Speaker Dar

Welcome in, Cheryl. I'm so excited to have you here as the author of three books and a spiritual coach and healer. First, I'd like to start by having you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got to this point where you're at right now.

Speaker Cheryl

Oh, hi, Dar. It really is such an honor to be here with you today. I can't wait to get going a little bit about myself. I'm a spiritual coach, a Master Healer. I've written three books, and I love to help mature women who've done all kinds of personal work, but they come to a place where they're just feeling stuck or blocked and they lack clarity and they really want to move forward. Those are the people I help with because I once was so stuck in my life, I was married to what we didn't know then, a narcissist who was also an alcoholic, and I had two young children when I left him to start my life again, and I had a very profound spiritual experience on the beach one day with my deceased brother, and the long of The short of it was, his message to me was to start meditating. And hence my spiritual journey and my own healing began, and that was over 30 years ago.

Speaker Dar

Wow. Thank you for sharing that with us. A very profound start, for sure, so I'd like to talk about helping mature women who are feeling stuck. So how about just diving into maybe defining what that's like and some of the blocks they might be experiencing.

Speaker Cheryl

Well, what happens? What happens for people? You know, I think as we develop, as we age, we may grow in certain areas, and yet we still have, we all have conditioning, subconscious patterns that started to develop in early childhood, even as early as in the womb, I've discovered and so some of that conditioning can be really positive and help us in our lives, become successful in relationships and work, but some of The conditioning, even a lot of it can be derogatory and can really hold us back that we don't understand why we're doing certain things, or we look at our lives and we just don't get how did I end up here? Why am I behaving this way? Why am I attracting these sorts of people? Or we set goals. I can't tell you how many women come to me and they've worked so hard, they've done all the right things, and they just aren't getting to where they want to go. And they know they have subconscious blocks, and they cannot, for the life of them, figure out what those blocks are, and the blocks prevent them from really gaining clarity on what action steps to take, what's beneficial for them, what isn't. And so they feel kind of lost, or sometimes they feel flat. What used to give them fulfillment no longer does. And the subconscious blocks are, you know, that's a topic in and of itself, and science has proven that our wounding trauma is stored in the right side of the brain through physical sensations and emotions. It's not through linear memories. So even if you do this work, you don't have to remember anything, but any memories that are stored in the subconscious are fragmented. So what happens when something traumatic happens to us? And it can be a sudden episode of something traumatic, or it can be the ongoing trauma of emotional neglect, which most of us, older people, have experienced in our lives, and it is classified as emotional neglect. Ongoing emotional neglect is classified as trauma. And so it's I help people access what's being held in the subconscious that they are absolutely not aware of. We access it, we clear it, and then the beautiful part is we can reprogram the subconscious brain because of its neuroplasticity, all the ways that that conditioning got in there in the first place, we can use. Utilize that to reprogram the subconscious, reprogram the brain so that we turn around, we go into our lives and we're different on that day.

Speaker Dar

Wow. And our topic is from blocked to powerful, and I think you just expressed that from blocked to powerful. So could you talk a little bit more about these subconscious blocks?

Speaker Cheryl

So what happens early on, and I honestly, you know, so much of it is our deepest wounding to me, or what starts these patterns that continue to grow. It's energy. So something happens in our early childhood, often with our parents, and we're not able to fully express our emotions. So the emotions become trapped in us, our emotions, our energy and in motion. Emotions are meant to be expressed. And humanity has evolved so much in this regard, in so many ways, that people have learned they have to express their emotions so the blocks are repressed emotions, and what can happen as well. Say a child is frightened, even terrified, and they tense their body up. Let's say they really tense their legs and their shoulders, that trauma can get locked in there physically so often. What happens when I'm working with people? They may experience intense physical sensations, even pain, but it all dissipates by the end of the session. It's just how the body stored it. And so what happens with these repressed emotions? It's natural that a toddler, a child, even a little fetus, will create a belief from it. They'll create a belief that starts to run their life. And so hence, that is the beginning of a pattern, and it goes on and on, and it's an energy, and it attracts more of it, because that initial subconscious belief attracts more of the same to it like attracts like. So we carry on with our lives for years and years. And I'll, I'll give you an example of myself after I left my first husband, I noticed after a number of years, you know, I would date once in a while. I didn't date that much, but I would date once in a while. And I thought all of these men have something in common. They have, you know, sort of a propensity to addiction to alcohol, not, you know, outrageous or anything. They all have issues with their mothers. And my needs, my emotional needs, are not much of a priority, and I was noticing that, and I and I thought to myself, I'm the one common denominator. I'm the same in all of this. And so how am I attracting this? And before that, I was working on other things, not so much focused on that kind of relationship, because I could, I could just end the relationship. So I would notice these things within a few months, and I would just end the relationship and try to be more discerning, more selective, and it was when I started to recognize my own wounding and heal myself. Then the caliber of men I attracted changed immensely. So that's my own sort of testament to that. So what is held in the subconscious can be freed. We just have to learn to access it, and that's what I'd like to teach our listeners today, how to access these blocks, clear them and move into empowerment, authentic power.

Speaker Dar

Wow, that'll be great. And before we do that, could I know you gave a good example of yourself, but could you give us another case study or two of profound transformation that you've experienced with the of course, a nameless client to protect the confidentiality, Speaker Cheryl   yes, well, this one, I'm going to give you her real name Jenny, because Jenny is more than happy to share this story. Jenny. Jenny started her first business when she was 17 years old with her mother and Jenny was always a businesswoman and all and did quite well when she met me. She was a seven figure businesswoman, and she had a travel business, but she was absolutely exhausted. And miserable and hated her business. And this was not the first time that she was exhausted and miserable and hated her business. And what we realized in going back was that she was raised in a very wealthy family with a completely disconnected mother.  The mother was rarely physically there, and she was just taught, this is what you do. You run businesses. It's just all about the dollars. It's all about the numbers. It's not about your own happiness. And so we went back even earlier on, so it just showed why she would be so discontent in her business. And we went back to those early years and even in the womb. And what Jenny learned in the womb and when she came into the world was that she didn't matter at all. Her needs didn't matter, and that in order to survive, not even just to be loved, but in order to survive, she has to put everybody else's needs first. And what a challenge. She started to look at her life, and she could just see how she puts herself on the back burner, and was putting herself on the back burner in every situation in every relationship, and allowed herself to go on for so many years being unhappy and not meeting her own needs and her businesses. And what ended up happening, Ginny had an epiphany one day. We talked about her doing a retreat, and so she did the retreat, and it came to her that she's here to do spiritual work and she's here to lead retreats. Well, it's a far cry from the business she was in. And so she weaned her way out of the business, and is now really building that business of doing spiritual retreats. She gets on stages and leads meditation, and she's so joyful to be doing her work in the world, everything that her soul came here to do, she was so off track and so out of alignment that now she has the clarity from day to day, month to month, year to year, what? What is hers to do? So she naturally knows where to focus, and she has that level of trust, like you talked about in one of your episodes, you know that positive expectation, she didn't try to create the positive expectation, the trust, it was a result of clearing the blocks that held her captive, which freed her up to step into her divinely powerful self.

Speaker Dar

Wow. Thank you for sharing that, because I'm sure many of the women in our audience identify with putting others' needs first, and probably as far back as they can remember.

Speaker Cheryl

Yes, I personally, I think it's, it's just been a long standing pandemic in and of itself. It's so it's destructive. It's destructive to the authentic self. And so while putting others needs, you know, in the forefront, we can put our own needs in the forefront at the same time, everybody matters, but we don't put others before ourselves at the expense of ourself.

Speaker Dar

I'm glad you clarified that for sure, not at the expense of ourself. So let's dive into the subconscious. Let's share an activity with our audience next

Speaker Cheryl

Okay, well, I talked about accessing the subconscious, clearing the subconscious, and then the empowerment of the subconscious that we can reprogram, and that's when we move into authentic power. So what happens? We have to find a way to get into the subconscious. And what I discovered so early on in my journey, and only because my body liked to breathe in long, full breaths when I felt stressed or cold. I grew up in Alberta, Canada, and often shiver in the winter. As a child when I'd be walking to school or to a friend's place, I learned to take long breaths to relax my body so that I wouldn't shiver anymore, so I wouldn't feel so cold. And so when I would be meditating early on in those days, even though I learned to just breathe normally, my body wanted to take long breaths, and my teachers just said, No, you can just breathe. With the normal breath, and there was a method and all that sort of thing. But I'm so glad that I eventually just surrendered to the longer breath, because what that does, it changes the brain function. And I'm talking about a long, full breath in the lower abdomen. So Dar, if you can put your hand on your lower belly right now, and the listeners at home put your thumb at about the level of your navel, or your belly button, and just breathe with long breaths. Relax your body. Relax your body. Relax the shoulders. And you can exhale slowly and squeeze your abdomen at the end of the exhale, and then you allow your belly to expand on the inhale, and you want to do this for six to eight seconds. And what that does, it changes the brain function from the brain stem to the frontal lobe brain, and it frees up the back of the brain, the medulla oblongata, which helps give us access to our subconscious as soon as we engage those abdominal muscles. So you first want to train your body physically to be able to do that, but that is your gateway to the subconscious, and so sure you can have thoughts that come and you might be thinking, this meditation style is not about removing all thought. Just forget that it's absolutely not necessary, and your brain does need to be working, because you need the thoughts to support you in the meditation. So that's going to give you access to your subconscious. And you want to do this with your eyes closed, so practice until it becomes comfortable, and then what we do is you can focus on your root chakra. Now, the chakras, if you're unaware, I'm sure a lot of your listeners know what chakras are. And if you don't know what they are, if you think of them as an energetic system, and there's these hubs of energy that run along the inside of the spine, and it's sort of similar to, if you think of Chinese medicine, there's meridians, and energy flows along those pathways. We actually have 1000s of energy systems, and the chakras are so intense and so big, and they hold information, and they're a way to access these blocks. You know, I didn't mention I do chakra readings. I can see the energy in people, and I don't see the lotus flowers with all the petals and colors and the mandalas that you often see in images of the chakras, I see them as light. Energy is light, and I see the blocks as darkness. So I can do chakra readings all the time that are so full of information, and I can let people know where their blocks are, what they are about, and what they can do about them. And they're and the chakras are multifaceted. And there's, you know, different meanings for all the different parts of each chakra. There's a top, a bottom, a middle, the sides and so on. So back to this. The number one place to focus in your chakras is in the Root Chakra. Most of the problems start in the Root Chakra, because that chakra starts developing before we even come into the world, and especially as infants, when we're newborns. So you can focus your eyes, bring them down to the tip of your tailbone, and you breathe there. You imagine you're breathing there. So you keep the full breath going. And you want to, you want to have an intention for this. Do you want to know? What is it you need to know about everything, sort of getting in the way of your business, or you're doing everything right? You've, you've got this business, you're trying to get going, and nothing seems to be working. You're doing all the right things. Or maybe it's a question, what's going wrong in a relationship? So you can ask yourself this and tune into how you feel about it, tune into the emotion. How do you feel about things going wrong or sideways in a relationship? How do you feel about you've been working on this business for over a year, and you still don't have income, you still don't have a client, or nobody's bought your product. How does it make you feel? And you breathe into that emotion, and you let yourself feel it fully, even if it's uncomfortable, it's meant to be felt. And then you can do what I call following the emotional thread. So once you feel that emotion fully, by continuing to breathe into it, you can drop down into the emotion underneath, and you keep going and keep going. Now I'm not going to lead a full. I will practice here. This is so you start to get the hang of it, so you go deeper and deeper into the emotion, and then you might hit something like deep sadness or even shame. You know, shame is a very, very deep one. And then you can ask your subconscious. Can you ask your root chakra, when did this emotion first begin? So we're following the emotions because it remembers what I said, trauma is stored. Science has proven it through physical sensations and emotions. So you ask, When did this first begin? And you go deeper on the exhale. So on every exhale, you imagine you're dropping deeper and deeper into your subconscious, and your subconscious is going to let you know, and you may hit a time in your early adulthood, in your teens, and you can recognize that, and I encourage you to keep going deeper, back into early childhood. And this isn't about making our parents wrong or bad. They did their best and they made a lot of mistakes because they had their own conditioning and their own wound. It's being responsible for ourselves. So you will eventually get to a place where there may be a fragmented memory, there may be a bit of a memory, there may be another emotion, but you'll have a sense of how old you are. So then you imagine you become your younger self, and you breathe into it at that level, and you continue to breathe through it, and you notice any physical sensations, but you don't focus on them. You don't change your focus from the root chakra, because that is actually a distraction, but your body is letting you know how it's stored, and then the way to clear it is to continue to breathe through it at that earliest level that you get to. So if, if the feeling is deep, sadness, grief, shame, whatever it is, you keep breathing through it. And confusion. Feeling confused is a very common trauma, feeling the the little one feels so confused doesn't understand what's going on, and that really locks things in for them, so that releases the energy, so you want it to dissipate, and then what will happen is some more positive emotions will naturally find their way. It's sort of like Rumi says, it's through the wound that you discover your light, and I think I paraphrase that a little bit, but you will discover more of the truth of your being, the light of your being, and you will begin to access some deeper, brighter emotions. And you can ask yourself questions like, what's true for me now, what is my view of the world? And you can even say to yourself, I am and find a truth about yourself and and you know, I have a couple, well, I have hundreds of stories to share around this, but you will discover a truth, and it's about breathing through it, breathing through it. So we clear the difficult emotion or emotions, and then we discover what's true, and we can re parent that little self, and that really helps to clear it. And then we can start to move into empowerment and reprogramming when you start to discover what's really true, then you can inhale that into your chakras. You can inhale it into the root chakra, or whatever chakra you're working on, and your own little self will give you the truth, and you just keep repeating those new truths. What's actually true? The truth of your being into your root chakra, and that starts to reprogram it. And then I encourage you to do that every day for a week or two. Let's say you had something happen when you were two years old that was just devastating to you, and you get to the truth of your being. And so you want to imagine yourself as your little two year old self and your adult self together, breathing your truth into you. And then you'll notice your whole life will start to change. You'll become more empowered. You'll start to experience so much joy, and things will just start to go your way.

Speaker Dar

That was amazing. I was following you along with you, and I was breathing through the whole conversation and really got in touch with someone. Something already. So I'm sure some of the people in our audience have too. When you mentioned confusion, I went right to a one year old inner child being very confused. Yes, well, I had goosebumps when it happened, so I've been following along, and I'm sure some people in our audience are following along as well. And so that's why I wanted to mention that, that I plan on continuing this after our interview and going back to that point. But for now, will you talk about your books? I'm so excited about you being a three-time author here.

Speaker Cheryl

Well, I was first led to write my first book on the throat chakra, and that's to heal your neck issues and let your throat chakra shine. And what I discovered as a healer and a spiritual coach and meditation leader was that all my clients, all my students, had throat chakra issues. And I remember back in my 30s, there was a period of time I worked on my throat chakra. I'm sure it was for four or five years I had so many throat chakra issues, and the issues kept mostly coming back. And what I realized was that the problems that you think are in the throat chakra. Are not rooted in the throat chakra. They're rooted in the Root Chakra, and they're expressed. They're manifested in the throat chakra. If you think of it like a dandelion, we all know if you want to get rid of the dandelions, although it's not the thing to do anymore, because we need them to attract bees. But back in the you know, years ago when we used to get rid of the dandelions, and some people still do, but you know, you have to pull that plant out at its root, and those roots are long. You've gotta get all the way down to the tip. If you just pluck the flower of the dandelion. It's just going to grow back. You're not doing much. It may look better temporarily, maybe for a few days, but that's going to come right back. It's the same with the throat chakra and the Root Chakra. So you, when you have throat chakra issues, you follow that throat chakra all the way down the inside of your spine, right down to the root chakra, and you do the work there, and you pluck that dandy line out right at the root. So that's the throat chakra, and it's an introduction to my meditation practices and that sort of thing. So if you're not feeling seen or heard in your life, or you have difficulty expressing your truth, and ultimately, the throat chakra is about expressing our soul's purpose, why we're here. That's the book to get for you, and that one is also available in audio. And my second book. What happened was I found it so interesting. I thought I was just going to write one book. I thought that was it, one and done. But through my throat chakra program, I started to work with coaches who weren't getting any clients, and I would do a chakra reading on them and see what was going on. And the nice thing with the chakra readings, and not only do I see where their wounding is held, but I also see what their superpowers are, where their light is flowing well, and I help them utilize that light in their empowerment. And so I remember the first two, and one of the women, I'll just call her Tan, she she was, she prayed a lot. She had prayed for years, and I said to her, wow. I said, Do you pray? And she said, Yes. And she had this devotional energy coming off her heart chakra that was just magnificent. So I helped her utilize that. And, you know, we cleared the blocks, of course, and the other woman who came along right after her, I'll call her Anne tan. And Anne and she had been trying to get a group together to run a group program for over a year and a half. I think it was about 20 months by the time she came to me with no success at all. Did all the right things. Never had one person sign up. Never even got on a call. She was devastated, and she had even written a book, and so both of these women, within six or seven weeks, had a full group signed up. All I did was help them clear their subconscious blocks and use them. Their superpowers, and boom, they were off to the races. So the client magnet book is the coach's guide to attract ideal clients through spiritual awareness, spiritual practices, that sort of thing. So anyone that has a small business, if you're a practitioner, and you're not doing well, it really teaches you how to clear the blocks and attract those souls who need you the most. And then my most recent book, from block to powerful is the spiritual guide to unlocking inner clarity and authentic power. And you know, after the client magnet book, I thought, okay, I guess it was two books. And so I didn't write another book for some time, and then an opportunity just came along and was so in my face, I couldn't say no to it. And I thought, okay, I guess it's time to write another book. And, you know, not that I'm planning on retiring, but before I retire, it felt like I needed to give more into a book, provide you know some of my best things that even you know much higher levels to you know, things I teach to my more advanced clients, people that stay with me for a while. So it's a compilation of so much and what I think of as some of my own most powerful personal practices that I've done over the decades. You know, I've been doing this for over 30 years. I've lost track of how many training sessions, and so that's the front block to a powerful book.

Speaker Dar

All three are definitely food for the soul. I love the analogy of the dandelion, and I really hadn't thought about that. Similar to you. I am a seer, and I do see in many of my clients the connection from the throat to the root, but to compare it to like taking a dandelion out of the ground, that was just eye opening for me. And then we have several women that do have businesses that listen to this podcast. So the client magnet for sure. And today you've given us kind of a taste of moving blocks too powerful. All of those books are just wonderful, and I know I'm going to own them, but would you talk about the gift you have for our audience before we wrap up here?

Speaker Cheryl

Yes, I'm, I'm really excited to offer this gift to your audience. Dar, so I hope if you're listening, you take advantage of this. And this is, this is a very new gift. What I've put together are just three powerful meditations, and the first one is the full breath. So I'm with you, leading you in the full breath. And it's, it's not a very long meditation, but it helps you really get the hang of it. And then the next level, if you want to get really good at this, is what's called the rhythmic breath. And the rhythmic breath helps us bring ourselves back into better alignment. What happens is, most of us get so out of alignment that our inhale is often longer than our exhale, or our exhale is longer than the inhale, or the breath is jagged. There’re all sorts of problems with the breath and breathing rhythmically, making the breath even on the inhale and exhale, benefits us in so many ways. So that's the second short meditation. And then the last one is a longer meditation, and it's my most listened to meditation. And I've had so many clients say, you know when, when things get tough, I always go back to this meditation, and it's called creating safety and stability in the Root Chakra, because the root chakra is all about us feeling safe and stable in the world. We can't move into the second developmental level of the root chakra, which I call trust and faith. If you're not feeling safe and stable, you can't develop trust. How are you going to have faith in everything? So it's going back, and if we have to go back to that level again, it's only because there's likely a deeper layer of something that you've already healed. So it's such a such. A useful meditation that you can listen to again and again. So I put them into a package of three, and it's called powerful meditation. So you can just click the link and they are yours,

Speaker Dar

and we will have that link in the show notes for sure. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Before we say goodbye, I just want to give you the opportunity to tell us if there's anything else that you feel our audience of today needs to know,

Speaker Cheryl

yes, yes, there's one thing you know after I work with my clients. Whenever we're finished, I always ask the question, did you ever think you'd become the person you are now? But you know, before we started working together? And they always say, No, I could never imagine this. I couldn't imagine what this is like. So I invite you to inhale my words here. If you're listening, you can even put your hand on your heart chakra and really receive my words. You are powerful beyond belief. Powerful beyond what you can currently even imagine.

Speaker Dar

Beautiful. Thank you so much. Cheryl, was such a pleasure to have you on today.

Speaker  Cheryl

Thank you, Darla, this has just been so much fun, and I'm grateful to be a part of your mission. Thank you.
