Journey into the ancient practice of Om meditation as we explore the transformative power of this sacred sound. This guided meditation session offers a pathway to presence, inner peace, and reconnection with your essential nature.
• Om, similar to "home," represents the sound of creation, oneness, and connection
• chanting Om calls you back to the present moment, breath, and body
• when properly chanted, Om helps deepen connection to your unchanging, peaceful consciousness
• Om pronunciation includes "ah" (open mouth), "oo" (closing mouth), and "mm" (closed lips)
• practice involves inhaling between Om sounds and exhaling through the entire chant
• a harmonium provides the background tone to guide the meditation

Hello Magical Human and welcome back to Madison Mindset, the podcast. In this episode, join me for a meditation practice. Please save this episode for a time where you can sit and join me in presence, a time where you can sit and join me in presence when you have some time for yourself. Find something to sit on, make sure it is comfortable. You can lean against a wall or even sit in a chair if you need to, but make sure you're in a seated position and not a lying down. We are going to take a practice that focuses on the chant Aum.
Speaker 2:Aum Similar to the word home, home and its meaning is the same. Aum is known as the sound of creation. It is oneness, it is connection. When you chant Aum, physically or mentally, you are calling yourself home to the present moment, to the present breath, to your life, to your body. You're getting out of the activity of the mind and you were deepening your connection to your consciousness, your essential nature, the part of you that is unchanging, part of you that is pure peace. It is where inner peace sits. Every time you chant Aum, you are calling yourself and others home To peace, to ease, to clarity.
Speaker 2:We are going to begin by finding that seated position. Take a moment to do that and join me. Sit still With the hands down or up on your thighs. The eyes are closed. Keep them closed for the duration of the practice. Begin to notice your breath, the gentle inhale and exhale of each breath. Inhale, simply, noticing the breath. Notice when you get distracted by the activity of the mind or any sounds or anything that's happening outside of you, even anything that the physical body is doing, any pain or any sensation. Just notice those distractions and turn your attention back to the breath. Back to the breath, just for a few minutes here. Practice Back to the breath, thank you.
Speaker 2:Beginning our Aum meditation, you are going to hear the harmonium in the background, keeping the tune of the Aum. You are going to inhale in the spaces between the Aum and with your exhale you are going to Aum, either out loud preferably, or just in your mind, but try to ohm for the full duration of the ohm before you inhale. So keep up with my breaths and we breathe together. We inhale in the spaces in between the ohm and exhale through the whole om. Om is pronounced A-U-M. So you start the sound, ah. Then you start to close the mouth. It turns into ah. And then you bring the lips together and it turns into ah, ah. Then you bring the lips together and it turns into Aum. The Auming correctly will be a great way to get the full benefit of the Aum and to feel it vibrating in your heart space. Let's begin the chant Inhaling in between the OM and AH.
Speaker 1:Inhale, inhale, inhale, inhale. Keep this going.
Speaker 2:Follow the Aum, follow your breath, relax and breathe.
