If you've ever said, I know I need help, but what if I can't afford it? This episode is for you because the truth is when you actually run the numbers. That scary salary you're afraid of might be the very thing that creates more freedom and more profit in your business. Today I'm gonna walk you through the exact math I use with my students to decide if they can afford to hire and how much profit that new team member actually brings back into the business. So let's get into it. Recently, one of our wedding pro CEO students came to a coaching call and she said, I know I need help, but what if I can't pay her? Sound familiar? She was doing everything herself, sales, emails, logistics, timelines, all while trying to grow, But she was terrified that hiring a full-time staff member would sink her cash flow. So instead of guessing, we ran the numbers because everything we do inside of Wedding Pro CEO is about the data. She wanted to pay her new hire 75K per year. So here's the formula that we used. first we take that salary, that 75K, and we divide it by 40% because that's gonna tell us how much revenue this new hire needs to be able to execute in a year, to be able to keep that 40% profit margin, we wanna only pay them 40% of how much revenue that they're generating. That's a really healthy percentage. That's the one that we use inside of Wedding Pro, CEO. And that is a really easy way to say, okay, I wanna pay them this much. How much do they need to be able to execute in a year to be able to make sure that I stay within my healthy profit margins? So this means in this case, our new hire needs to execute $187,500 in revenue to pay for themselves and to maintain our healthy profit margins. now this pro's average event is $4,200. And this is really, really important for you to know for your own business, is how much your average client pays you per event so that you can use this number when you're hiring to figure out exactly how many events your new, hires need to be able to handle. So in this case, our average event ticket is fourty-two hundred dollars . So what we're gonna do is we're gonna take that 187,500 and we're gonna divide it by 4,200, which is her average amount, and that tells us that this new hire is gonna need to execute 45 events per year. So that's just 45 weddings per year to be able to hit the goal that we need her to execute. Some of you listening to this may think, oh, 45 weddings, that's not a lot. And some of you listening to this might be like, how on earth could someone take 45 weddings. So what we wanna do again, is get rid of the emotion and take it back to the facts. So how many hours does it take us to execute our average event? Right? That's gonna help us to understand whether this is a realistic goal for one hire or if it's way too much. So in this case, the average wedding for this pro takes around 30 hours of work. And if you're sitting here thinking, I don't even know for my business, again, these are all things that we work on inside of Wedding Pro, CEO, almost as soon as you join the program, because as we're working through and scaling your business, these are all data points we're gonna take you back to and say, okay, let's run through your numbers. We're gonna pull these data points out and help you to. Figure out things exactly like this situation, which is, can I afford to hire this person at 75K per year? We're not going on a gut feeling, we're not going on a emotion. We're literally going on facts. So if you don't know these numbers for your own business, I'm gonna encourage you to go find them or to come book a call with our team and book a free gap assessment so that we can walk you through how to do that and also tell you more about how we can help you do that inside of Wedding Pro CEO. So in this case, each of her weddings takes around 30 hours of work. So we're gonna multiply the 45 events that we want this new hire to handle times 30 hours of work, that gives us 1,350 hours. That's less than 65% of the total hours that a full-time hire has to work in a year. We know this because if you take 52 weeks per year and multiply that by 40 hours a week, you get 2080 hours in a working year. And if you're listening to this on the podcast and you're like. Holy potato sticks. Brandee, like my brain is melting out my ears because of all the numbers you're throwing at me. I'm gonna encourage you to jump over to our YouTube channel and watch it there so that you can actually see us working through these numbers on the screen because it sounds like a lot of numbers, but the reality is this is such an easy formula and it takes the guesswork out of being able to hire and it really gives you confidence in hiring those team members. So I want you to actually work through this and not just be like, whoa, that felt like a lot. I'm tuning out of this episode. Okay, so that's less than 65% of a full-time hires, available hours. So even at full pay, this new hire still has margin for growth. here's the kicker. So now that we have all of these numbers, we know that that $75,000 salary is gonna produce 187,000 plus in revenue, which means that this $75,000 salary is producing nearly a hundred thousand dollars in profit for our business. So not only is she hiring help and buying back her own time and her own freedom, she's actually adding profit to the bottom line of the business. So here's the shift I want you to make when you're listening to this episode. I want you to stop asking, can I afford this? And I want you to start asking, what will this investment create for my business? Because every great CEO knows fear is a lie, but math never does. Numbers have no emotion. That's why I love them so much. We're in such an emotional industry that using math and data takes all of the emotion out of it. It takes all the fear out of it, and it's strictly non-emotional. Truth numbers are truth. Fear is lies. Numbers are truth. So if you're ready to run your own numbers, here's what I want you to do next. Step one is to choose a fair salary for this role. Step two is to divide that salary by 40%. That gives you the total revenue that that team member needs to execute in order for you to stay in a healthy profit margin. Step three is to divide that number by your average package price. Now you know exactly how many events that they need to handle to pay for themselves, and then some. And when you run this math, you'll realize you're not spending money on a new hire. You're investing in profit. Time and capacity of your business. If you know you need help, but fear is holding you back, I totally get it. CEO, I've been there myself, but I don't want you to keep guessing.
