He has been a University Strength and Conditioning Coach. Currently, athletes from across the U.S. travel to him for his two-session speed technique training program. He authored two speed technique training films: Run Your Fastest 40 Ever and Championship Soccer Speed. 
He has worked with over 20,000 athletes including Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman and Super Bowl champion Ricardo Lockette. Jerry Rice and Super Bowl MVP Ray Lewis trusted him to train their sons.  
He is frequently cited as an expert in exercise-induced growth hormone and anaerobic exercise. He is the creator of the Sprint 8 Cardio Protocol featured in award-winning cardio units made by Matrix Fitness for over 15 years. 
Outside Magazine and Forbes.com recommends Sprint 8 to readers. Oprah's O Magazine called Sprint 8 the fastest working workout. Self Magazine recommends Sprint 8 for women to lose weight on their lunch break. 
Phil Campbell is the author of Ready, Set, Go! Fitness, a 384-page fitness book with 170-research citations. Initially published in 2000, the book describes the Sprint 8 HIIT program. This book is now in the second edition, ninth printing. 
He authored the Sprint 8 Cardio Protocol in 2016 after conducting two hospital-based research projects investigating the Sprint 8 Protocol’s impact on exercise-induced growth hormone and Sprint 8 results vs injecting growth hormone and taking statin drugs.
Beginning his fitness career in 1972, he holds two master’s degrees and board certifications by the American College of Sports Medicine and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He has presented with former Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona.  He teaches a 3-hour course across the US that certifies trainers to coach the Sprint 8 Cardio Protocol.
He is originally from Tennessee and now based in San Jose, California.
