Renée T. White
Renée has been in academic administration for 15 years, most recently as provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs at The New School, where she is currently professor of sociology in the New School for Social Research and Special Advisor to the President. Prior to that, Renée was provost at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. She held faculty positions at Fairfield University, Central Connecticut State University, and Purdue University, where she began her career. Renée is a sociologist and Black feminist and earned her bachelor’s from Brown University and an MA and PhD from Yale University. She serves on the board of several organizations including Ms. Foundation for Women, The Conversation US, and the Rachel Carson Council National Advisory Council. In June 2024, Renée was recognized as one of New York’s 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education.
