Yo yo yo, welcome back to the Filial Lifestyle Podcast Conversations on Lifestyle, Passions, and Hustles. My name's Chris. I am your host, and I'm super excited to be back here having the conversation with you. Episode 242 today, and it's a beautiful episode. It's gonna be a really important episode for you for two reasons. It's going to help you end this year on your terms. That's that's the topic, that's the theme of the episode. But also, I I just want to spend some time and say big thank you for all the support and encouragement. We will be taking a break just just while I go away to the Philippines and uh spend some time away. And yeah, it will be Actually, I'm already in the Philippines at this point in time of this episode coming out. Obviously, I filmed it earlier, but yeah, I will already be on break. So this episode is for you to really just take it, run with it, and use it as the last chance to kind of wrap up what we've been discussing about over the last it's probably been six, ten weeks, and really just bring it all together. Bring it all together and make sure that you're happy. But I also understand that sometimes it's great to be happy, but sometimes not satisfied. And take that new level of found I want something more into the new year. And how do we do that? Right? We end this year on our terms and then we prep ourselves for the new year. So that's what we're talking about today. If you do enjoy these episodes, please jump down below, hit like, hit subscribe. Most of all though, most of all, if you think this is you know of value, share it with someone else. Let someone else know about it. Let them end this year, let them end their year on on their on their best terms yet, right? And set themselves up for their best year yet going into 2026. And now, if you are jumping in here and it's like I'm talking 2025, 2026, and it's a whole different year, it does not matter. This applies to any season, any period in your life, and that's the way we'll do it. So we're gonna get cozy, we're gonna get comfy. It won't be a long episode, really just here to share with you, give you some prompts, give you some ideas to think about, and we'll wrap it up pretty quick. But we're gonna roll the intro, let's get into it. So there's three prompts I want to go through today. And there's a couple of things that I want to talk about, right? There's there's stuff that it's not about what didn't happen this year. We want to reflect on what did happen. What what did we achieve this year, but also what comes next? Now, for me, the first thing I'd be asking yourself if you're reflecting on 2025 or a period of your life, what story do you want to tell? Right now, for me, this year has been an incredible year, an absolutely incredible year. I've done things which I wanted to do and then more. And that was only because I was prepared to success to set myself up to be successful. I was ready to do it. I wanted it, I was motivated, I was willing to learn, I was willing to problem solve, I was willing to get myself out there and get uncomfortable. At the start of the year, we got a warehouse for the for the uh for the business, right? Which is just crazy to think about. We moved in there 266 square meters. I then hired my first full-timer, I expanded the team again with one more individual. We went through lots of highs and lows with the business. It's been a challenge. I got engaged, I got married, and I'm actually about to get married for the second time because we had the first ceremony just recently, and the second one is actually coming up not too long from now. And that's been a beautiful experience, right? And the business is in a new position that I've never well, I mean, I've always dreamt it being there, but you know, you don't really envision it until you're there, like you see it and you soak it in. So it's been a very rewarding year, and we've bought a house as well, and we've we've moved in there, and we'll be able to start to build that out even further when we get back from the Philippines next year. But for me, that that's my that's my legacy of the year, is like did great things, achieved amazing things, really rewarding year, and some of my lifelong goals have been achieved. Obviously, getting married and things like that and getting my own house, and very exciting. Very, very exciting. Now, but this isn't about me. I want you to take a moment and reflect and think, well, what's the story do you want to tell about 2025? And I understand there's probably some things, some people here that have not had a good experience this year. Maybe you didn't hit the goals you wanted, maybe you didn't achieve the results you expected, maybe things did not go to plan, and there was a lot of unsudden things that occurred. Unfortunately, there's always going to be highs and lows in every season, and sometimes seasons last longer than a year. And you need to ask yourself about well, it's not about what didn't happen, it's about what do I do about it next. And it gives you a chance, an opportunity to actually think about well, what's what's something that I can still do today? Like it's the 14th of December today. You still got a little bit of time. Is there something that I can do to finish these sear strong? Right? Maybe it's to go away to your favorite spot and just give give some self-love, right? And spend some time. Maybe it's spending time with family, maybe it's applying for that new job. Maybe it's telling the ones that you haven't told how much you appreciate them. Maybe it's signing up to that course you haven't signed up for. Maybe it's starting that hobby you haven't started. Maybe it's about creating some content. Maybe it's about doing the things that you've been putting off. There's there's always going to be challenges, there's always going to be problems, there's always going to be reasons why not to do something. There's always going to be things that limit us from actually taking action. But we have the ultimate control in determining how, when, and what. Right? We can go do something now today. If you want to start writing, pick up a book and start. Well, don't have to pick up a book, you can pick up your laptop and start writing. Or if you want to start reading, pick up a book and start reading. The point is, is like there is things that we can do, even as pity as they sound. If you want to start running, but you don't know how to run, get out and go for a jog. Run until you can't and then walk, then run again, then walk, then run again. There's things that we can be done, right? Or be doing to get us to where we want to be. So, what is one brave thing that you can do before the year ends? You gotta answer it, right? I've given you some ideas, I've given you some suggestions. More than happy to continue the conversation down below as well, if you're curious about this stuff. But you need to take the brave action in making sure you can finish the year with one little legacy piece that you want to go out with a bang with. Now, for me, is there one more brave thing that I want to do at the end of this year? I just want to enjoy, soak it all in, reflect and appreciate the busy year. It's been a busy year. For me, the one brave thing is to slow down. I I struggle to let go in slowing down, I struggle to switch off, and that is my brave thing to do. Now, the question that I'll finish up with is if this is my last episode for the year, and it is, it really is, but the question is, what do you need to hear the most? Right? And now I can't answer that. I have no idea why you're here in terms of what you're expecting. But what I can tell you is this is like we take what we want from anything that we hear. We hear what we want, we understand what we want, because that's how we're kind of chiseled and created. And you might have started this episode and didn't like it, so you switched off. You wouldn't even have heard this. But you've probably made it this far and maybe you're a little curious. It's like, well, what do I want to hear the most of? And I think you need to answer that. What is it that you want? What is it that you want to do? Where do you want to be? What do you want to be doing in the next year? This time next year, where do you want to be? Why do you want to be there? And what are you gonna do about getting there to ensure that you can make that happen? It's so easy to say things, it's so easy to say, oh, I'm gonna lose weight, or I'm gonna start running, or I'm gonna build my business to$100,000, or I'm gonna save$10,000, or I'm gonna go on a trip here. It's great. I'm excited for you, I'm motivated for you. But how are you going to do it? What are you gonna go do today that gets you ready for it? Right? For me, the best thing that I can do to make my next year the best is switch off, refresh, reset, be ready for it. But for some of you, maybe you've already had a big year at work and you know you want to get out of that. This is your time to hustle, right? It's a chance to kind of reflect, a chance to kind of think, well, what do you want to change for the new year? It's not about that the new year should give you that momentum, but it does. Psychologically, it does. So, how do you make that work for you? What do you need to hear the most? You have to answer it. But I think that there's this inner voice inside you right now thinking, oh, you want to do this, or oh, I wish he had said something about this. You're answering your own questions. Sometimes that inner voice is the heart telling you where your heart needs to go. What do you need to do? What are the things you want to be achieving? You've got goals to have your own business, you've got goals to be an influencer, you've got goals to go do some amazing sport, you've got goals to buy your first house, you've got goals to do all these different things. Go do it. Here's the permission to go do it. Give yourself the permission to go do it, right? End this year on your terms. End this year with a bang. If you want to go just become a full-time video game streamer, heck, go do that as well. Like, I'm not trying to give you the advice and say that this is what you should do because it's the right thing to do. But at the end of the day, if you want to be somewhere, there's a gap. And that gap is only defined and controlled by you. Controlled by you meaning like if you don't enter into that gap and actually start to figure out how to make it happen, it's never going to happen. Of course, once you get in there, there's gonna be lots of things out of your control, but you have to pivot, you have to adjust, you have to get flexible, you have to be willing to learn because that is the cost of what you want. Right? Nothing comes easy, nothing becomes free, nothing is just dropped into your lap in terms of the perfect world that you want to be living. You have to create it for yourself. So, where do you want to be in a year's time from now? Make sure you end this year on your terms, sign it off, be willing to say, yep, I'm pleased with this, I'm happy with this. But if you're not satisfied, that's okay too. Because next year you get to show up and you get to do it all again, but better. All right, the only person that can make it better is you. Whether it's through the actions that you do, through the conversations that you have, through the moments you share with other people, from the experiences that you create, you are the only one that is responsible and accountable of making that happen. We're gonna wrap it up there, folks. We are probably not back until could be four weeks, could be six weeks, sometime in January, I think. I'll try and give some updates. I'm just really gonna make sure I switch off. I don't actually get back until middle of January, I think it is. So I probably needed just a week or two just to adjust with a few things. But I'll try and have this back up and running before February. So the next episode will be episode 243, and it's probably gonna be like, what's next for 2026, or what's next for this new season, and how do you kick start the new season? Ideally, you've been listening for these episodes for the last six weeks. You've gotten some tools, you've got some prompts, you've got some homework to go make next year your best year yet. Now, if you haven't and you've just landed here, that's okay. Take in today's episode, make it work for you, spend some time for yourself, review it, reflect on it. If there's anything that I could leave you with that is going to help you get to where you want to be, is this? And it's it's a rose thorn bud process. Rose is basically you reflect on everything that you've just achieved, whether it's a year, a month, a day, whatever, of what worked well, what was going well for you, what were the good things, what were the great things, what worked well for you. Thorn are the things of like what didn't work for well for you, what are the problems that you had this year, and what are the things that you don't want to happen again, right? And then there's bug. These are your opportunities. What were the things that you saw or you've seen through the good and the bad that you now realize this is something that I think can create a rose? This is something that can bloom. This is something that will get rid of the thorns, this is the thing that will outweigh the thorns, right? So review all that, take that time, and I guarantee you that stuff, really simple, really basic, will help you think about this in a whole different perspective. If I could leave you with anything. But anything else I can leave you with would be basically make sure you enjoy the end of the year, make sure you enjoy some time with some family, some loved ones, be kind to yourself, take some time off, give yourself some self-love, and just remember that there's plenty of time. There is plenty of time, but the beauty of that time is you have to use it, right? Sure, you can plant a tree today, and in 20 years it's gonna be where it is. But if you do not plant the tree, the progress will not occur. So please understand that time is going to pass anyway. You have lots of time, so use it wisely. Do one thing that's gonna get you closer to where you want to be. I'll leave it there, folks. Really appreciate all the support, all the love, all the help that I've had from everyone that's tuned in, that's watched, that's commented, that's liked, subscribed, that's shared the podcast this year. We've seen some amazing growth this year as well, and I'm excited to see where we can take it into the new year. This is not possible without you. Obviously, yeah, here I am chatting, but you're here receiving it, and that means the absolute world to me. So I look forward to chatting to you again next year. And yeah, feel free to reach out. I might reply slow, but yeah, I'll see you when I'm looking at you, and you have a wonderful day. Cheers and happy new year.
