Ozempic is everywhere. And so is the bad advice around it.

In this episode, I’m cutting through the noise — no preaching, no scare tactics, just an honest conversation about what this drug actually is, who it’s genuinely for, and who’s using it to avoid the work they haven’t been willing to do yet.

We cover the real side effects nobody’s talking about, why losing weight and becoming elite are two completely different outcomes, and what it actually costs you when you remove the hard part from the process.

If your goal is to just be smaller — this episode might challenge you.

If your goal is to be elite — this one’s for you.

Yo yo yo guys, what's going on? It's your boy GB, man. I appreciate you guys for rocking with me another week on Becoming the Vision, where we talk about becoming the person that you need to be in order to have the life that you so desire. As always, man, appreciate your time and attention. Uh, because without it, you boy wouldn't have a show. Um, but I always enjoy the feedback that you guys give me, the love, um, and yeah, and just the the follow-on questions that you guys have. It helps me to understand a little bit more uh what it is that you guys need and uh being able to point you in the right direction. And so um today is no different, man. I wanted to talk about um should I be taking Ozempic, right? Um now when I say Ozimpic, I mean any other GLP ones, uh it's just Ozimpic and Wagovi are the most uh the two most popular ones right now. And um I think recently, and when I say recently, over this past year so far, I've spoken to countless people that uh are either thinking about taking uh the the peptide or uh they're already on it. And I think that people need to be better educated about what it is that's uh being put in their body. And the biggest thing to understand is that most people are on it, or you know somebody that is on it. Um there are generally two different lines um that are dominating like the scenes is that one is it's a miracle drug, and oh my god, you could just take this and everything's gonna be okay, and then there's the other um camp that's like uh really busting their ass in the gym and eating right, and they're like, That's cheating, right? And uh essentially both are right and both are wrong, right? And um the biggest thing to understand, guys, is that overall this these drugs were designed specifically for diabetics who had elevated A1C levels, um, and they needed something to help bring it down, and then somewhere along the lines, it became a shortcut for most people a way to oh my god, I can't lose weight. It says that I have hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, I can't lose weight because of genetics in my family or whatever other story that may have been implanted there, right? And then so then it became, oh well, this is a shortcut, I could just take this and all will be well. And the problem is that you don't hear the other side of it. Um, because I'm in the health and fitness space, I understand um extremely understand the side effects that kind of happen um when you're doing this the wrong way. And the unfortunate thing is when you are selling a get you know uh uh fix the problem fast um solution, they're not going to tell you the other side. And so what I wanted to do, it is not necessarily bashing it overall, is what my mission is today. It's just to help you guys to better understand like what's actually going on, right? And the the coolest thing about my listeners is that you guys understand, right? It's not always about the lower number on the scale, it's about who you're becoming in the process of losing the weight. And in order for you to lose weight, you need to train hard and you need to eat right, but that requires a completely different personality and person that you want to be. It requires you to have a desire to be elite. And when I say elite, it means the best possible fucking version of yourself. And if you're not going after that, guys, you are going to struggle to stay consistent because it is really hard to stay motivated to seek average, okay? And then so to kind of give you some understanding um on who this drug is for and who it's not for, um, it is originally prescribed to type 2 diabetics. Type 2 diabetics are people that essentially gave themselves diabetes through poor um dietary habits. Now, this is poor dietary habits, but also poor physical habits, like you're not actually doing anything to physically take care of yourself, you're not walking, you're not training consistently, you're essentially just existing and putting shit in your mouth that you probably don't need to pause, right? But um, it was originally uh diagnosed for or given to type 2 diabetics, right? Um, it is clinically diagnosed for metabolic dysfunction. Like, so if you have insulin resistance, PCOS, um, or obesity with other comorbidities, right? And so this is just obesity with other problems that you may or may not have. And I'm not gonna list through all uh the comorbid morbid morbidities stuttering, right? Because there are a ton of them. Um just understand it's um the obesity plus other shit that is going wrong uh in your body, and then so it was usually blood work driven, meaning that most people will go in, get their blood tested, see that they're uh they have elevated A1C levels, and then they would be prescribed this drug to help bring down the A1C, but it was never designed to just, oh, I'm going to take this, and then life is going to be much better, right? And um the thing is, is that if anybody is taking this, if you were listening to this and you're just strictly taking any of these drugs, you have to understand that you are going down a very dangerous path, right? And that's not me just like throwing like, oh, this horror story. It is me really helping you understand the facts of what's being given. Because what a lot of people don't realize is that when a doctor, and this is not all doctors, right? But it is under you have to understand the process of these things, right? Most doctors are going to give you a prescription for something as it's not preventative medicine, it is more so after the fact some shit happens, and then they're going to give you this, and they're given incentives to provide these types of medicines. It's just being real, right? Um, now the kickbacks and everything that they may or may not get um are gonna be different, but you have to understand like the the method behind what they are doing. Um, and if you don't understand that, you'll just oh they're wearing a white coat, and then so I should always trust them. And doctors are very good at I'm not saying don't listen to your doctor at all. I'm not saying that because I don't want you running behind, oh Greg's it, right? I'm saying that you have to understand what their function is. And most times, most doctors, especially um as they're coming up in their education, are not given um extensive education on nutrition and training variables, like the things that are actually gonna prevent you from gaining weight and feeling this way, the way that you feel in the first place, right? And so you have to understand the process behind why they're telling you to do this. Um there are some harmful side effects that you guys have got to be aware of, right? And you know, guys, if you're still rocking, usually you know, I talk about mindset and different things like that, but it is very important for me to help you to understand like reframing how you're looking at these drugs, right? Because if not, like I know there are thousands of you that listen to this that are probably, like I said in the beginning, either thinking about getting on it, um, are on it, or know somebody that is on it, right? And so this is my my attempt to help educate so that you can make better decisions, okay? Um, and then so the harmful side effects, one is a main one is muscle loss. When you are taking um these drugs, yes, you're going to lose fat a hundred percent. But the problem is that you're also going to eat away a large part of your muscle mass. And so this is where um you'll see people that have like osimpic face, um, meaning like all the fat is drained out of their face, their neck, their body, like essentially they've lost weight, but they look like a walking zombie, their eyes are sunken in, um, they just look weak. It's like we would call it skinny fat, but it's um a more extreme version. And the danger with this is that when you start to eat away your muscle mass, this eats away your stability in your body, um, your ability to like keep yourself healthy. This is where osteoporosis can start to set in. Because if you don't have the muscle mass to like actually sustain and move your body around, you're gonna become weaker. You're basically running like a zombie, essentially. And for a high performer, those of you that listen to this frequently, it is a very bad road to go down because yes, you have lost the weight, the number has gone down on the scale, but you are going to operate at such a deficiency because you are just gonna feel weak and unable to do most normal tasks after a while. Okay. Um, nausea, vomiting, um, gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is like stomach paralysis in the most severe cases. So your stomach doesn't even know what the fuck to do. It can't process the food, you can't get the micronutrients you need, none of that, right? The other type the other things that are going on, you have pancreatitis risk. Um, the danger with these drugs, guys, is that if you're not taking it, um, if you're taking it strictly as weight loss and you're not doing anything else, you have to understand that yes, it's going to suppress your diet. I mean your your diet, it's gonna suppress your hunger. That's all gonna go away or at least go down. But it's blocking the hunger signals that your body is giving you to eat. And then so if you're not consuming as much food as you need, the side effect of that is now you're not even consuming the right macro or micro micronutrients that your body needs to function on a daily basis, right? And that's actually very dangerous in and of itself because now when you start to become vitamin deficient, you start to raise all other kinds of problems: high blood pressure, um, cholesterol levels, um, stress, fatigue, um, depression, anxiety, all that shit is wrapped up in your ability to like have sustained energy. Think about like when you are having a great day, you got a great night's sleep, you have the energy, like you were able to attack the world, and it doesn't really matter like what's going on around your life, like you'll just figure shit out because you're in a more positive frame of mind. Now, think about always feeling worn the fuck out, right? And because you don't have enough nutrients, and then on top of that, if like simple things like if you're vitamin D deficient, I just want you to Google all the bad things that'll happen if you're vitamin D deficient, and then just understand that because now your hunger is is blunted, like you're blunting your natural receptors to eat, now you're gonna run into all other problems, okay? Um, the biggest thing here to understand, guys, is that any even if you are taking this drug to lose the weight, the problem is that you're eventually going to have to start strength training and dialing in your diet anyway. Like you can't avoid it, you're gonna drop the weight, but if you do it with this drug, it's going to lead to you having all sorts of complications and problems. Now, of course, I understand that some of you are gonna listen to this, and some of you may even shoot me a message. No, Greg, I I was on it, and yes, of course, there's always one or two that nothing bad happened. There were I'm talking about the majority of people, right? And the majority of outcomes that I have seen people face, as let especially in the last couple of years, as this has become more prevalent. I've had hundreds of conversations with people about this drug, okay, or these drugs. The thing is that you're gonna end up having to do the thing that you were avoiding in the first place, which is getting stronger and eating right. You can't avoid it, it's always going to come back to lifestyle and behavior, okay. The point is that once you do, or not the point, but once you do take this drug, you cannot be on it for a long period of time. We don't even know the long-term effects of taking these type of drugs. But most people are taking them with the thought process that I'll just stay on it. I know people that have been on these drugs for years, and we have no understanding about long-term effects of this, like people that are on it for an extended period of time. And really what it comes down to, guys, is that like I always tell people, you have to love yourself, like you have to want to take care of yourself if you're looking for a quick fix. Like, if somebody is like, oh man, you know, like I, you know, God forbid, you know, but let's say, you know, somebody needed brain surgery and they're like, Man, I got you for free, right? I'll do it. $20. First of all, you're not gonna trust that person. Or if they told you that it was gonna be some sort of miracle thing, like you just take this and all of a sudden you're gonna be better, like you're gonna be a lot, you're gonna be very leery of it. And I want people to really understand, like, when you are putting these type things in your body, you have to understand the machine behind it, guys. Right. And so if I sound very passionate about people not taking them, yes, I am. Because although I think they do have some positive effects for some people that are already living the lifestyle of take like training, eating right, taking care of themselves, and really wanting to get on the right track, yes. This is more so along the lines for people that are just taking it as a like almost like a get-rich quick scheme. Like this is like lose weight fast, and because that's all it promotes. That's all it promotes, right? And people are going down the wrong road. And the thing that I don't want to happen is like years from now, it's like, you know, if you've ever seen those commercials, if like if you've taken this drug, you might be entitled to a cash settlement. I don't want that shit to happen to you guys. So I'm trying to make sure that we stay on top of it. Okay, the biggest thing to understand, guys, is that one, you cannot stay on this forever, and when you come off of it, most people that come off of it, all the weight comes back anyway, because you're never fixed who you are, how you operate, and how you think about yourself. Overall, my synopsis of this, right, is are they drugs that are beneficial in minor use cases for some people? Yes, I do think so, right? If you are just like so far gone, you're a type 2 bedic, type 2 diabetic, extremely overweight, this can help at least kickstart you in the right direction, but it is not going to take the place of you working out and eating right. And if you don't do that and you think, oh well, I'll just take it and it'll help me lose the weight, and I, you know, I don't I'm not gonna be hungry and it'll curb my appetite, you are going to get an outcome that you don't want. You are going to get an outcome that you don't want. How do I know? Because I've seen hundreds of people do it, and I've coached a lot of people that have been on the drug and then having to come off and then being like, oh shit, like I'm gaining all this weight back, or oh shit, I've gotten extremely weak, or oh shit, like my energy is tanked. I don't know what the fuck to do, right? And so this is a message for all of you that are thinking about taking these drugs. Can they be taken in small doses in conjunction with a training program and proper nutrition? Yes. Right, and again, guys, I would always recommend that this is like the most extreme cases, like if you're three, four hundred pounds, something like that. But if you're a 250 to 280 pound man and you're looking to lose weight, you don't need it. If you're a woman that's 200 something pounds that wants to drop down to like 130 one, you don't need it. All you have to do is make sure that you're training right in in eating, like literally, that's all you have to do, right? And not to fall for the marketing of uh what these drugs can potentially do. And so hopefully that was I, you know, I was able to clear up some things. Um, I did have some notes here, you know, just to make sure that I you stayed on task, I didn't want to rant. And I just wanted to kind of give you guys as much information to make an educated decision on what you want to do about your health and fitness. And so, as always, guys, um, you know, if this is if you've been struggling for a while, like if you've been hitting the gym, you know, most people I I coach are already in the gym and they're already trying to eat right, and you know, just shit's not working right. Like you can't stay consistent, or the things that you're doing cause you to continuously be hurt, or the workouts and training that you're doing just isn't yielding any type of result. Um, in the show notes, there is a link to apply to work with us here locally in Kaleen and Harker Heights and the surrounding areas. Um, yeah, guys, I I'd love to help if this is something that you'd like to do. If you want to make a lifestyle change and become the person that you want to become, I'm here to help you out. And so, other than that, guys, I hope everybody has an awesome ass day. Take care until next time. Peace.
