I am Athanasia Houvarda, and I am a fatal car crash burn survivor from Greece. In Greek my name means immortality and of course I don't think I am immortal, I am not even sure if I wish to be, but in 2001 I beat the odds and watched my life change in one split second.I was severely injured with 3rd and 4th degree burns on 74% of my body. But on that day, I lost a lot more than my healthy skin, I lost my friends, I lost my identity, I lost my marriage and my business and my whole world was shattered into pieces. And it only took one split second.The crash Victim Life Survivor podcast will make you re think everything you take for granted in life. It will aslo inspire and motivate you to be more aware of your safety and the safety of others on the road. We all have someone that has the "it won't happen to me" attitude. For us it was flight to fight.

On this episode I will be discussing with a very special guest about the impact a car accident can have on those people that are waiting outside the closed doors of the Intensive Care Units. Those that have to deal with the hard decisions that they need to take.

Mary Houvardas is a wife, a mother, a hero and a role model. My role model.
She is one of the two people that are responsible for me being alive today.

It is an emotional discussion where she will take us through her experience of seing her child fighting to saty alive. The hard decisions she had to make and what gave her strenght to not give up.
My friend Stavroula that is also mentioned in this episode was the first to arrive at the hospital and see me within the first two hours of the accident.
