The Body Never Lies with Lya Christensen
Today’s conversation is one I know will stay with you long after you hit “pause.” My guest, Lya, has been in the fitness world since the late ’90s—but she didn’t stop at reps, posture, or form. Over the years, she followed the quiet wisdom of the body into something far deeper. She’s now the founder of Integrative Body & Energy Balancing™, a multidimensional healing approach that weaves together movement science, somatic intelligence, and intuitive energetic guidance.
What sets Lya apart is her extraordinary ability to read the body—structural patterns, emotional imprints, energetic blocks—and translate them into simple, practical steps for healing. Her clients often describe the experience as finally being understood on every level: mind, body, and soul. You’ll hear her share a powerful story about a woman she calls “L,” who arrived in pain and self-doubt and walked away with easier movement, a transformed sense of self, and a renewed trust in her own body.
And you’ll get a taste of Lya’s work yourself through a guided exercise that helps you recognize how thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations intertwine. Lia’s been doing this work for more than two decades, drawing from Pilates, fascial movement, Reiki, emotion-release modalities, and a deeply attuned intuitive gift. But at the heart of everything she teaches is this simple truth: the body never lies. It’s constantly communicating, constantly guiding us back to alignment—when we know how to listen. She also offers the audience a free gift.
If you feel pulled toward more ease, more clarity, or simply more understanding of what your body’s been trying to tell you, you’re going to love this episode. So let’s Call IN This is a conversation about healing, trust, and returning to the truest version of yourself. Call IT in With Dar!

Welcome in Lydia…. I'm so excited to have you with us and our exciting topic, the body never lies. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got to this point.
Speaker Lydia
Thank you so much for having me, Darla, my journey really began in the late 90s when I became a fitness trainer. I loved helping people move better and feel stronger. But I noticed something early on, sometimes even when we corrected the mechanics, the pain or limitations would come back. That curiosity led me deeper into Pilates, and by 2004 I was fully immersed in the stop Pilates method. I spent years working with people who had chronic pain, postural issues and movement dysfunctions, where I began to see these patterns, the physical imbalances were often connected to emotional or energetic blockages. When I had reached my mid-30s, I had my own wake up moment. I remember feeling my body and thinking, if this is what aging is, I'm not interested. That realization sent me on a mission, and I spent 1000s of hours researching, studying and personally experimenting with ways to create a pain free, freely moving body. And everything I discovered became part of what I've shared with my clients ever since, along the way, I learned something that changed everything. The body never lies. It's always communicating, always telling the truth. The question is, can we interpret its language in a way we can understand that insight guided me into deeper exploration. Throughout the years, I studied neurokinetic therapy, fascial movement and soul realignment, even though I didn't complete those certifications, each one profoundly influenced how I understand the body's intelligence and the relationship between structure, energy and emotion. I am a Reiki's Master, and obtained my certifications in Emotion Code, Body Code and belief code systems. Through that evolution, I began weaving together the physical, the energetic and the emotional bodies, and what emerged was what I now call integrative body and energy balancing, a method that merges all three layers of healing into one coherent practice.
Speaker Dar
Oh, I love that tackling all the areas of health tell us more about your healing method and how the body never lies. That's fascinating.
Speaker Lydia
Thank you. The topic I'm sharing is based on the integrative body and energy balancing a modality I have created, and at its heart, it's about helping people find alignment between what the mind believes, what the heart feels, and what the body expresses when these three aspects are in harmony, movement feels effortless, emotions flow and the nervous system relaxes, but when one layer is out of sync, say, the mind is pushing, but the body is resisting, we See that show up as pain, fatigue or emotional overwhelm, this work isn't about fixing the body. It's about listening to it. Every pain pattern, posture and energetic imbalance is a form of communication. The body never lies. It always tells the truth of your current state. And one of the most profound things I've learned over the years is that any part of the body, directly or indirectly, affects every other part. You can't isolate one area from the whole. We are not a collection of parts. We are one integrated unit at the most fundamental level, we are nature, we are physics, we are chemistry. The same laws that govern tides, trees and seasons also govern our internal flow when we understand and respect that becomes a process of remembering how to move with nature, not against it.
Speaker Dar
I love that, especially the one integrated unit where the mind believes the heart feels and the body expresses. Could you share with us some client success stories? We, of course, want you to keep your clients confidential and just share with us some of the transformation you've seen.
Speaker Lydia
Certainly, they are the highlight of what I do, I love watching their changes and the profound effect it can have in their movement and in their lives. So with this particular client, when she first came to me, let me call her L, our focus was purely physical posture, strength, movement mechanics. But very quickly, it became clear that her progress wasn't just about the body, it was about the mind and emotions too. She was open and curious, so we began exploring her well-being from a more holistic perspective, blending structural work with energetic and emotional balancing. Sometimes that meant trying tools, trying areas that felt a little different from what she was used to, but she trusted the process and began to see powerful changes. What I love about her journey is that she discovered how deeply connected her body, mind and energy really are, although we've always, only ever worked together online, she often says she feels seen and supported at a level she hasn't experienced with others, even when they were in person. She shared that our work has not only helped her body move with greater ease, but has also shifted how she feels about herself. She's lighter, clearer and more grounded. Her words meant a lot to me when she said, Laya, you've had a profound effect on my life, and thank you for that, and that's really the essence of integrative body and energy balancing. It's not just about fixing pain, it's about helping people return to their natural state of flow, strength and self-trust.
Speaker Dar
Oh, yes, thank you for sharing that with us. And I love, love, love, how that turned out for her, with self-trust and can that that's just gonna last the rest of her lifetime. How wonderful could you lead our audience through a guided activity? I can't wait.
Speaker Lydia
I certainly can, Darla, I appreciate the invitation. This is going to be one of the things that I do with many of my clients on a regular basis so that they can understand more of how the process of these different layers work. So we're going to take a few minutes. Let's walk through this together, and I want everybody to take a moment to get comfortable, find a place to sit or lie that you can relax, if you would like, close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Let yourself get settled into this position. Allow yourself to arrive.
Take one slow breath in and let it out.
Now, bring to mind a situation, a person, or even a thought that's been living in your awareness lately. It doesn't have to be big one, just something real, something present.
As you think about it, notice the words that come up in your mind.
What story are you telling yourself about this?
Maybe you hear things like, I can't handle this. Or, why does this always happen?
Or maybe it's something softer, I just want to understand. Don't change the words. Just notice them. Breathe in and slowly exhale.
Now let.
Yes, move to the emotion that follows that thought.
Take a moment what feeling comes with it. Is it frustration? It could be sadness, guilt, hope, longing.
Take a moment to find the emotion.
There is no right or wrong.
Whatever it is, name it silently to yourself.
Now let's bring your attention to your body. Where do you feel that emotion the most is it in your chest, your stomach,
your throat, shoulders.
Just scan. There's no right or wrong, just information. As you focus there, notice the qualities of the sensation.
Is it tight or heavy? Does it feel sharp, dull or achy?
Does it pulse or spread over a large area?
You don't need to fix it.
Just describe it internally, like you're observing weather patterns inside your body.
Here's what's really happening beneath the surface.
Every thought has an energetic frequency, a vibration that carries a certain quality.
Your emotions follow that frequency. They're the body's way of translating energy into feeling.
Each emotion has its own chemical, hormonal mixture that gets released into your body. That's the physical sensation you're noticing your body then responds to that chemistry with muscle tone, breath patterns and postural changes, what we often call tension, strain or even pain, and because every part of the body affects every other part, that emotional ripple can move through your entire system, influencing how you breathe, move and even think. So this sequence of belief to thought, to emotion to chemical response and physical sensation is the natural flow of communication in your system.
It's not a mistake. It's your body speaking to you.
When you start to notice the chain without judgment, you gain the ability to interrupt it, to shift it. You can choose a different belief, a new thought, invite a new feeling, breathe differently and allow your body to relax back into balance.
That's how healing begins through awareness. It's not about forcing change. It's about learning to listen to your body's language one sensation at a time.
The body never lies One last inhale and let a deep sigh out.
Speaker Dar
That was phenomenal. I'm sure that our audience really benefited from feeling all three of those levels. And I thought it was really interesting, because I think that many of us have the tendency to just judge and change it, judge and try to change it. But this method, you had more of a flow and a gentle kind of nudging of it, out of the body, maybe out of the mind,
Speaker Lydia
…out of the emotions. Can it just flowed out. It didn't need to be, like, kicked out.
Speaker Dar
Yeah, so would you Okay? Could you tell us about your free gift and exciting breakthrough call?
Speaker Lydia
I'd love to share a free resource with everyone called the Freedom pause. It's a short guided practice that helps you slow down, reconnect with your body and release the tension that builds up between belief, thought, emotion and movement. It's a reminder that real freedom begins the moment you pause and listen. You can get your Free copy at I am I will.com forward slash gift.
Speaker Lydia
And if you'd like to explore your next step. I also offer free energy to move again through a breakthrough call. It's a 55-minute session to help uncover the source of your pain and what's really draining your energy and map out how to restore your natural flow. Both these links are available on my website right now, and be aware that the website is still in development, so be a part of the development, and any feedback is really appreciated. And if there's any concerns, there will be a place to get in touch with us as well, and we look forward to seeing you in the community.
Speaker Dar
Thank you, Lydia that's wonderful. And what a just, what a beautiful free gift and offer to do a call. So we'll have that information in the show notes for our audience. But before we go, do you feel called to let our audience know anything else today before we sign off?
Speaker Lydia
I think the only thing is to say this. If there is only one thing I would like everybody to remember, it's that your body is never working against you. It's always speaking for you. Healing begins the moment you start listening.
Speaker Dar
Oh, that's beautiful. The body is definitely speaking for us, and we n eed to listen. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. What a wonderful session today. So blessed to have you here.
Speaker Lydia
Thank you very much for having me Darla.
