Our sins are forgiven through the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. We will not be judged by our mistakes; rather, we will be judged by the Good Works we create, which are rooted in Jesus Christ. We can't let fear of making mistakes rule over us. We can walk confidently in the Sabbath that Jesus died to give us because we know that our lives are pleasing to God.
Don’t let your mistakes stop you. The Bible says we will be judged when we get to heaven. This judgment won’t be to condemn us; rather, it will be to reward us. Because of Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross, if we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, our sins have been washed absolutely clean (Romans 14.12). We can’t be judged by what doesn’t exist (1 John 1.9).
So instead, we will be judged on what we did in the brief life according to the will of God. What actions, thoughts and words are rooted in the Vine of Christ and have formed fruit (John 15.5)? Only that which is anchored in the resurrection of Jesus will be able to rise up into eternity (1 corinthians 3:11-15). This is good news for us. We don’t have to carry around the weight of sin anymore because it has been forgiven. This freedom allows us to step fully into the plans that God has for our lives: “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29.11 NLT).
God gave us free will because He wants sons and daughters, not robots. But He knew we would make mistakes and fall far from His Holy Standard, which is why He already had His redemption plan in place (Romans 3.23). God rested on the 7th day knowing that the Messiah would be Lord over the Sabbath, and He would redeem all six days that were once pleasing to God.
Jesus said in The Book of Mark Chapter 2 verses 27 and 28 (NIV) that He is the Lord over the Sabbath: “So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” The Sabbath is the 7th day of Redemption that reconciles all six days back to God. The Sabbath is a picture of all creation being healed of the effects of sin. And Jesus died on the cross to give us access to the Sabbath. Every day, we can step into the truth that our day is pleasing to God. Our lives are pleasing to God. And our actions done in obedience are pleasing to God. And anything not pleasing is instantly redeemed by the Blood of Jesus. Jesus literally gives us a win-win situation.
Yes, we will stumble and fall and make stupid mistakes, but we can’t let fear stop us from achieving our destiny–the purpose for which God created us. The more we do in obedience to God, the more mistakes we are liable to make. Just like walking. The more you walk, the more likely you will trip on a rock or a crack in the road. But we can’t be a people who bury our talents (Matthew 25.25). We can’t let the fear of making mistakes rule us. Once we confess our sin, our mistakes do not follow us into eternity (1 John 1.9) But what we do for God’s glory will follow us forever!
So again. Don’t let the fear of mistakes stop you from achieving God’s best for your life. Walk confidently in the Sabbath Jesus died to give you. Don’t worry about what other people think. What God believes about you is what truly matters. And through Jesus Christ, He is greatly pleased with you.
