This is the Resilient Joy podcast, where Danet Peterson and Kensi Evans explore building resilient joy, inside and out.

Kensi and Danet believe joy is the sum of our life's collective experiences. It is the overarching theme as we experience the entire gamut of human emotions. Our ability to feel, experience, and maintain joy as we go through life's challenges, attests to the resilience of the human spirit. The presence of joy does not mean there is an absence of pain, challenging/uncomfortable emotions, or conflict, but rather, demonstrates the reality that joy is the ability of individuals to make meaning and maintain hope in all circumstances, highs and lows.

Hi all! I'm Danet! (duh-nay). I'm a wife & mom, currently living in Mesa, AZ with my husband & 3 kids, Josh, Tatum, & Melody. After getting a super rare cancer diagnosis in 2020, I'm now "living with" metastatic ocular melanoma, managing with holistic cancer care.

I serve as a marketing expert & podcast host for The Eye Believe Podcast, & event emcee for A Cure in Sight, a nonprofit serving the ocular melanoma community. I began work in advocacy in 2021 & it's been a gift for me to share my story authentically, & connect with OM patients like me.

I LOVE music, mostly Taylor Swift, Harry Potter, reading, audio books, a good TV show, stress shopping, writing, taking photos, hanging with my sisters, & obviously, chocolate. Oh & friendship bracelets.

Hi everyone! I’m Kensi Evans. I am 33 years old. I have been married to my husband, Brett, 13 years & we have 4 boys: Brig, Abel, Kimball, Leo. We are currently living in Costa Rica-- what a beautiful adventure! In Dec 2023, I graduated with my bachelors degree in marriage & family studies. Currently, I am a part of a nonprofit I helped start in 2023, Brighter Community Resources. I'm working on growing it still!

I love reading, podcasts, going to the beach, swimming in the ocean, yoga, hiking, & sleeping. I love to sing & make up silly songs. Life really would be more fun as a musical. I feel passionate about learning from & about people & love to foster connections. I love to learn about people’s goodness and strengths. I love chatting with someone who is as excited/intrigued about what we are talking about as me! So doing this podcast with Danet is a dream come true!
