energy speaks softly, but when we listen, the results can be profound.
Until next time, stay open, stay curious, and remember: you are energy, and energy can heal. SO call in improved energy. “Call It in With Dar.”
