Most of you are stuck in a founder mindset. You started your business because you love weddings, planning, flowers, music, photography, whatever your craft is. You're passionate, you're creative, and you want freedom. And that's great until it isn't. Here's the harsh truth. The mindset that got you here won't get you there. if you don't step into the role of CEO, your business will hit a wall and you become your business's biggest bottleneck. Today, we're breaking down the difference between a founder and a CEO. And I promise you this, by the end of this video, you're going to know exactly which hat you're wearing and what needs to change for your business to fully thrive. Let's start with the founder's mindset Founders are the creators, the builders, the ones with the vision, the ideas and the passion. Founders are the reason that businesses are born. but here's where most of us get stuck. founders think too small. Founders focus on what you can do, not what your business can do without you. You wear all the hats. Marketing, sales, client management, admin work, HR, payroll. and you think you're the only one who can do it well enough. Sound familiar? Here's the problem. That solo superhero mentality keeps you small and keeps you in that constant state of overwhelmed and exhaustion. Think about this for a second. If your business depends on you to show up to be successful, that's not a business. That's a job and one you can't clock out of, by the way. Now let's talk about what it means to be a CEO. CEOs don't think small. They think big. CEOs don't think, what can I do today? They think, how can I build a system that does this for me? Here's what CEOs do differently. Number one, they delegate. You don't see CEOs at midnight editing photos or writing a timeline. No, they've delegated those tasks to other people on their team who can do it just as well or even better than they can. Number two, CEOs focus on strategy and not tactics. While founders are busy putting out fires that are happening today, CEOs are thinking 6, 12, maybe even 18 months in the future. They're constantly asking, how can I make this business run without me? And number three, CEOs know their numbers. Revenue, profit margins, and expenses are all numbers that CEOs know better than they know their kids birthdays. This is because data drives decisions and not feelings. You have to know these numbers like the back of your hand. Okay, so now you get it. You're like, yeah, Brandee, that's me. I'm stuck in founder mode, but what am I going to do about it? I'm glad you asked. Here's our step by step process. Number one, I want you to audit your time. This is huge. I want you to figure out what you do all day long and really take a look at what things actually move the needle in your business. If you're constantly doing busy work every single day, we need to look at how we can get those things off of your plate by either trashing them completely if they're not important, or delegating them to a team member, or outsourcing them to a contractor we can bring on to support you. The next thing I want you to do What are the things that you do inside of your business every single day? Answering leads, creating contracts, onboarding clients. All of those things are things that can be done by either a system or by bringing someone onto your team that can do those things for you. There is absolutely zero reason that you as the business owner, as the CEO should continue to do repeatable tasks every single day in your business. Number three is going to be to invest in the right people or tools to grow your business. When you're scared to invest in a new software that's going to save you time and make you more efficient, or you're scared to hire, that is that founder's mentality sneaking in. you have to invest into your business for it to grow, and that getting back that time into your day from having that system or that person on your team is going to exponentially grow your revenue inside of your business. And number four is to absolutely measure time. Everything. I cannot tell you how many times I get DMs from business owners who ask me if I can help them figure out what's happening inside their business, why they're not getting enough sales, why they're not getting enough leads, whatever that they're concern is. And I ask, okay, well, what's the data? Send me the spreadsheet, show me what you've been tracking. And they're like, oh, I don't track that. And I'm like, how possibly can we fix the problem if you're not measuring it? What gets measured gets managed. You've got to measure everything inside your business and understand those numbers so that you know exactly where the holes are and how to grow. Okay. So why does this matter? Anyway, so this podcast was birthed from a thread that I actually saw where it said, do you more resonate with the title CEO, or Founder? And when I saw it, I was like, this is about so much more than just, which title do you prefer to use in your business? There's so much more to the way that your mindset functions about how you run your business. So, what I want you to really think about is understanding that founders plateau. Founders burn out. Founders get stuck at that six figure mark because they can't possibly let go of that mindset that they can do it better than the other people on their team. Or that they're afraid to invest in their business because they don't have that money sitting right there in the cushy bank account. CEOs, that's not a mindset. Think differently. CEOs build 500, 000 seven figure businesses because they know that they have to step out of the way of their business so that they can grow, they can invest, they can scale their business well beyond themselves. They now take back their time and they're able to create multiple revenue streams. And this is the difference between businesses that are thriving in our industry and businesses that are getting stuck. If you're not willing to step into the CEO role, your business will never grow beyond your own capacity to show up. and I know what you're thinking, Brandee, but I love the client work. I love being there on wedding day. That's totally fine. I love that for you. When we are teaching founders to become CEOs inside of Wedding Pro CEO, that's actually one of the biggest things that people will say to us is, but I don't want to stop doing weddings. And I'm like, no one is asking you to stop doing weddings. Great CEOs don't abandon their craft. They learn how to. Manage their time so that they can really focus on the part of their craft that makes them money and Gives them that freedom that they dreamed of when they first started their business That means that you can do really great client work and still be very much involved with some of the clients in your business But you can also create systems and team members who can scale that business with you and serve even more clients as part of your brand You Because, let's be honest, you didn't start a business so you could sit behind a desk and answer emails all day. So here's my challenge to you today. I want you to decide. I want you to think long and hard. Am I stuck in this founder's mindset? And am I ready to step into my role as the CEO of my business? Am I ready to take on that CEO mindset and to scale my business bigger than myself in 2025? Because the shift in your business, the shift in the scalability of what you can do all starts with you. Are you going to stay a founder? Are you ready to become the CEO your business needs? If you're ready to go deeper on this, then I want to chat with you about joining Wedding Pro CEO.
