Most high performers are brute-forcing their way through life and calling it discipline.
In this episode, Greg breaks down why business owners, executives, and leaders are athletes - and why refusing to treat yourself like one is costing you money, clarity, and longevity at the top.
Using LeBron James as the model, Greg connects the dots between elite physical optimization and professional dominance and backs it with a simple truth: every client who improved their body also leveled up their income.
You can grind your way to the league. But you can't brute force your way to staying there.
Let’s dive in!
Yo yo yo guys, what is going on? It's your boy GB, man. I appreciate you guys for rocking with me another week on Becoming the Vision, where we talk about becoming the person that you need to be in order to have the life that you so desire, man. As always, I appreciate your time and attention because you guys are fucking amazing all the time, man. And so, um, just rocking into today's topic, man, I just really wanted to talk about why you need to view yourself as a business athlete. Um if you consider yourself a high performer, a go-getter, business owner, exec, leader in the military, whatever it may be, you are a fucking athlete and you need to treat yourself as such. We hear so much about you know LeBron James spending a million dollars on his body and really optimizing his ability to play. I think he's fucking 42 now, like still in the NBA, still giving you 20, 30 points a night. All right, and the reason that he's able to do that is because he completely optimizes how he performs in his profession, which is sports. The thing that I try to get across to other high performers is that your sport is business. Your sport is your career, and it is it is a win-lose type thing. Either you are good enough to make your business accelerate, you are good enough to get the promotions that you were seeking, or you get your ass whipped, you lose in business, you don't perform, your business doesn't grow, you don't get the promotion that you wanted because somebody was just either better than you or out fucking worked you, right? And it always boils down to how well are you taking care of yourself? How well are you taking care of yourself? I have never had a client come in, improve their body, improve their mental performance, and not make exponentially more money, as long as they're not in the military. Because we have a lot of well, I've had a lot of high-ranking officers in the military, right? So they're their income is capped. It's like unless you're branching out from doing something else, right? But in the civilian world, I have never had that happen. And the reason that I've never had it happen is because what happens is that if you look at your career, your profession, your job is to fucking win. But you cannot do that if you are constantly waking up, stressed out, brain fog, lack of clarity on where you're going. It doesn't make you a very effective leader. The day compounds on top of you. Um now, some people can kind of like brute force their way up to a certain point. That's just like anybody in the NBA or NFL. You can brute force your way to the league, you can brute force your way into a successful company, into whatever, right? Successful career. But it's only a matter of time because that before that shit breaks down because you are not optimized. All right, I'll give you a great example. So for me, I was, and this has happened with multiple clients as well, but I'm the one that tested myself first. I've always eaten right and trained hard, right? I've always done that. Um, but what I started to realize is that I just started to feel like ass a lot. No matter how much I slept, I could sleep and then wake up and feel like taking my ass right back to sleep. And I just always felt like I was just underperforming, just badly, right? And I brute forced my way through it, grew my business, like did the shit that I had to do, but it was fucking agonizing. And what you find is that there's just a much better way. Um, what I did find is after blood tests, um, I realized that I was vitamin D deficient, um, which is vitamin D and K, right? Uh, my testosterone had dipped a little bit, and I just wasn't sleeping optimally. Like my stress was through the roof, even though I kept trying to say I wasn't stressed. Like I was more so suppressing it more than like not having it, right? And I just wasn't handling it well. And what I would find is that my training was off because I didn't want to train because I wasn't recovering right, and I felt fatigued, I felt tired, the weights felt heavy, and so obviously I don't feel like doing anything. And where things really started to change for me in my business and also in my um in my uh why am I stuttering in my personal life, right? Is when I had those tests and I optimized not only my hormones, but just my day. We really, as high performers, think we fail to realize how much sleep and recovery plays a part in our ability to perform as a professional athlete, like in the business sense or in the career sense. Because once I started to get my vitamins and everything together, and my blood work and my supplements and my um my food, my nutrition, everything was locked in, boom, clarity, focus, drive, like less uh stressed because you're optimizing, you're handling it better. Think about how tired you get throughout the day. And if somebody really pisses you off, like at the end of the day, you're less likely to be able to handle a stressful situation because you're fatigued. Now, you're doing that all day because you're just not optimized, you're not taking care of yourself. And the reason for this podcast today, guys, is for me to challenge you into looking at your physical attributes, are just as important as your mental attributes to be able to run your company and succeed in your career. It's the same thing. So if you want longevity, if you want to exceed, succeed and pass those that are around you, if you want to operate at a higher fucking level, you have to optimize yourself. Right now, you are trying to win a drag race with one foot on the brake. Like everybody else that's high performing, like especially if they're in shape and making money, they're driving a fucking Ferrari in this race. And you're driving a fucking 1992 Toyota Corolla. If anybody has a 1992 Toyota Corolla on listening to this podcast, I'm sorry. But you know what I mean, right? You're trying to win a race that you're not optimized to win. And going back to me, once I found out all of these things were like holes in my game, because I kept struggling with like brain fog, and I was like, damn, like, why the fuck do I just is something wrong? What's going on with me? Right? And once I started to optimize those things, that's when revenue started to increase. That's when client retention started to increase. That's when sales went through the roof because of my confidence and my energy and my focus and my drive. Because I'm optimized. I started wearing a whoop, right? And all of my top-level clients wear one so that I can optimize and look at their sleep, their HRV, their recovery scores. Because all of that fucking matters. The more efficient you are at doing that, especially as a business athlete, the more potent and lethal you will be in your career. I promise you. If you haven't done it already, that is my challenge to you. Optimize yourself like a fucking professional athlete and watch every single area of your life exceed your wildest dreams. Hope this helps today, guys. Until next time. Peace.
