Structure, Support, and Small Compromises - Misty Dehart
Show Notes

The Local Lens is a public health podcast going inside one community's experience with the drug epidemic. Everyone in the town of Stanton, KY sees this drug issue differently from each other, either because of their personal lives or professional roles. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives by having honest, in-depth interviews.

Misty Dehart has been through the ringer. After an 11 year battle with addiction, which included several attempts at recovery, plenty of heartache, and even being banned from Powell County, she has landed on her feet and is running onward. Today, she has completed her associate's degree and is enrolled in Eastern Kentucky University's nursing program while working for Mercy Health as a Peer Support Specialist in Irvine, KY.

Misty joins us on the show for the first time to shed some light on what she found to be important in her recovery process. For her, it seems to have come back to structure, support, and small compromises.

Listen in to hear inside the experience of someone who has lived it. These are our people, using our voices, telling our stories, because no one sees it like we do.

Mentioned episodes:
Ronna Donithan and Joshua Jones - A Family Story
Dr. Kassis with Dr. Kennon - The Medicine and Science of Addiction
