The Stoic Jew
My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss. I am, first and foremost, an Orthodox Jew. I am also a student of the Stoic masters: Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius. This podcast is dedicated to exploring the relationship between Judaism and Stoicism - where they overlap, where they differ, and how they complement each other. I also use this podcast to think out loud about how to apply the principles of Judaism and Stoicism to my own life, with all its ups and downs.

This week's Torah content is sponsored by the Reznik family in dedication to the loving memory of Silvia Tanzer (Sora Hesha bas Chaim Moshe) and Irving Tanzer (Yisroel ben Yechezkel).
Synopsis: Today’s episode was inspired by Irving Tanzer, in whose memory this content was dedicated. His granddaughter described him as "happy being happy," and I wanted to explore that idea through the lens of Stoicism and Judaism in light of an idea from Tara Brach and another idea from Anthony de Mello.
