Walter Busuttil

Prof. Walter Busuttil MBChB MPhil MRCGP FRCPsych RAF (Retd), is a military consultant psychiatrist who served for 16 years in the RAF, reaching the rank of Wing Commander. He was part of the team that set up rehabilitation services for Gulf War I combatants and the British Beirut hostages. 

 

After leaving the RAF, he spent 10yrs setting up services for adult survivors of sexual abuse suffering from Complex PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder and was Medical Director of an all-women’s Medium Secure Hospital.

 

He joined charity Combat Stress in 2007, and set up cutting-edge community and residential clinical services and research dept.

 

He's also helped the NHS set up national services for veteran mental health. In 2022, he was appointed visiting Prof. to the Inst. of Psychiatry and Psychology and Neuroscience at Kings College London.
