[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to the Pleasurepreneur podcast. This podcast will help you create what you desire in your business with pleasure. Whether that be calling in your ideal clients, making more money or creating a balanced business life blend. I'm your host. Regan Figg, pleasure and business coach, published author of A Mother's Pleasure, Wife and Mammoth to Three Little Wildlings.

However you're choosing to listen to this podcast, ask yourself, how can I make this more pleasurable? And do just that. I acknowledge the custodians of the land on which this podcast is recorded and produced, the Wadi Wadi people of Darrawa land. Now, let's proceed with pleasure.

Hello, and welcome to today's episode on the Pleasurepreneur podcast. My name is Regan. I am a pleasure coach and business mentor here to help you make money in a really [00:01:00] pleasurable way. And today we're going to be talking about the busy, but unfulfilled trap, you know, like when you are kicking goals, but it doesn't feel enjoyable.

Why success can actually feel empty and how to change that. Now, this is off the back of a bunch of conversations I've been having with some clients and with some people who I've been chatting with in my audience. I just finished the launch of the last round of the Pleasurepreneur Mastermind, and it was the best launch I have had in my business to date.

It was also the most pleasurable launch I have ever had. And I was talking with my mentor at the start of this launch sharing how like one of my goals for my launch, like one of the ways I'll know that this is a successful launch is by ensuring it is the most pleasurable launch I've ever had.

Number one, because like, I'm a forever scientist and I want to be researching and proving my theories, that pleasure [00:02:00] and prioritizing your pleasure and pursuing your pleasure actually creates better results for you in your business. But two, because, you know, I want to live in integrity and I want to walk my talk and I want to ensure that while I am encouraging my clients to prioritize their pleasure in order to create results, I also want to be a, a leader in that.

So yeah, walking my talk and making sure that this was the most pleasurable launch I've ever had. And it was, in fact. I took many breaks. I really enjoyed myself. I read books. I took naps. I had a time away from my family. And I also took myself on the most lush, delicious, mid launch, midweek solo retreat ever.

It was so good. If you don't follow me on Instagram, first of all, why not? You should. second of all, yeah, if you don't follow me on Instagram, you wouldn't have seen the quality content of me, like floating [00:03:00] around on this, in, in this giant pool on a big pink flamingo. Oh, it was so fun. I swam. I read books, I napped, I went to the spa, I ate delicious meals by myself, I did as I pleased, and it was all part of my launch, and that led to me creating a 20k launch for the last, um, launch of Mastermind, of the Mastermind.

Good luck, I'm, I'm gonna apologize in advance, uh, probably not be a very articulate podcast episode. I don't know about you, but I'm at that period in my cycle where I'm finding it hard to string some words together. And today I had the ambitious goal of recording A whole bunch of podcast episodes, four, in fact, I've never recorded four episodes back to back, but I'm like, I want to get ahead of myself.

So I don't think I'm going to be recording for today and that's okay. Part of living a pleasure filled life and business is knowing that sometimes we guess things [00:04:00] wrong and we can allow ourselves that kindness and compassion to move the goalposts. And you know what? I might just record some podcast episodes today, maybe one or two.

And the others I can do over the next few days, it's all good. So back to the whole topic of the episode, talking about. Being busy or like productive, but feeling unfulfilled. So feeling, well, not really feeling anything really like feeling numb when you're kicking your goals and how to change it, because what is the point of achieving what it is you desire if it doesn't feel good, what is the point of, you know, maybe.

Stretching your capacity or stepping outside your comfort zone or raising your prices or calling in the most ideal clients, or, you know, achieving what you want in your business and being too busy to celebrate it and it feeling like nothing, it [00:05:00] feeling empty. And that's something that can happen if we don't know how to open to pleasure.

So. Let's dive in. First of all, I am going to be talking with you about something that a lot of women in business feel, but they don't always admit what happens when you are killing it on paper. Yeah. So when you are kicking those goals, when you are hitting your financial milestones, but you do feel kind of like, you know, it does, you feel numb.

Yeah. You've hit your goals. You're making the money. Yeah. perhaps. Other people, maybe your peers or your clients are looking at you like, wow, she's really got it together. She's really kicking goals. She's living my dream. and yet you're kind of too busy to even enjoy it. Or as I said before, it just kind of feels like nothing.

It feels empty. You maybe feel numb. If that's you, first of all, you're not alone. and it's not. Really a little problem though, it is the problem because if you are building a [00:06:00] business that doesn't actually feel good to run, like, what's the point? What is the point? There is no point. So, in this episode, we're going to be diving into why success can feel so empty, why your brain might actually be blocking you from feeling satisfied, and most importantly, what you can do about it.

So let's dive in first with like, why success doesn't automatically feel good. Because here's the thing, most of us have been taught that the process of getting successful or the process of achieving our goals is Is supposed to feel hard. It's supposed to be stressful. It's supposed to be overwhelming, right?

Like the idea that we have to suffer and struggle in order to reach our desires, in order to hit those milestones, reach our goals. And then that once we arrive, then we'll feel happy, then we'll feel like, you know, we've made it, then we'll be able to enjoy it, then we'll slow down. But what actually [00:07:00] happens, and you might know this as well, like you might really have felt this, but if not, if you're first starting out in business, it's so great to start from this foundation where you can experience hitting all those goals.

So what actually happens is. You get there, and suddenly, the goalposts move. You think that you should be happier, that you should be celebrating, but instead you just feel pressure to keep going, to do more, to chase the next milestone, because slowing it down feels unsafe, or uncomfortable. Or, like, if you do slow down, you will lose momentum.

Yeah, so there's that like constant, like movement. So this is the conditioning. Your brain has been wired to equate productivity with worthiness. And that means when you're not constantly pushing, part of you freaks out, like you're doing something wrong.

So if you have been wondering, like, why can't I just enjoy this? It is not you. It is the way you've been [00:08:00] trained to think about success, and we can absolutely change that. So let's talk about the power of pleasure to break the cycle. Yum. I have so much I want to say. All right, so this is the part where pleasure comes in.

And I don't mean pleasure like, you know, buy yourself something nice. Although if that's what you feel like doing, do that too. I'm not just talking about like, have one bubble bath and that's the end of it. I mean like deep embodied pleasure. The kind that Shifts your nervous system because remember we can't be in a place of pleasure, like we can't be experiencing pleasure and have our sympathetic, which is our fight or flight nervous system and have our sympathetic nervous system activated at the same time, right?

Pleasure soothes our nervous system. Yeah. And here's what's wild. When you actually allow yourself to feel good in your business, when you celebrate the things that perhaps your brain wants to diminish or discredit, or thinks, you know, oh, that's not good [00:09:00] enough, or it's not enough, or yeah, but I signed these new clients, but you know, it wasn't through an organic way, or yeah, I signed these new clients, but it wasn't through a paid ad way, it was organic.

You know, we all have these funny rules, but if we are not allowing ourselves to celebrate the big things and the little things, if we're not allowing ourselves to feel good in our business, when we are in the process of creating what it is that we want, when we let success feel nourishing. Instead of exhausting, everything will change.

Your results, your energy, your ability to hold more without burning out. But of course, now you probably are already aware of this, pleasure isn't just going to happen. Like, you have to actually choose it, actively. You have to practice it. You have to open to it. You have to remind yourself of it, and that is the work, and the reason why we have to remind ourselves of it, the [00:10:00] reason why it is a practice, is because of our entire lifetime of socialized conditioning where we You know, pleasure has been touted as frivolous as, you know, the reward you get after you achieve something, you know, the rest you have after you've been productive and it can be as simple as thinking like, you know, I don't get to have the cup of tea until I've cleaned the kitchen.

I'm not going to celebrate, my business until I have. Achieved this, you know, achieve this milestone or this financial goal. Yeah, it's the when then fallacy. And when we're in that place of when then, like when I achieve X, Y, and Z, then I will feel fulfilled, satisfied, confident, happier.

Like it doesn't come then. We need to practice it. In the process.

So, as I said, I have five spots by application only find the link in the show notes, click on the link. It's a quick application and good luck. That's it for now. Let's dive back in.

So here is how to rewire your pleasurepreneur success blueprint. Yeah. So if you're nodding along, like, yeah, this is me, you know, here is what I want to start doing, whether that is, I want to start enjoying the goals that I'm hitting because I'm realizing it feels kind of empty these days, or you're like, Ooh, I've just started out in my business and I want to ensure that I.

Relish every achievement I make. Yeah. So here's what we're going to do. Number one. If you [00:13:00] are already noticing yourself in that cycle, I want you to catch yourself there. Notice when you have achieved the goals, the desires, the milestones, the big ones and the little ones. Yeah. Notice when you are then moving those goal posts, when you're feeling like you should be happier, but you're not, and you should be achieving more.

Awareness is step number one, yeah, so notice when you're achieving those goals, celebrate them, enjoy that celebration, and don't try and tell yourself that you should be happier. Number two, we will interrupt the pattern with pleasure. So I'm talking micro moments of enjoyment, like inside your business.

I'm not talking about like. You need to go and have, like what I did, you need to go and have a midweek, mid launch retreat. I highly encourage that. It will benefit you and it will improve your results. But if you're noticing this, like this is going to be something that we're working [00:14:00] on ongoing, these small like practices and catching these small parts of the cycle.

I want you to consider what would make today actually feel good. I want you to consider, like, can I build in some spaciousness, can I bring in some softness, can I feel more like myself, can I make it more, like, can I, for me, one thing I do to make my business more pleasurable is I take my business on a business date, like a pleasure date, you know, like I'm dating my business, so I'll get dressed up, I'll put my lippy on, I'll put my heels on, and I'll go to, often I go to this local hotel, That has this big, beautiful lobby bar and this big atrium, and it's just gorgeous.

Or there's this other restaurant that overlooks the ocean that's also kind of bougie, like, I'll take my business there to do some work. Obviously, I'm not taking it there to record a podcast, but there's some creative work I can do, there's admin work I can do. I'm also not having [00:15:00] my client calls there, it's probably a bit noisy.

but yeah, like find ways that you can start to weave pleasure into your life, especially into your business. Yeah. And when you are bringing that pleasure in, I want you to, like, turn the dial up. Yeah, like, I want you to turn, it's like the volume dial. I want you to be like, ah, like, ah, I'm feeling this sense of spaciousness or.

Wow, I'm really noticing the beauty of sitting here working with the view of the ocean or like, I'm just going to really sink into this feeling of like sexiness with my lippy and my heels and my earrings, you know, like, I want you to turn up the dial on the pleasure and notice what it feels like in your body.

Now, this doesn't have to be a really long practice. It could simply be, Ooh, this feels nice. And just like clocking that thought for a moment and just maybe seeing how it feels in your body. Maybe it feels like butterflies. Maybe it's just a smile on your face. maybe it feels like an [00:16:00] exhale in your body.

Like I'm grounded. I've arrived. Yeah. So I want you to find those micro moments of enjoyment inside your business, weave them in. Where you can weave them in and turn that dial up to notice what it feels like in your body. And then the last thing I want you to do here is like redefine success. On your terms, so this is definitely one of the things that we work with to get that I work together with my clients on, and it has been a common thread with all of my clients, I think, because we have been told that success is the vanity metrics.

You know, it is the metrics that we can see on paper, the income, um, the, the number of clients enrolled and working with you, the social media stats, you know, the engagement and all the rest of it, but oftentimes our success and our business growth actually can happen on the inside. [00:17:00] Chances are we're not constantly growing.

Where we're getting that external evidence and that external validation constantly. So if we're only relying on that, that's going to feel, really deflating at times. And then we are going to link our success to outside powers, you know, that we can't control. And if we can't, if we feel like we can't control our success, that is not going to be pleasurable.

That's not going to be enjoyable. And it will be so easy to then like spiral into like questioning ourselves, like second, second guessing ourselves, doubting ourselves. Not a fun place to be. Those feelings can come up sometimes and you can still be achieving while you have those feelings. But we don't want to actually be, like, inviting them in all the time because we are pinning our success on those externally validating metrics.

Yeah, so just like I spoke about, at the start of this episode, one of my metrics for [00:18:00] success for my last launch of the Pleasurepreneur Mastermind was knowing that it was the most pleasurable launch I've ever had. I could have signed no people into the mastermind and it still would have had an element of success because there are a number of things that I achieved during that launch that I decided ahead of time.

That I had defined success for me. So let's redefine success on your terms. Yes. Obviously you will have those, success metrics such as sales, like this is why we're in business to make money, otherwise it's just a hobby. Right? But like, let's look for some internal success metrics as well. How do you wanna feel?

How do you wanna show up? How, do you wanna move through a certain period in your business? Yeah. Like forget what you should want, what actually matters most to you, like if you let yourself have what you truly desire now, without waiting until you deserve it, how [00:19:00] would that change things?

When I had a conversation with one of the pleasurepreneurs in the last round of the mastermind, like. What do you actually want in your business? Like what doesn't feel so pleasurable right now that you are seeing as a success metric or that you are seeing as a should, like something you should do. And she'd shared that she was.

Enrolling clients to work with her and taking on work with people who actually weren't her ideal clients with people who really that work didn't light her up anymore. And it wasn't their fault, like it was, they would be the perfect ideal client for somebody else, but because she was thinking she had to take on any client that, you know, inquired to work with her.

She was then taking on clients that she knew weren't right for her or taking on work that she knew wasn't right for her. And that left her feeling like drained and depleted and somewhat resentful of her business. So yeah, I said like, what do you want? [00:20:00] And she knew exactly the kind of client she wanted to work with.

And so she simply, and it is simple. it can sometimes be not so easy, but it was definitely simple and a practice that she has now gotten so good at. I'm watching her content and I'm like, Oh my God, this is so good. But she now is very specific. With her messaging, with her marketing about who is the right client to come and work with her.

not only is she getting really clear on who she can help the most and who her most ideal client is, but she is now filling her books with these kind of clients, with the kind of work that she really wants and that she really enjoys. And so you can see how number one that is going to benefit her from making it a much more enjoyable business, but also number two, because she is enjoying her business more, because she's enjoying her work more, she wants to sell more.

She's out there talking more about [00:21:00] her work and calling in clients so much easier because she wants to work more, because she enjoys it. So, consider, what is it that you want now that you don't have to wait for? You don't have to wait, you don't have to earn a million dollars, or be completely burnt out until, for example, you work with clients that you absolutely adore, doing work that you absolutely love.

Because at the end of the day. The goal isn't just to hit the milestones. The goal is to enjoy the life you've created and chances are a big part of your life is your business. And if you're too busy or you're too stressed or you're too. Disconnected to actually feel the success that you are creating.

What is the point? Yeah. I always share at the start of like my Instagram lives, like that I help you make more money with pleasure because why would you want to do it any other way? And I still think like, why? I think we tolerate. Growing our businesses in a way that we think we should because we don't think it's [00:22:00] available to us to enjoy the process and make money.

We think that it needs to be hard and it doesn't. So. If this is hitting home for you, if you're realizing that your success has started to feel like a job instead of a pleasure, this is the work I do. I help women unlearn the patterns that keep them stuck in the cycle of overwork so that they can feel the richness of the business they've built.

Right now I've got five spots open for pleasure in business audits. Now, these are audits that I conduct at the start of working with my clients one on one and I'm giving five of them away for free. It's where I'll take a deep dive into your business and show you exactly how to bring in more pleasure, ease and profit without working more. So I'm going to get you to click the link in the show notes to apply. I would absolutely love to help you create a business that feels as good as it looks on paper.

Until next time, go [00:23:00] do something that actually feels good today. My kids have just arrived home. Perfect timing again. Go enjoy yourself. And thanks for tuning in. Bye for now.
