Speaker Jill
Darla, thank you for that introduction. I am so honored to be speaking with you and your audience, and I'm also really grateful for the inspiring content that you have provided over the last five seasons of your podcasts. And I also want to take a moment to acknowledge you for tuning into this episode. Your time is precious, and it takes dedication to find moments in your busy life to focus on living with real intention. So thank you. Thank you for listening.
Speaker Dar
Wow, that's beautiful. Jill, thank you for that gratitude that you're starting with today, before we dive in, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Speaker Jill
Well, after a combined 20-year career, first as a certified public accountant with two of the big four accounting firms, and then as an attorney supporting hundreds of people, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening after my father ended his own life, and I embarked on a healing journey, basically following my curiosity and eventually left my career. And today, I help high achieving professionals, mostly women, who've checked all of the boxes yet still feel numb and exhausted, find their purpose and rewrite success on their own terms without burning out so they can pursue what truly lights them up and stop living on autopilot.
Speaker Dar
Well, I know there's much more to your story, so are you willing to tell us a little bit more about this journey?
Speaker Jill
Yes, yes, of course. And I do, I do want to start by giving a trigger warning. I'm about to talk about a suicide. So I'm just going to pause for a moment if this is unexpected information and not the right time for someone to listen to be vulnerable with you. Eight years ago, my father took his own life, and it turned my world upside down. And at the time, I was a successful attorney, but inside, after it happened, it caused me to question everything, the meaning of life, the purpose of our time here, and whether I was truly living in alignment with what mattered the most. After traveling from Massachusetts to Minnesota during a stunned day when my wife and I arrived at my parents’ home the day it happened, I felt a sense of dread. My mom wouldn't leave, and I didn't want to leave her alone, so my wife and I stayed in the basement, trying to sleep on a two seater couch, and I lay awake desperate for sleep to provide escape, and instead listen to the tick tock, tick tock, of this really loud clock in the basement, and the whoosh of this temperature controlled fireplace, which kept turning on and off, and those sounds like kept snapping me back into a reality I didn't want to be mine, and it felt like hell on earth. And I kept asking myself, why did this happen? Over and over, and I acutely realized our time on Earth is limited. And a few days later, in that same basement, I was still grieving and exhausted, but I was writing remarks for the funeral, and I saw a spider crawl across the floor, and I didn't want to kill it, not after so much death, but I felt this duty to prevent an infestation, so reluctantly, I got up and I killed it, and I sat back down to continue writing, and immediately After I heard my father's voice in my ear. Why did you do that? And all I could say was, I didn't want to. I'm so tired, it's snowing outside, and it's all too much right. Now, something shifted in that moment, and I felt his presence like not as a memory, but something more in this warmth, this quiet warmth, settled in, and I felt and believed there's more to life than what we can see. Then I remembered a trusted medium I had seen years earlier in Boston, and she knew things that she couldn't have known that surprised me, and I needed to know if there were answers, so I immediately booked a session during her first opening, which ended up being on the one. The month anniversary of his death, and the messages I received during that session provided answers where there had been none, and we later confirmed those answers with the autopsy. And that session was extremely healing for me, and it reawakened an interest that I had set aside for a long time, and that was my earlier fascination with the unseen, like the supernatural and the mysteries beyond. And that was the moment I stopped pretending my present every day felt really painful, and I didn't want it to be my reality. And that made me wake up and contemplate what I really wanted in my life instead. And I let go of the belief that only what we can see is real, and I began following the spark of my spiritual awakening. And three years later, I stood at my home in Hawaii looking out at the ocean as the full Moon lit up the sky and the water, and in that stillness, I felt alive. I felt awake and deeply grateful, and I realized that nothing, not my years as a CPA, not an attorney, not even my deepest grief, had been a mistake, even when I couldn't see it at the time, my soul had been guiding me all along, and I felt a powerful integrity between my inner compass and outer world, and that's why now I'm so passionate about helping high achieving professionals, mostly women, step out of autopilot and create lives that they're excited to wake up to With clarity spiritual connection and a renewed sense of purpose.
Speaker Dar
Thank you for being so vulnerable, telling that entire story that takes such remarkable, remarkable courage and helping others wake up excited with clarity and spiritual connection is a great work, and we want to hear even more about that. Now, I know you had a prophetic dream. Will you share that with us?
Speaker Jill
Of course, if you believe in signs, this dream pushed me to pay attention to the unseen world like no other. So on Sunday night, four days before my father died, I hid a dream that stayed with me. In this dream, I was floating in space watching another version of myself at a control panel with her back turned to me, this space version at the control panel turned to face me, the dreaming version of me, and calmly said there were two suicides, and that was the end of the dream. I told my wife about it on our drive to work that Monday morning, and we both felt like the oddness of it, and then just went about our days and didn't give it much thought. And on Thursday, the call about my father came, and I remember that hollow like sinking feeling and how real life rearranged itself around that one phone call, and a few weeks later, someone else in my circle also ended their life. And I don't know for sure what that dream was, but it got my attention, and I'll never forget it. It was a powerful reminder that there are things happening around us that we can't always explain, and as part of my healing and grieving journey, I then studied with a medium and met some of my Spirit Guides. I learned Reiki and learned about energy, became certified in way finders, life coach training, attended retreats where I met with different light work workers, and later, after resigning from my job, I studied shamanism and journeying with the drum. I actually love talking with clients about unusual dreams they remember, and we dive into possible interpretations when we work together. I think that there's so much meaning in the dream state.
Speaker Dar
I do too, that resonates with me. And of course, you have a Reiki. I have a training and healing touch, and the power of the drum is one of my favorite tools as well. Would you tell us about meeting your spirit guides, because when we talk about the universe speaking, is anyone listening? Spirit guides come into play?
Speaker 1 Jill
Yes, of course. And I actually have a free gift for anyone interested in this that you can download after this podcast. Yeah, to meet my Spirit Guides. It was simple, and it can be simple for you too. I set a clear intention of wanting to meet them, and I simply asked, out loud, spirit guides, would you please tell me your names and purpose in my life? And then I let it go, and I went about my days, and I met three spirit guides on three different occasions, and each time it happened, it was just as I was drifting off to sleep for a nap. And I did not nap very much during that time, but for whatever reason, during that week, I felt tired, and I had a carved out time in my day to nap, and the information came suddenly, almost like a file downloading into my mind, where one moment I didn't know and the next I just knew. And as you know, that sudden, wordless knowing is often called Clear cognizance, and it's basically an intuitive download. So I wrote their unusual names down before I fell fully asleep so I wouldn't forget. And that's just my experience. People receive guidance in different ways, so your experience may look different, but if you want to play with it, I invite you to download the free guide I created.
Speaker Dar
We'll have that information for everybody in the show notes. So I also know the names of my Spirit Guides, and I have met them on various occasions. And then I have become recently aware that sometimes a guide will come in with short term purpose, maybe to heal or maybe to help you through a rough patch, and then when their job is done, they'll disappear. So I don't know if you've had that happen to you or not, but will you describe your guides for us?
Speaker Jill
Yes, yes. And that completely, completely resonates with me. Darla, the first one, showed up as an ancient warrior, and he's calm and disciplined, wearing simple ivory robes. His name is Kamash, and he guides me to make sure that what I do is done well and with integrity. The second appeared as little pops of colorful light and a cloud, and her name is eisendor, and she's a spark and supports my creativity and gets excited when I begin a creative project, and I often call on them and ask for assistance and insight, especially if I'm starting a big project or if I feel stuck with something. And I was really grateful to meet those two, but a few days later, I had the sense that someone else was missing, and a short time after that, an older woman in cloaks came through, and her name is Beth Melsea, and her purpose is love. And she reminds me, I'm always loved. And then I realized she had actually been with me 25 years ago, and she had delivered a message that saved me in one of my darkest moments.
Speaker Dar
Oh, now you've got us curious. Would you share that story?
Speaker Jill
Yes, yes. So during my senior year of college at a Catholic University, and this was a school that
I loved attending, and I met so many kind people, and I still love this place, I had decided to give my relationship with my now wife an honest chance to see if it would work, and I struggled. I was raised Catholic, and this was 25 years ago in the Midwest, and the same sex relationship felt really risky, and we hid this from our friends because we feared we wouldn't be accepted. There was just a lot of fear. And Jenny had already graduated, and I was alone. And one night, I was feeling particularly alone and really needed someone to talk with. And that night in our dorm's chapel, they were hosting confession, and I loved attending Mass in the chapel, and I felt a real sense of belonging and community there. And I decided to talk with a priest. It seemed like their sermons were always geared toward the student body, and I found them helpful. My hands were sweaty, and my heart felt like it wanted to be out of my throat as I sat before the priest and said, I'm having more than friend feelings for a female friend of mine, and it felt like a furnace in the chapel as those words came out and the priest immediately were. Bonded. It is not a mortal sin to have those feelings, but it is to act on them. Have you acted on them? And I felt like time had just stopped, and my shame flooded in, and I needed to get out fast, so I lied No, and I wrapped up the confession in a blur as soon as I could, and I quickly returned to my single dorm room, and I fell on my bed, and I cried with my entire body, and I thought, not only had I committed a mortal sin, I have now lied about it to a priest, and I felt worthless, lower than dirt, and I wondered, like, why am I even on this planet? And then a quiet voice came in to my mind's ear that sounded different from the thoughts that were spiraling in my mind, and that different voice calmly said, Jill, religion is man made, so it is inherently flawed. It is your spirituality that matters. Instantly, I was calmed like this resonated and it felt like truth and blanketed me with a sense of peace. I believe we all have a personal connection to God or source or the universe, whatever you want to call it, and I felt that. And after I learned of Beth Melsea, I knew it had been her quiet, calm and loving message that had reached me back then, and her love provided truth and comfort when I needed it most, and I'm so grateful because my relationship with Jenny lasted and I cannot count the times I have been so thankful that she's by my side in this lifetime.
Speaker Dar
Thank you again. You're sharing such vulnerable stories, and I'm sure our audience can resonate with much of it. Thank you. Is there anything else? Is there anything else that you're thinking that we as an audience need to know about spirit guides that you could share with us?
Speaker Jill
Yeah, you know, I think that we we all, and I think you probably agree with this, we all have spirit guides that are ready and willing to provide insights, and sometimes they come through during our most challenging times, like what I've just shared, and other times we simply need to just ask for their support and guidance, and then get still and listen,
Speaker Dar
Yes, and I think one of the hardest parts is actually asking. And then how do you know if a spirit guide is just your inner voice, just your imagination.
Speaker Jill
You know, we don't know for sure, and I think that information could seem like it's coming from an external spirit guide, like what I've shared, but it could be parts of our own consciousness, or, you know, maybe echoes of a past, of past lives, if you believe in reincarnation, or could be our imagination. And I think that's all okay. What matters more than the label is how the guidance shows up. If it's subtle wisdom that's calm, insightful, non-judging, and if it brings you clarity, peace or even healthier choices treated as usable wisdom. If it's harsh, shaming or judgmental, that's likely not guidance from your higher self or spirit, and call it spirit guides, inner wisdom, guardian angels or your higher self, whatever language helps you access peace, if it brings love and clarity, that's a win in my book.
Speaker Dar
Me too. If it brings love and clarity, that is indeed a win. Let's change gears a little bit, and I'd love it if you could share some success stories about your work with clients.
Speaker Jill
Of course, of course, and I'll keep details general to protect privacy, but one of my favorite exercises with clients is a guided meditation where they meet a guide and receive wisdom tied to an intention that they set. And what always surprises me is how wise and useful the guidance can be, and it's often more helpful than anything we could have talked our way into using logic alone, and it lands not only in the client's mind, but there's often a feeling that accompanies the wisdom that deeply resonates as truth in their bodies, and this stays with them, and. So for example, a client came to me concerned about her son, who was moving out of state for the year, and during her journey, the guide showed her many things and provided information that resonated. But one of the things she showed they were standing by a creek, and she showed an image of her son like far off shore, floating in an inner tube, leaning back and waving totally at ease, and seeing this image lessened her stress, and we worked together through that year, and indeed, he did well and returned safely.
Speaker Dar
That was such a fun story. Please tell us about the gift you have for our listeners.
