Speaker 1:

Hello Magical Human and welcome back to Madison Mindset, the podcast. Here we are up to episode three of our Elemental Healing series. If you have not yet listened to the first two elements, I highly recommend you jump back and listen to that after this or before this if you'd like to listen in order. We've already done the earth element and water element. This series is basically trying to inspire you for self-healing and different things that you can do to support your healing via listening to the elements. The earth, the natural part of this world right, is basically going to teach you and guide you and can create some pointers for you that are very natural and very organic, and I'm just gently offering some suggestions. So hopefully it's inspiring you and you have been taking these practices on and perhaps implementing some of them into your life. I have also been updating the mindset coaching on Patreon. What we're doing is taking each of these episodes deeper into a mindset session and we're doing practices or diving in a little bit deeper in terms of how you do certain practices and recommended things that you can do to actively take this information and work with it, because hearing it is one thing, doing something with it is a whole other thing and is so much more powerful to actually do it. Okay, hearing is very important, but doing something with it super important. So if you would like some extra guidance and some coaching with this, jump over to Patreon. The links are below. The mindset coaching tier is the one that you want. There are already heaps of beautiful videos on there that will support you in your mind journey and in your life journey towards peace. Enjoy that. Feel free to leave a comment if you need any support or any guidance at all with that. So for this episode, we are diving into the fire element Super fun, super exciting and lots of passion here. Speaker 1:

So the fire element. This element has many different teachings from many places. I'm going to take it from my perspective as well as what I have learned along the way. So it's a combination of many things. The fire element definitely has roots in the physical body and it also starts to come into the spiritual body. Right, it also has quite an impact on your routine, your daily life, what you do with your life, your purpose, your drive, your passion, whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 1:

So fire is essential. You know fire, in nature, is a cleanser. It supports new life. You know, especially in Australia, it cleans, cleanses, cracks, seeds open and replenishes new life and helps give birth to that new life. So it has a really beautiful role. You know. It is light in the darkness. It is warmth in the cold. You know, it really is a magical part of this world. It really is a magical part of this world and it's something that is so strong and so powerful. It can either be a light for you and a potential to keep yourself warm, and it can be a comfort, or it can be destructive. And this is the same as it is in your body, right.

Speaker 1:

So the fire element directly links to the digestive system in your body. This is where the fire element sits. This is where you might feel some burning in the belly or different things like that. So the fire element sits right here, right in your gut, and that's exactly where your discipline or motivation comes from as well. It sits right at solar plexus. Chakra We've done a lot of chakra work, so if you're curious, definitely go and listen to that. There are more chakra episodes coming that I'll be sharing with you.

Speaker 1:

But, yeah, sitting right at solar plexus, which is all about your identity, your ego, your ability to set boundaries, your strength, you know, and yeah, like what's amazing about the fire element as well, and what I take from it is, you know, a fire just like real fire. It can either be nourishing you or it can be destroying you. Okay. So, on one hand, to have a little bit of healthy fire about yourself, a bit of inner power, a bit of strength, a bit of go energy, you know, a bit of motivation let's move A little bit of that is great. It'll make sure that you do something in this life, that you stand up for yourself, that you stand up for something.

Speaker 1:

But if you have too much fire that leads to burnout, okay, there's a reason it's called burnout you literally burn yourself out. Okay. So the fire needs to be balanced, it needs to be maintained, but it needs to be kept in the furnace where it belongs. Don't let it burn too hot, don't let it go out. Okay, it's really important to keep that fire well nourished so that you can keep moving, so that you can rest and keep moving, so you can be nourished and comforted by the fire. But you can also achieve and move forward as you need to, forward as you need to. So there are, as usual, five different lessons we can take from the fire element.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the first one is discipline. Now, discipline is linked with motivation which, by the way, is not an external force. It comes from you. Willpower again comes from you. Inspiration, okay, your ability to show up, okay. Now it's important to keep discipline healthy, because some people take discipline to a whole new height where they're literally punishing themselves, punishing others, you know, in order to get themselves to do something.

Speaker 1:

Discipline is not a nasty thing, okay, and it's not even really real. No one is completely disciplined and if you think about you know, do you want to be disciplined? It sounds horrible. Who wants that? You know, discipline is more of a state of being. Okay. So if you decide I'm going to get up every morning at four 30 and meditate and you consistently do that, that looks like you're really disciplined. But what you are is just you've got strength to show up, you're choosing to show up, and it's not an easy decision, okay.

Speaker 1:

Anyone who has ever decided I'm going to do this how easy is it, you know, just to go back on that and not do it so easy. You know it takes a lot of oomph to get yourself off the couch and go and do the thing that you need to do, and it takes that fire in order to do it. If you don't have enough fire, you'll hear your alarm and go nah and just slide back into bed and you'll stay there. You know you've got to have enough. Go On the other side. If you're too much of that, you will hurt yourself, you will not rest properly, you will not relax properly and you will drain your physical and mental health. Okay, so, discipline is really important, but it's not about being disciplined all the time. It's about having the ability to show up when you need to.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so, making those mental decisions to go yep, three, two, one. I'm getting up, let's go. I've made a decision, I'm doing it. Making that choice, you know, in order to help yourself do that. You know, if you want to get up early in the morning, for example, don't go to bed at 1am. Make it easy on yourself and go to bed at a good time.

Speaker 1:

So think of it as self-parenting. If you were the parent of you, what would you want that version of you to do? What do you think is the best thing for you? Is it stream another episode on Netflix or is it go to bed? Is it snooze the alarm for the third time, or is it get up and do the thing that you said you were going to do?

Speaker 1:

You've got to take responsibility for yourself, and this is quite hard because, especially in the Western world anyways, the world that I grew up in when you're born you're pretty much told what to do, told what to do, told what to do. You get in trouble if you don't do what you were told to do. Then you go to school and everyone's telling you what to do, what to do, you know. Literally. You get disciplined if you're not doing the right thing you know. So we're actually trained to just hear and do what we're told hear and do what we're told. So when you're left alone and you finish school, you're an adult and you're trying to flourish on your own. You haven't been taught how to tell yourself what to do and make that decision. You know it's crazy.

Speaker 1:

I remember when I was like 16, I had my first job and I was waiting for everyone to tell me what to do and finally one of my supervisors was like have some initiative, you know what to do. And I was like light bulb moment. I was like what do you mean? I know what to do and I was like, oh, initiative, I was never taught. You know, you're never taught to actually figure out what you need to do, know what you need to do and follow through. You know that's. We're not taught that, okay. So this is another problem with the school system and the way you know we're brought up as well. You've got to be able to teach kids to be like. What do you think you should do? How are you going to get yourself to do it? And I think that's why we have so many adults struggling with discipline or motivation, because it's not someone else telling you what to do or there'll be a punishment and there's a deadline. You've got to be internally motivated, not externally motivated.

Speaker 1:

So if you want to get up and meditate and go to the gym, no one else really cares. If you've done that, that's your choice. So you've got to have the fire to make that decision. You've got to decide I'm getting up, right. So you're going to make it happen. And again, self-parenting will help you. Okay, set yourself up for success.

Speaker 1:

Don't go to bed at 1am ifm if you want to get up and meditate at 4.30. Okay, go to bed at the right time, you know. If you want to go for a run, lay all your clothes out in the evening before you go to sleep. Make it easy for yourself. If you want to eat healthy through the week when you go to the shop, don't buy all the sugar and all the crap. So it's not there. Make it easy for yourself, don't make it so hard, and then it's easy to make that decision. So you've got to have.

Speaker 1:

It's not that you need discipline. No one's really disciplined. It might look like someone's disciplined because on the outside you're just watching them showing up every morning at the gym, but you're not seeing the moment where their alarm goes off and they go oh, come on, let's go. You're not seeing that. It's a decision Okay, you've got to make the decision to get up and do something and it takes inner fire to do that. Okay. And the other practices we're going to go over are a way to help you earn and develop that discipline. Okay.

Speaker 1:

The second one is Kriya. Now, kriya is a Sanskrit word and it comes from traditional yoga, specifically Hatha yoga. Kriya practices are cleansing practices designed to purify the body and mind. In the previous episode, I went over cleansing your environment, making sure the environment is clean, and that definitely comes in here If you expect to be disciplined and fiery when your house and your everything is a mess there's stuff everywhere, there's too much stuff you try and sit down and do work at your desk, but there's stuff everywhere Like that's very difficult. Okay, cleansing your environment is very important Refer to the previous episode but for this we're talking about the body and the mind.

Speaker 1:

Okay, if you're not supporting a clean, cleansed body and mind, how do you expect to be disciplined? Okay, if you're eating sugar all day and then you try and get up and do something, you know what it's like when you eat a bunch of bad food. You feel terrible, you can't get off the couch. You know, if you've been binge watching YouTube or Instagram for three hours and your head is just, you're just brain dead. You just can't get up and do something. It just completely destroys you. So you've got to be really careful about what you're exposing yourself to, and then you've got to be able to burn off any impurities.

Speaker 1:

A yoga practice is a great way to do that. If you've done a traditional yoga class, you'll know how it feels. You walk in feeling a certain way. You go through some meditation, some pranayama, some asana. You go through beautiful breath techniques, relaxation techniques. You walk out feeling amazing, so good, cleansed, purified, because yoga focuses on these kriyas, these cleansing practices. Okay, and I'm going to give you a couple of easy examples, but then, on the Patreon version of this, which is coming out at the end of the week, we're going to actually do these practices together so that you have the awareness of what they look like, what they are and why we do them. So if you want to learn them, jump onto Patreon and we'll go through them together on Friday.

Speaker 1:

Okay, but for now, I want to introduce you to my favorite career and the easiest in my opinion, which is tongue scraping. Okay, tongue scraping is basically the idea of getting rid of the garbage that's sitting in your body, that comes up and sits on your tongue while you're asleep. Okay. So morning breath we all know morning breath. Why is it so smelly?

Speaker 1:

After you've brushed your teeth and gone to bed, you haven't eaten anything, you haven't done anything, and yet it stinks. While you're asleep, your body so cleverly collects all of the yuck, toxins, disgusting, all kinds of things all come up and they create a layer on your tongue. It looks white If you stick your tongue out in the mirror, sometimes, depending on what you've been eating and how you've been treating your body sometimes you'll see a white layer on the tongue. Okay, now your body has put that there while you're asleep. Your job is to now spit it out. But what do most people do? Maybe you roll over and have a big drink of water before you brush your teeth Straight back in. You are flushing all that hard work that your body tried to get all this stuff out and put right on the tongue and you went and swallowed it straight back down, right. So I like, since doing this, I do not get sick as often. Seriously, I used to get sick a lot. I do not get sick as often and this has been a pivotal practice in my daily routine.

Speaker 1:

And it's so easy. Right, it is a copper tongue scraper. Okay, copper tongue scraper super easy and all you're going to do when you've got it. You can get it from a health food shop, but you can also get them on Amazon. They're really cheap. All you're going to do before you brush your teeth, before you drink anything, you're going to go to the bathroom and you're going to do before you brush your teeth, before you drink anything you're going to go to the bathroom and you're going to scrape your tongue straight down the middle, down the right and down the left, spit it out. You can assess the tongue scraper? You can. I would rinse it after each one the down the middle, rinse, down the right, rinse, down the left, rinse. You can see the stuff that comes off your tongue and then brush your teeth and notice how different your tongue feels. Seriously, it is remarkable, it really is. I'm going to show you my tongue scraper in the Patreon video of this. But yeah, if you just look up copper tongue scraper, you'll find them. They're there. Really amazing practice, super simple, so easy, perfect.

Speaker 1:

Another amazing career is actually fasting. Okay, so fasting sounds like a modern day thing. It's actually quite ancient. So intermittent fasting. So I'm not talking don't eat for five days. I'm talking have a period that's 12 hours between 12 and 15 hours, a little bit longer, if you can, in between eating. So for me, when I do this, I need breakfast as soon as I'm up. I'm someone. I know my energy. I need to eat, okay, so I stop eating around 3 pm and then I won't eat again until 7 or 8 am the next day.

Speaker 1:

Now, that's sometimes the week before my bleed. I don't do that. If you are a woman experiencing periods, just be mindful that the week before your bleed you shouldn't be doing any kind of fasting. Your body needs the energy, okay, but other weeks that's fine. This is a great way to give your body a rest, your digestive system a rest, and to kind of cleanse itself. And the other cool thing is that your body, when it draws energy, it will first go to food source. So if you're constantly feeding your face, it just keeps drawing off that food that you keep putting in the body. But when the body is empty, there's no food the body starts to get really creative and starts to draw energy from other places, right, such as fat stores and even things such as rogue cells. So cancer cells really really cool, okay. So it's even a way to support the long-term health of the body. So that's really cool.

Speaker 1:

Look into it, do your research. Again, I'm not a doctor, right? I'm just giving you some of these ideas of what I do just to inspire you. Google them, find out if they're for you, give them a try, or talk to your doctor if you have any conflicting things going on. Okay, it's not for everybody, but yeah, it could be for you. So just take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. If you want to look into it, do your research. That's completely fine.

Speaker 1:

Another one that I'll share with you is called Kapalabhati, or skull shining, cleansing breath. Now, this is one that we do in yoga quite a bit. I also call it fire breath, connected to the fire element. Right, and not a good one. If you're pregnant or have high blood pressure or have headaches in the moment that you're doing, it Wouldn't recommend it for that. Any heart conditions at all. Stay away from this breath. But basically, what you're doing which again, we'll do in the Patreon, so check that out you're inhaling through the nose and you're doing super quick, sharp exhales through the nose. I don't know if you can see it, because this video is pretty high, so your stomach is literally pumping itself. All I'm doing is exhaling and the inhale happens all by itself. This breath clears the sinuses, energizes the brain and purifies the lungs, so good, so it's a practice.

Speaker 1:

There are so many great Kriya practices. Some are quite intense and quite traditional. Others are, you know, beautiful and chill. I prefer those ones. There is also one that you use, the neti pot. You may have seen that again, I'll show you on the Patreon version. There's a big white pot that you tip down your nose and cleanse the nasal passages. So, again, unless you're on the Patreon version, please do not try this unless you've looked it up. Done your research, send me a message if you need to. But if you're curious, just join the Patreon version. Please do not try this unless you've looked it up, done your research, send me a message if you need to, but if you're curious, just join the Patreon and check it out.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we're on there, we're doing it together, but there's just so many different things where you can literally help your body, your eyes, your ears, everything you know in terms of how much you expose your body to your brain, like turn the TVs off, turn the noise off, you know, give yourself mental space and silence, right. So all of this is going to help you with the fire element and it does take a little bit of. I'm going to help my body do this. You've got to have a bit of oomph about you, so that's an amazing one.

Speaker 1:

Next, digestion as I mentioned before, we're connected to digestion, so beautiful belly massages in a clockwise direction would be beautiful. Supporting your digestive health with beautiful digestive teas, drinking enough water, being mindful of how much sugar and how much salt you're having, being mindful of your diet, eating lots of fiber, things that help you. You know apples, quinoa, all these beautiful things you know that can really support digestive health. Get onto these things, definitely. You know chia seeds, get onto it. Your digestive health is unbelievably important. You know the gut is known as the first brain now, so get onto it. Be mindful of what you're putting into your body. It will affect how much energy you have. It will affect your inner furnace and your connection to the fire element. Okay, if you're eating things that make you feel like rocks and feel heavy, of course you feel sluggish. You know, if you're eating way too much like hot foods, chilies and just too much sugar and hyperactive stuff, of course you're burning yourself out. You've got to keep a nice, balanced, sattvic, nourishing diet. So, looking at your diet again, check out the Earth Element episode, because we went into food and in the Patreon we went deeper. Okay, so all this information is there for you. You just got to go get it.

Speaker 1:

The next one heat and moving. Moving your body, getting some heat happening, some cardio, some exercise. You know jumping around, getting a sweat on. You know having an infrared sauna. Any kind of cardio is great. Getting the heart pumping, moving around, get your body moving. This is a great thing to do. Twisting is beautiful for the solar plexus chakra and the digestive systems. The twisting side bending, tapping on that space just below the rib cage All of that is going to be a great way to stimulate that energy. So if you're a cardio person, this is your moment, but not too much. A little bit, not too much, right, don't hurt yourself.

Speaker 1:

Finally, we're going into the balance here. So this element is connected to the sun, which is masculine. The water element the previous episode, the previous element is connected to feminine energy. Okay, what we have here is a beautiful balance in between the sun and the moon, water and fire. They need each other. They help keep each other in control. The water makes sure the fire doesn't get too out of control, that there's still time for rest and peace, for stillness, for darkness, for emotional input, all of these things, and that's great. But the fire makes sure that you don't get lost in the flow of magic. You know that it makes sure that you show up for yourself and that you self-parent and that you do't get lost in the flow of magic. You know that it makes sure that you show up for yourself and that you self-parent and that you do the things you need to do and keep yourself healthy and moving towards goals or to your purpose in this life. You know, using these two together is very interesting.

Speaker 1:

You can often say to yourself like, if you're in a go, go, go, go, go and hyper-stressed mode, you can pretty much say that you need some water element. If you're feeling very lazy, very lethargic, very floaty, you're just doing your thing, just hanging out, la, la, la la. You probably need some fire element. You know you've got to find a balance here and all of us have a different combination and build of these elements within us. You'll find one that's easier than the other. You know you might find you're really connected with go, go, go energy, or you might really be connected with, ah, floaty energy or grounded energy or air. You're up in your head all the time. You know you'll feel more connected with one or two than the others, but you need them all. You are a construct, a build of all of them, so you need to learn how to manage the elements inside of your body. All right, so this has been the fire element inspired healing.

Speaker 1:

I hope you enjoyed it Again. If you're curious, please jump onto the Patreon. The link is below. I would love to see you there. Send me a message on there, send me an email. I'm always happy to support you one-on-one if you need anything. We'll also be going over the colors and everything else in the Patreon and, yeah, just diving into it a bit deeper. So, yeah, I hope you enjoyed this. Take something from it. See if you can implement it into your life. If you have any questions for me, leave a comment on this episode. If you're on Spotify or YouTube, or you can send me an email. My email address is below. Please use that. I'm not on Instagram at all right now, so don't bother with that, but definitely jump into other places. And yeah, thank you. Thank you for being here. I appreciate you and I will see you in the Air Element episode. I'm sorry you.
