The Plant Medicine For PTSD Podcast

8. Matthew "Whiz" Buckley - From Top Gun Fighter Pilot To Psychedelic Advocate

In this episode, I'm honored to sit down with Matthew “Whiz” Buckley — former Navy fighter pilot, Wall Street trader, and founder of the No Fallen Heroes Foundation. From launching off aircraft carriers to launching into the spirit world with ibogaine, Whiz’s path has been anything but conventional.

Whiz’s first plant medicine journey began with The Mission Within — an ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT clinic for veterans. That night, he saw his sister again. Saw his dad. Saw the fallen teammates he couldn’t bring home. And realized they never really left him.

Since then, he’s been all in on "putting the ladder down" — helping other veterans find healing, connection, and a path forward.

We dive into:

  • 🕊️ Childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and the long arc of unprocessed grief
  • ⚓ How the lessons of Top Gun school served him (or didn't) in the medicine space
  • ✝️ Losing faith but finding God again through plant medicine
  • 🧬 Healing generational trauma through the medicine
  • 💊 His view on pharma vs sacred medicine — and how these two worlds can blend in a positive way
  • 🪖 The mission behind No Fallen Heroes — and how they’re helping veterans heal
  • 🕰 His dope-ass Breitling unit watch
  • 🧠 The self-honesty required to integrate, grow, and not go back to sleep when the medicine has woken you up
