15 Minutes With Jesus / Robert Haymes
Are You Converted?
Greetings in the name of Jesus! This is Rob Haymes. This is 15 Minutes With Jesus. Wherever two or three are gathered together in My name, Jesus said, there am I in the midst of them. To those of you who love Him in truth, mercy unto you and peace, and love be multiplied.
Are You Converted? Let’s turn to Mat 13:1, The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. And he spoke many things unto them in parables….verse 10, And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why do you speak unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; unless at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Now let’s turn to Mat 11:28, Jesus said, Come unto Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Our healing and our rest is in Jesus: in coming to Him, taking His yoke upon us, walking with Him and learning of Him. Jesus said, If any man will come after Me, let Him deny himself and take up his cross every day and follow Me. Are you doing that every day? Do you deny yourself, your own desires, your own understanding, every day and come before the Lord in prayer saying, Not my will, but yours be done Lord?
Let’s turn to Mat 16:13, When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am? So they said, Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth will be loosed in Heaven. Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ. From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You! But He turned and said to Peter, Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men. Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
Are you walking in love with Jesus, keeping His Words, as the Holy Spirit is leading you? Or is your heart in this world; do you love this present world? Is your heart full of cares and worries about the things in your life, or the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of this life? The Apostle Paul said, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Do you see that? It’s through Him! It’s not because you are saved; it’s through Him. You are His and He is yours when you are converted. Religion is not good enough for you: you want him. You want to know Him and love Him and be loved by Him; walk with Him and serve Him and His Father with all your heart. It’s not everyone who says Lord, Lord, but they that do the will of His Father that will enter into Jesus’ Kingdom, because they love Him and they are converted and healed and established in Him, denying themselves, taking up their cross-the fellowship of His sufferings- and following Him- Jesus- every day. He has work for you to do in His Kingdom, but first you must be converted.
Peter was following Jesus; He was serving Him with all his heart. He even received revelation from the Father that Jesus was the Christ; the Son of the living God. When Jesus at that time, however, said that He must suffer and die and rise again from the dead, Peter rebuked Him and said, That be far from you Lord! This shall not happen to you! And Jesus had to rebuke Peter, saying, Get behind Me Satan! You are an offense unto Me, for you savor not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Peter needed to yet be changed. How about you? Are you savoring the things of men, or the things that be of God? Let’s turn to Mat 26:17, Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover? And He said, Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples. So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover. When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. Verse 26, And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body. Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered. But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee. Peter answered and said to Him, Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble. Jesus said to him, Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times. Peter said to Him, Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You! And so said all the disciples. Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane.
That night, when Jesus told Peter that he was about to deny Him three times, Peter refused to believe Him. He was totally convinced that he was ready to go to prison and die for Jesus’ sake. But when the hour came; when the temptation came upon him, there was something wrong in his heart, and he fell into it and openly denied Jesus, just as He said he would. Let’s turn to Luke 22:54, Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed at a distance. Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, This man was also with Him. But he denied Him, saying, Woman, I do not know Him. And after a little while another saw him and said, You also are of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not! Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean. But Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are saying! Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Word of the Lord, how He had said to him, Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times. So Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Peter needed to be changed. And when he heard the cock crow, as Jesus had predicted; when Jesus turned and looked at him, he knew that what Jesus had said was true, and that he truly had denied his Lord, and he went out and wept bitterly. Peter had godly sorrow and it worked repentance in him because Jesus had interceded for him that in that trial his faith would not fail, and he was converted; he turned back and returned to Jesus with all his heart.
In John 21, after Jesus had risen from the dead, He appeared to the disciples as they were fishing and blessed them with a good catch. Then He fed them breakfast. Verse 12, Jesus said to them, Come and eat breakfast. Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, Who are You?—knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead. So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs. He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My sheep. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish. This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, Follow Me.
After they had breakfast, and Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him, Peter was able to answer truly, Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you, and Jesus commissioned him to feed His sheep. No more fishing.
How about you? What has happened in your life since you were saved? Have you been faithful to Him? Is there something in your life, in your heart, that isn’t right? Let's turn to Mat 18: 1, At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. Have you been converted? Will you humble yourself before God and be willing to become as a little child, totally dependent on Him for everything? Or do you want to be the greatest?
