Shadow Work (What Has Been Hidden) with A’sha Love
On today’s episode, we’re stepping into the tender territory of shadow work — the parts of ourselves we’ve tucked away, judged, or learned to hide — and learning how to meet them with love instead of fear. My guest, A’sha Love, shares her remarkable path from a traditional life to a spiritual awakening. Together, we’ll explore why shadow work is especially essential for healers and sensitive women: how unprocessed ancestral patterns and unconscious motivations quietly shape our choices, and how alchemizing these shadows can turn us into clearer, more powerful conduits for healing.
A’sha reminds us that transformation doesn’t have to be heavy — that playfulness, curiosity, and unconditional love are some of the strongest medicines we have. Follow along with her beautiful heart-opening practice to release stored tension and reconnect with your own inner light. And if you’d like to go deeper, her book Love Is the Foundation and her free daily grounding and clearing meditation are available on her website.
A’sha Love is a multidimensional guide, speaker, and author who walks with healers, empaths, and visionaries as they step into fuller soul alignment. Since her awakening in 2008, she has supported thousands through profound transitions, helping them reclaim their truth, their voice, and their visibility. Settle in, soften your shoulders… and let’s call in what has been hidden! Call in Shadow work “Call IT in with Dar!”

Speaker Dar
Welcome in. I'm so excited about our topic today, talking about shadow work. Would you tell everyone a little bit about yourself and how you got to this point in your life?
SpeakerA’sha
You bet Darla, thank you so much for having me on your podcast. Let's see where to begin. Well in 2008 and nine, I was about 3233 my father became ill with lung cancer, and I had led a very conventional life up until that point, my family rallied around him. He had beat cancer 40 years prior, so we went into the same mindset. He'll beat it again. But one day in the fall of oh eight, I was visiting him, and I received what felt like a direct transmission, and and the knowing was instant, and here's what the knowing said he will not be staying and so some greater part of me understood that something big was afoot and that this was true. My human part wasn't sure what to do with it. I didn't tell anybody else about it, but I did quietly rearrange my schedule so I could spend a lot more time with my father. Sure enough, six months later, he passed. Right before he passed, he was in the ICU. I perceived his childhood friend Gary behind him in the hospital room. And I had had a few experiences like this throughout my life, so it didn't shock me completely, but I just also, in that moment, understood that, oh, Dad's leaving, Gary's here for him, okay, and looking back, I ended up helping midwife my dad out and had the most amazing shared near-death experience with him. It was a movie reel of images of all of our shared memories in this lifetime. So it was quite a parting gift, and a tremendous amount of energy surge came with it. And then I went home, and I went into grief, because what actually took his life was he had the widow maker condition, so there was really nothing they could do for it with his heart. And so we were all in shock, and I went through a period of grieving, and he started showing up in my car, and at night, when I was up, after everyone else had gone to bed, and I thought I had just invented it because I missed my dad. But of course, it turns out that this was the beginning of my multi-dimensional awakening. And then spirit guides started appearing, and then they were telling me I had important work to do and that I needed to begin working as a spirit medium, which I won't lie at the time, made me want to hyperventilate in a paper bag because I didn't think I could do any of that. I started to do it anonymously by donation. And then discovered, wait, wait, this really is a very profound healing gift. I decided it wasn't mine to sit on or withhold from the world, so I worked on developing it, and then it went from there. And what I found was I wasn't just channeling people's loved ones who had passed. I was channeling their spirit guides. And the people coming to me were healers, and their spirit guides were trying to get in touch with them, to get them on track with the soul plan they wrote for this lifetime. And that's pretty much, you know, there have been many iterations. It went extraterrestrial, extra dimensional, further afield, but that's I've stayed in that same wheelhouse ever since, of helping, you know, walking my own path, of coming up out of a very conventional upbringing, to then recognize, wait a minute, I have another plan for my life here, and how do I navigate that? And to this day, that is what I am. I am up to in the world, and then specifically these days, it's to help all the world's healers circle the wagons to go find their blind spots in the wounded motivation they might still be carrying the judgments, the conditional love usually associated with the ancestral line that they took on. So that is, that's kind of it in a nutshell. And of course, you can imagine, there are so many stories along the way, but I am in alignment with my soul plan, which is to help the world's healers align with theirs.
Speaker Dar
Beautiful! What a wonderful and profound, profound story helping healers with blind spots that leads us into today's topic of Shadow Work and loving what's been hidden. I'll just have you dive in
Speaker A’sha
Absolutely so I want to zoom out and give everyone context to make more sense of this. As souls and spirits, healers tend to be the older souls we. They're moved through a lot of their own experiences, and want to turn around and be of service. But we have to incarnate into a human form. And I often make the joke like, you have to pick what's on the lot. Like if you go to buy a car, you got to pick what's on the lot. And the lot on Earth, on planet earth, when it comes to humanity, is that, you know, most human families have not gotten around to deep ancestral healing yet. So many healers in this lifetime have taken what's available, but also just the session. This morning, her team was revealing, we like a challenge, and so we take on even more density because we're confident that we can alchemize that with remembering that we are in love through a spiritual awakening while we're incarnate. But big but caveat, we get here, and then we get lost, we forget. We succumb to social conditioning, family fears that have been handed down, and we can lose our way. And so part of getting in alignment, back on track with your soul plan and pursuing that, usually it's your heart's desires. You have those desires because they are your soul plan. And we hit roadblocks. And the roadblocks tend to be exactly what I'm talking about: the local consciousness of the body. The body is almost like the horse, and the spirit, the soul, is like the rider. And many of us have gotten into a bit of a push pull, sometimes even full-blown civil war between those consciousnesses, because the spirit has its plan here, but the body is carrying it 1000s of years, hundreds of years of ancestral trauma and fears, and its job is to protect itself and survive. And so what we're doing when we do deeper shadow work is we're going in to find, Hey, what is the body still carrying that was never alchemized? You know, did ancestors have to flee? Were some of them abandoned and underneath it? Then they develop a protective mechanism so that we can't trust others. We can't ask for help. We have to do this all on our own, and then what was an asset to survive now becomes a liability when we are trying to balance ourselves out and become the healer we were meant to be, which means not carrying distortion, wounding, shadow, judgment, fear in the body itself. And so that's the deep excavation of going and finding all of these blind spots, and when they're your own. I'm no exception. I have to get help with mine. That's just the nature of it. And I would say that's an important part, because if we're always giving and not receiving, that's not balanced. And in these physics, when you know this time of accelerated electron spin, you know, if we have an imbalance like that, think of a car a wobble when the you know, in a wheel at five miles an hour isn't a big deal, but at 80 miles an hour, the whole car is going to come apart. So everyone is being guided now to be with what is surfacing, and we're in a time I'm sure some of your listeners are going to resonate with us. Wow, there's just a lot coming up because our ancestors didn't, didn't alchemize this. I come from a good, German, stoic stock of feelings. What feelings? That's just, we just push that way down, right? But that's not what's going to carry forward at this time. And so it's working with all that raw material to alchemize it, meet it with unconditional love, and then it repurposes into what I've been told is the primary principle of creation, which isn't survival, it's play, something much more playful, much more joyful.
Speaker Dar
Wow, repurpose into play. That's a far cry from the family fears and body being like a horse. That was a great analogy when we start talking about shadow work, where do you think is a good starting place, judgment?
Speaker A’sha
So this is a moment without so we gotta be careful here. We're not going to judge the judger either, but just take a moment and contemplate. Where do you find yourself still judging others or the world or your life or yourself? Classic one we encounter a lot with people is it's not okay to just be. I need to be productive. I need to be doing something. And a lot of ancestral conditioning around being lazy and unproductive and idle and really beginning to unpack that and showing yourself, wow, I really don't love myself or find the part of me that needs to rest or just be lovable or acceptable, hm, maybe I can meet that differently and decommission that judgment. It's inner. Armament. And the more we do that, we find all the edges and we soften and soften and soften them and alchemize them. Here's the paradox, Darla, we become one of the most powerful healing presences on the planet. This is how all of the Masters healed. They didn't have to do anything. They had simply found and dissolved and alchemized all the distortion that blocked their own expression as a fractal of source love incarnate. And once they did that, as you move around the world, the reality fields around you shift, and you invite and then train others into this exact same kind of alchemy. No dis ease, Discord or disharmony can exist within your vicinity.
Speaker Dar
Wow, that is definitely let's use the old saying food for thought. I really resonate with that whole idea that we sometimes feel we need to be doing something, and if we're not, we're being lazy or we're misusing time. Could you go into that a little bit deeper?
Speaker A’sha
Yes, it's already been queued up. So perfect. I'm just listening to the greater field of guides who are here to help everyone. Everyone's right, everyone's spirit teams show up. The largest, most pernicious shadow on the planet is this notion of somehow, quote, unquote, getting it right. There is no right or wrong. I'll quote the Sufi poet Rumi, out beyond right, doing and wrongdoing, there is a field I will meet you there. The reason that exists is because we, humanity, have been living in a fragmented state of separation, consciousness, forgetting that they themselves are source love, source God, a fractal of a beautiful, unique expression of the one. So when we begin to meet that wounded motivation of trying to get it right with love and we disarm it, we begin to recognize that drive to always be doing something comes from ancestral survival mechanisms. We quite literally had to be plowing a field moving forward. But underneath it is the separation from ourselves, a source that if you get to the shadow of the shadow that we are not loved. We were abandoned by God. We are not God, and we are not worthy, and we're not lovable, and this is what so much of the ancestral lines on the planet are still carrying. And so unless we turn and work with that, we'll still be operating from a place of trying to manifest a life that we can quote, unquote, be proud of. But it's all from wounded motivation of I don't love myself as I am, so we're having to deconstruct a lot of that now and meet ourselves with absolute equanimity and unconditional love and change the foundation. I joke I've had to deconstruct my life a few times, down to the studs or beyond, and with love, true, unconditional love is our foundation. Then what we build from there on out will be sustainable going forward in the higher frequencies that we're entering, not to mention that it's just going to be much more of a joyful, playful experience. So we had the mindfulness revolution. We're just entering the playfulness revolution, we're just beginning to wake back up and remember that play, not survival, is the primary principle of creation.
Speaker Dar
Love that reminder playfulness, yes. So when you talk about deconstructing life down to the studs. What a beautiful analogy, although, you know, I'm sure very, very trying and lots of work. So could you give us some case study examples without, you know, without interfering with confidentiality, of course, but just some things in general, where you have seen some of this transformation occur, and it's possible for the healers out there,
Speaker A’sha
Absolutely, I'd be happy if one that pops in is the idea of when we don't understand that we're operating from wounded motivation, meaning, my, let's see one parent, let's say the father, in the case of one person. But I feel like I'm speaking in templates. Now this is like an archetype for so many, for all the. Reasons we understand. You know, an adult, due to their own childhood trauma and unresolved ancestral trauma is not able to give unconditional love to their child. That child then grows up, let's say, to become, you know, a transformational coach, helping others, but very motivated to succeed, especially financially, because in their blind spot is the wounded motivation of then my father will love me when I'm doing well, because that's what he values, is financial success. So chasing financial success from the shadow of I'm going to chase the love this way, because if I'm not financially successful, my father won't love me as much when that father passes away, that person lost all their motivation, because it wasn't coming from an innate passion and part of their soul plan. It was coming from the shadow and wounding of my father won't let me love me unless I'm successful financially. So then everything collapses, and then, you know, we're circling the wagons, and she was getting homework assignments like, let's play and skip and sing and reclaim playfulness, and then moving out in the world with her true passion, which is helping women. So that's one really specific example, but I feel like there are a lot of different archetypes for many people to relate to in there. Another one would be this idea of, I don't want to repeat, you know, what my parents' relationship was like, so I'm going to avoid relationships at all cost. But that's not conscious. It's just kind of like, that's just facts. That's how I do life. But underneath it is the wounding of, you know, my father never really appreciated who I was, never even paid attention to me. And then the person that, in this case, this is a doctor, played this out across life with different supervisors and, you know, in authority roles over her. So we never really get away from the opportunity to alchemize our wounding. We just tend to usually be unconscious of it. I will say during this time, it feels like our wounding is getting so amplified in the mirror dimension in which we live that we can't miss it, which can be a good thing if you understand what's happening, and we can stay out of any sort of victim stories, and just be grateful for the knowledge that we live in a reflection, and to work with that reflection, to understand that what's projecting from our field is the raw material of being able to see what our wounding is and then work with it much more consciously. But these can be I, you know, I give those examples. And you know, you and I were speaking before we got on. I still have to seek out help as I should. We should all be giving and receiving, because the blind spots can be just so pernicious. I have the delight of getting to watch a client's face when that blind spot is illuminated, and they often have this moment of almost shock and then realization of oh my gosh, this explains so much Speaker Dar
Fun transformation with those clients. Awesome. I would love it. If you could lead our audience through an activity, if you would tell them the benefits, perhaps first, and then we'll go through a short activity.
Speaker A’sha
Perfect. Yeah, let's just do a short Heart Meditation. So I'd invite everyone to place one hand over your high heart, and then the second hand over that hand so two hands over, kind of bring your arms into your side and hold your body and gently press both hands into the heart center, so you're simultaneously releasing oxytocin and holding yourself and kind of coming back into your body. Go ahead and close your eyes and focus on your breath, breathing in and out with a closed mouth through the nose, and see if you can lengthen The breath in and lengthen it out, slow it down as you breathe in, let your belly expand and as you Breathe out, almost let yourself sigh as you breathe out, focus on releasing stored tension in your body, and then return to gentle breathing in and out as you settle into your heart space, just settling down out of the. Mind your heart and let yourself rest. And then my field is just going to support you and help clear out any old stories, programs, files that would not allow you to rest. So we're making shifts in your template. There we go. That feels good. I'm feeling people's lower backs release, and the heart's opening more, and we're clearing the throat and the solar plexus, and we're bringing in lots and lots of tender, loving care and nurture to your most tender, wounded, exiled parts, bringing them home into the heart of yourself, all the ways in which you may still feel you're not loved, supported, cared about shifting, shifting, all of that. And now we're taking lots and lots off the shoulders, the over responsibility, the overdoing, the overthinking. Yeah, there we go. As we do that the body naturally wants to play, so we're allowing the body to come into a playful state, almost like removing a yoke, heavy, wooden yoke of burden off the shoulders.
There we go. That feels much better. And then just coming to the still point in your heart center and being in stillness, beautiful, and with that, we're complete.
Speaker Dar
So powerful. I hope so. Oh yes, it takes me a minute to get back, of course, to to where we are carrying on our next conversation. I would love it if you tell everybody about your writing.
Speaker A’sha
Yeah, so I was, this is a wonderful, fun story. I was told to write a book in 22 and I remember thinking initially, resistance, that's a lot of work. That was the story. But I said, Okay, I'll do that for my own spirit guides, right? And the very next day, I was contacted on LinkedIn by someone who said, You seem like an interesting thought leader. Have you ever thought about writing a book? Can we help with that? And I laughed. And I thought, okay, here it is. I signed up. They helped me write it. It was very easy, and that is the book. Love is the Foundation. And it's basically a compendium of all of the messages and wisdom that I channeled for years from people's spirit guides put into kind of a fun, light hearted and cheeky book.
Speaker Dar
And again, that's love is the foundation. Yes, so we could. Can we find that on Amazon? You can, all right, we need to know that. Great. And I would like you to talk a little bit about a gift that you have that will really benefit our audience.
Speaker A’sha
Yes, this is a good time to mention too, because I don't think I did during the meditation, if you felt a little dizzy or anything like that, that's pretty normal with this kind of multi dimensional template work, and so drink a lot of water. Get rest if you need it. And the gift I have on my website is a daily grounding and clearing meditation, which is quite similar, but it teaches you how to move through each of your energy centers and kind of just get rid of the ick that builds up. So October, I proclaim last year's World psychic hygiene month. So I'm a big proponent of taking your psychic hygiene seriously. And, you know, we can, we can take on a lot of other people's energies throughout the day and then end up feeling very heavy and not knowing why. So it's, you know, hundreds of 1000s of people have used this, and they have reported that it's significantly changed their lives. They feel much better. There could be a little bit again, of physical symptoms, as you clear, kind of like a physical detox, but that's on the website, right?
Speaker Dar
Right so ground and clear, the energy that sounds like something that we can all benefit from, and you already mentioned that quite a few people have benefited from it already. Before we close, this information will all be in the show notes. But before we close, is there anything that you're being called to tell our audience about.
Speaker A’sha
Yeah, this is interesting. What's coming in from the field is to lean into your animal friends. So if you have pets, they're here in support of you. If you have wildlife that shows up in your yard, to really allow yourself to take advantage of your soul family and spirit team in animal form, pets, dogs, cats, all, yeah, there we go. I can feel the ping back from the field. Some people feel like they judge themselves for relying on their pets emotionally. And the spirit guides today want to help everyone understand that that's actually why they're here. So they are here to support us in our awakening, in our emotional healing.
Speaker Dar
Well, that is such an interesting message, because I have three deer that have been visiting every night at dusk, and I have a companion poodle, a tiny toy poodle that goes everywhere with me.
Speaker A’sha
There you go. Yes, I’ll let you know. I'll just say Darla, being human and doing the human journey. It's very challenging at times, and so the teams are just wanting everyone to make use of the support that is here, incarnate with us, just happens to be in a different species.
Speaker Dar
Wonderful and how fun, and I am feeling that playfulness from you as being one of our big intentions now in this world now,
Speaker A’sha
absolutely let the playfulness revolution commence.
Speaker Dar
Yes, yes, thank you so much for being with us today.
Speaker A’sha
Thank you so much, Darla. Bye.
