The Plant Medicine For PTSD Podcast

10. Billy Evans, Part One

Retired Marine Corpsman Billy Evans grew up witnessing drug and alcohol addiction in his parents - and later found himself facing the same darkness when his own life began to unravel. Billy was forced into medical retirement when he began to experience seizures secondary to his TBI sustained from multiple blast injuries overseas, only to come home to a tumultuous marriage which compounded his pain and catapulted him into drug use as an escape.

Billy has since gotten clean, and his healing journey was accelerated by a psilocybin experience through a scholarship from the No Fallen Heroes Foundation (see our episode with Whiz Buckley for more on their work).

Referred to us by mutual friend Jake Grey (featured on episode #7 of this podcast), Billy joined our Mindful Microdosing Program to help him integrate the lessons from his No Fallen Heroes retreat and make sure that the medicine led to long-lasting changes in his life.

At the time of this publication, Billy is squarely in the middle of our 6-month program. He's here now to share the story that led him to seek help through plant medicine. We will do a follow-up episode after he graduates from the program to detail his experiences and explore how our program contributed to his integration process after the retreat.
