58. Breaking the Curse of Self-Sabotage
The word sabotage originates from the early 20th century French word saboter 'to kick with sabots, to wilfully destroy'. In turn, self-sabotage is when we undermine our own goals and values and is an equally destructive force that can hold us back professionally. Its the very human phenomena of when we really want something to happen but we act in a way that works in conflict. The relevance for hybrid working is that millions of us are now working remotely in an unwatched, solo environment based at home. Our homes may be full of personal treats that bewitch and trick us away from our professional tasks. The huge amounts of personal freedom that come from being left to our own devices requires even more self-management to ensure we can handle our vices. We share ideas to break the curse of self-sabotage as the spell of remote-working becomes a permanent fixture.
