Hello Magical Human and welcome back to Madison Mindset, the podcast.
Speaker 2:In this episode, we are diving deeper into the chakra series with sacral chakra. The root chakra episode was released two weeks ago, so definitely go and check that out if you haven't already. This episode was originally recorded for held the podcast, which I did for 12 months with my beautiful friend, molly. It was a really beautiful opportunity and experience, really hosting space for women like an online women's circle. That podcast is still out and available to listen to if you haven't listened to any of it, but we are no longer continuing it. We just wanted it to be a year project and, yeah, so amazing. Molly is an incredible human being. If you want to go and find her, all of her details are below. She is a breathwork practitioner and an amazing coach. She's wonderful to talk about the mind and spirituality with and she's just a ray of sunshine. So definitely go and check her out. On Patreon, you will find the coaching version of this episode. So we're going to dive into practices for sacral chakra and go a little bit further into it together. If you're on Patreon, go and check that out after this episode. You're welcome to join anytime Super accessible. I'd love to see you there. Thank you for your support. Enjoy the episode.
Speaker 2:Hello, magical Human and welcome to Madison Mindset Podcast. My name is Madison. I'm a yoga teacher, a mindset and spirituality coach and a complete earth fairy. I see a world that is peaceful and easy to live in, humans that are awakened and enlightened towards who they are and what life truly is and why we are here, towards who they are and what life truly is and why we are here. I understand life can be really hard. I have had a huge journey with anxiety myself. I understand what it's like to feel overwhelmed, overworked, stressed and frustrated within this earth. It is this journey that led me to begin my own growth journey. It is only through those struggles that I was able to birth this podcast, so that you can have the tools and techniques and knowledge to help you step forward and be a being of light, a magical earthly being who's grounded, supported, who takes on challenges with love and embraces the lessons that each day brings you. Are that being. I am here to walk you there.
Speaker 2:You will find many different kinds of episodes through this podcast. All are created in the moment and with love for you. Find the one you need for this moment and enjoy. Take a moment for yourself. Sit down with your journal and tune in Welcome, welcome. Let's begin. Hello everyone, welcome back to Held. Hey Molly, how are you doing?
Speaker 3:Hey, I'm good, sorry, I was like. Do I say hi, do I not?
Speaker 2:Yes, am I checked out? I think I'm out. I've signed out.
Speaker 3:It's that time of the day, doll. I am ready to check out, but this is a nice way we've changed up the time that we're recording everyone. It's afternoon. Well, I'm finishing my work day. Maddie is sort of going into her evening of classes.
Speaker 2:Yeah it's weird, isn't it, such different schedules? Yeah it is. It's weird, isn't it, Such different schedules? Yeah it is. It's nice, though it's good. I just spent the last two hours making salads. Oh, some meal prep. Sort of not even like. I make stuff and then all the family eat it. Like this is the trouble with having so many people living with you. You make food and you're like that'll sort me for three days and days and then you go and it's gone and you're like where the fuck did it go?
Speaker 2:I didn't even get to eat any, yeah yeah, so I'm looking forward to the days, but that's not a problem.
Speaker 3:But yeah, and then I literally, I literally have the opposite problem, where I'll like cook something up and I've fucking made enough for like three families and I'm like, oh no, it's gonna go to waste.
Speaker 2:She's eating bowls or at breakfast, lunch and dinner and I also get sick of things.
Speaker 3:Though. Like I get sick of things, like I'll eat it for two days and I'm like no, I don't want that the next day yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's hard, isn't it? I don't know, I just love having things quick and easy to grab, but I have the hardest time maintaining it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, keeping it around yeah, I'm definitely working on that actually because I met with my friend, my beautiful friend Gabby, who's a dietician, and she's actually said she'd love to come on the podcast Beautiful. But she was giving me some tips and tricks and one of those things is to be a bit more prepared with like things in the fridge and stuff. So I am trying.
Speaker 2:But yeah, anyway, it's a work in progress. Yeah, I tell you what, though I can make a salad. Slay bloody good at salads. Anyone needs salads like I'm on it. I'm on the salad. I made one with like Dijon mustard and tahini, like the separate Dijon mustard one and then a tahini one yeah, okay, delicious, let's go into our lesson and blessing and cycle check-in.
Speaker 2:Yes, okay, I'll go first. I'm on day 27 lesson and, blessing, my lesson is to go with the flow, go with what's happening. Um, yeah, I've just the last few days, like end of last week and the start of this week, calling that a few days. I'm really just allowing things to happen as they happen and, yeah, going with my own flow as well. I'm often trying to do things that please others.
Speaker 2:So it's an interesting kind of game when you're like trying to follow what you need to do versus what other people want you to do and kind of balancing all that. So, yeah, just trying to let go and just go with it for a bit instead of being so serious. And my blessing, I've been like living with Muz for like the last three weeks and I still can't let him out of my sight, absolutely obsessed, in love with him, and it does not annoy me at all, which is amazing, because I get sick of people pretty quickly if I'm going to. So I'm really excited about that because, yay, I found someone who I can like live with and not get sick of. So that's first. And yeah, it must be my soulmate or something.
Speaker 3:So massive blessing. Yay, yay for finding a soulmate, yay for finding someone who you want to do all of life with. You know, exactly that's what I love. That's what I love about Corey.
Speaker 3:Actually, I was talking about this to Ellie um on the phone the other day. We were just like it's sorry to us having a partner that you just want to do like fucking normal life shit with. Like you just want to sit on the couch and watch a movie or you just want to make dinner together or whatever. And I think that's the thing with distance as well, because Ellie's also doing a distance relationship now. But it's like when you're doing the distance, like at the start, it's really exciting. You're always doing dates and all stuff like that. But then it gets to a point and when you realize that it's your person you just want to do those life things with, like come home and come home to them, so it's like a really nice um. I guess it's like reassuring knowing that I don't just want to do all the exciting things in life like I just want to do the normal life stuff too.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's so beautiful I love that and we had so much fun. We went on a double date on the weekend.
Speaker 3:It was so much fun it was so nice and because, like Corey hasn't really like, I've met a lot of his friends and been like in relationship, like couple-y things with them, but because, like I don't know, like here my friends are sort of spread out, we don't really do that much stuff, so it was nice to hang out with, like my friends in a couple-y situation as well. So it was really fun and we went adventuring and fuck, we had some good belly laughs. It was so funny.
Speaker 2:I loved it.
Speaker 3:Like we were four-wheel driving.
Speaker 2:I turn around and Molly's like holy shit, that chick is wild girl. Yeah, oh my God, it was pretty scary. I reckon it's worse in the back seat, though, because you can see less and you feel more.
Speaker 3:I was like on a fucking roller coaster. It's like I was at movie world or something. Holy shit, it's bloody free roller coaster. What do you want? You know?
Speaker 2:like that's pretty good.
Speaker 3:No, it was really good. I'm excited to hang out again. That'll be. It's going to be fun. We can do lots of fun things together too. All right, my cycle check-in. I am on day five, so I am in inner spring follicular baby. Thank the fucking Lord. I've sworn a lot this episode already I'm going to. You can tell my energy is rising, yeah, but thank God for that because, honestly, those last five days I seriously felt like my world was ending. I was so emotional, so moody, so snappy, like maybe it was a moon thing because there was some shit happening up there. But wow, I'm glad I'm through it, you know.
Speaker 2:Yes, feel you.
Speaker 3:So, yes, that's where I'm at Current lesson. Do you know what? I'm going to take your lesson of going with the flow. That's going to be my lesson this week, because I'm really working on letting go of control, because you literally can't control anything. You've never been in control, you're never going to be in control. So just go with the flow, don't try and control all the little minute things throughout the day in your relationship, et cetera, et cetera. And I'm really going to take that on board this weekend because I'm going to Canberra spending the weekend with, like, corey and his family and stuff, and I'm just going to go with the flow. So, thank you for sharing your lesson. That is also my lesson.
Speaker 3:Beautiful and a current blessing would be making sense of the way that our brain works. I'm reading reading a really good book at the moment. It's called Magnetic by Rochelle Fox, and it's talking all about the magnetic mind. It's talking about, like, how the brain works with the unconscious and the conscious mind and how we can like reprogram it and rewire it to manifest what we want in this life, and it's like putting a science-y, practical sense behind it all. So that's my blessing like learning and making sense of how our brains actually work. So yeah, maybe in a future episode I can do like a recap of what I've learnt in the book as well.
Speaker 2:Beautiful. I love that Look at you getting all sciencey.
Speaker 3:I know I mean, my blessing is my brain. Damn girl, you know what the thing is right like. I've always been very woo like into the spiritual side of things, but I'm loving like with breath work. I love understanding the science behind it so I can connect it all and make sense of it. So yeah, yeah, well, we haven't introduced what this episode is. We're going into our second episode of the chakra series, which is the sacral chakra, am I right, maddie?
Speaker 3:correct yay, bang on, bang on take it away, sis, take it away teacher, and you're off. Have fun, I'm checking out. I'm going to kick back and relax.
Speaker 2:Oh God, all right. So sacral chakra. So to recap on the last one, just the important things that are relevant. Root chakra, the element is earth. With this chakra, it is red, is located down the base of the spine. It's your safety, security, food, body, physical body stuff connection to the earth. Sacral chakra is called Swadhisthana chakra in Sanskrit and it is slightly above that. It's sitting right in the center of your pelvis and, as I mentioned in the last episode, if you didn't listen to the last episode, I went over a lot of basics, basic chakra stuff in that episode. So please go back and listen to that first. It will help you with this one. It's really like building blocks here.
Speaker 2:So start with the first one, then come to this one. So this one sitting just above the last one and, as I mentioned, it's spinning around horizontally like a plate. It's spinning slightly faster than root chakra, which is why the color is orange and the frequency is a little bit higher. Right, when this chakra is out of balance or in, you know, kind of falling backwards, it gets kind of sluggish. It goes into like a brownie orange bit gross. When it goes to the hyperactive end, it gets like super bright, like a think of a lolly, like an orange lolly and yeah, just too much, okay. So in the center of that is the balance and where it's supposed to be.
Speaker 2:Sacral chakra is also connected to the body, but it's slightly above. So if you imagine heart chakra, which is the center of the seven main chakras, it's kind of the bridge in between. It's half physical, half spiritual, so it glues the physical and the spiritual together, right? So the first three chakras are really about the body. The higher three are about the spirit. Heart chakra is kind of a combo of all of those. It moves into both. It's a bridge.
Speaker 2:So sacral chakra can only come into balance once root chakra is happy. So once you are safe, secure, well-fed, confident in your place on the earth and your body's place, your body's existence, then we can move to sacral, which is connected to your emotions, your creativity, your sensuality and your sexual pleasure. Right, it's a lot to do with emotional regulation as well and emotional intelligence, all right. So if this chakra is out of balance, you're going to be highly emotional and you're not going to be able to regulate your emotions. So think of a baby or a child who needs to be comforted in order to be regulated. So you're going to need that comfort externally. You can't get it yourself. You're relying on others, like a child, right. So this is why it's emotional immaturity right, you need someone to help you regulate. Emotional maturity is being able to do that for yourself. So this is in this space.
Speaker 2:You'll also have issues with relationships and giving and receiving pleasure in whatever form that takes. So, yeah, it's a big thing to look at. If you have a lot of issues any inner child stuff, any sexual traumas, relationship traumas, any of these kinds of things your upbringing comes in here. This is really relevant in this space and it's going to manifest itself in your relationships and your ability to give and receive and really enjoy pleasure. It also comes down to your self-expression and creativity, okay. So if you feel creative blocks, if you feel like you can't express yourself, you don't know how to express yourself or you don't even think you have a creative side, then this is also a problem. Okay, it's good to mention as well that this is connected to the water element. So think of the flow. You know the movement of the flow, the creativity, the pleasure, the creation, all of the things that come through here. So, yeah, it's a powerful space and yeah, you're also going to feel things like instability, right, and yeah, your emotions are going to feel uncontrollable, like it's really dramatic and all over the place and that you can't really get a handle on it. So, yeah, it's a pretty interesting space and it's interesting because you can heal this chakra through sensuality and practicing with your creativity and sexuality as well.
Speaker 2:And you'll find often that when you get into a partnership, you have two people with two different sacral chakras, two different experiences, and they often will clash. The way you express yourself has problem. You know the way you create your relationship and your traumas and your expectations and all of it and your emotions clash and you end up in arguments and fighting with this person. So it's kind of like what we've said before about you know you're also, when you're in a relationship, you're dealing with someone else's traumas and triggers and all that kind of stuff. This is where sacral chakra comes in. This is where it's coming from.
Speaker 2:So, if you can imagine, you know, and, for example, if you have any, this chakra can be tricky to talk about because we might put a warning actually, molly as well, I'm just going to say that now maybe put a warning for, like sexual sensuality stuff. You know traumas or anything. But yeah, if you have had a bad sexual experience or sensual experience, or if you've expressed yourself and it wasn't received well, if you created something and it wasn't received well, or any kind of emotional trauma like yeah, like those sort of like bigger, though um bigger, sort of traumas.
Speaker 3:That doesn't have to be like capital t trauma, but any sort of trauma in that space yeah, well, it's very much relationship-based traumas so you know, after you've dealt with the first chakra, it's your safety and security, right.
Speaker 2:And then you move a little bit higher into you know dealing with how you were treated as a child, how you were responded to when you expressed yourself. And you recall, you know expressing yourself really loud in a cafe and your parents told you, shh, don't have those emotions here, you know. So it's all the inner child wounds, the friendship wounds, the relationship wounds, any kind of intimacy that you had in any kind of relationship is going to be held right here. So yeah, it's an interesting space. But say, if you have had something or you've got some kind of trauma and we've all got stuff, okay, you're not alone.
Speaker 2:Some people have bigger traumas. Some people have not as big, you know, but we all have stuff that we've got here and say, if that trauma made you feel like you're not safe to express yourself and you're not safe in your body in general, then you're going to be triggering root chakra. So root chakra is then going to go. I'm not safe, it's going to freak out, you're going to be in fight or flight. Then you're living your life in fight or flight zone, which means the top three chakras. Forget about it. Spiritual stuff no way, because my life is on the line right. So out the window. Heart chakra, love and compassion nope, I'm not safe to feel that. You know solar plexus, be myself, have an identity no way not going to have that. You know sacral intimacy, you know feeling emotional. You know regulation and being able to support yourself emotionally no, because I'm not safe. So you can see how this gets really complicated in affecting other chakras. So when that sacred chakra is balanced, you feel emotional fluidity, creative inspiration and a strong sense of personal power. Okay, so you feel like you're safe to express yourself, how you're feeling, what you need. You recognize your traumas and triggers, you see when they happen and you can deal with them in a healthy manner. And this is when you can start to have a healthy relationship, an aligned relationship, without repeating the same patterns over and over again. Everyone's heard water has memory. Right, your body is mostly water. Sacral chakra is connected to the water element. So that's why you repeat the same relationship patterns of the same destructive patterns. Because it has memory. It just keeps doing the same thing over and over again in the same circumstances. So it's quite interesting.
Speaker 2:But for anyone who's interested again in the science side of sacral chakra there are a couple of things. The first is you know the last chakra I mentioned, that pedendal nerve lines up with root chakra. Now it resonates here as well. If anyone's curious, look up where pedendal nerve runs in the body. It runs through the genitals as well. It runs through your, your pelvis, it runs to the tailbone, to your bottom and to the front. It runs everywhere. And what it does in this entire area, when you're feeling unsafe or triggered or something like that, this area will be clenched and pedendal nerve will send a message to vagus nerve right, which will then run up to your brain and go something's wrong, we're not safe, fight or flight. So then we start to repeat this pattern and live in this area, you know.
Speaker 2:The other cool thing about this space is people who have high emotional days. If they're, you know, triggered or something's happened, they've had, you know, some kind of emotional intensity, it's something's happened, I've had, you know, some kind of emotional intensity, it's something's happened. Often, what happens is people experience hip, pelvis, sacrum or lower back pain. Wow, these are very common areas and these areas get triggered by emotion. Okay, of course there's relevance in you know your alignment physically and you may have had an injury, but you'll find people with a lower back injury get triggered. The lower back injury comes back or re-intensifies when your body thinks it's not safe. It clenches up and the injury, the pain, comes back. So that's why you know someone listening to this might go oh, that's why I get lower back pain every single time I've had a bad day or I've had a fight with my partner or I haven't got along with my kids.
Speaker 2:You know. That's why you know so obviously. You know this space is also. You know where you bring children into the world. You know it's, it's reproductive, it's everything. So all of your patterns, your traumas live in this space. Children come from here. They run with these same emotional patterns, so ancestral traumas and things very relevant here as well. So it's a crazy space.
Speaker 3:I'm so glad you touched on the like physical pain presenting in the body, cause that was something I was going to ask you. I was going to ask, like, with the chakras, if there's something off, can it manifest as physical pain in the body? And you've just answered that which is so powerful. So like as we go through the series, like the invitation for you to tap into your body and see, like, are there any places like, do you have gut issues? Do you have lower back issues? Do you have shoulder issues? And then sort of take mental note of that and then listen to the chakra which is sort of in that area of the body definitely yeah, it's big, um yeah.
Speaker 2:So if you'd like to start balancing this chakra, so the last chakra again, I mentioned things for root chakra you must be doing that, okay, so start from there. You have to bring all of these in. You don't have to do all of them, but you definitely have to embrace some of them in.
Speaker 3:You don't have to do all of them, but you definitely have to embrace some of them and most of them are just routine. You know, it's again like that Maslow's hierarchy of needs, what you mentioned in that first episode like you've really got to have that bottom to build up to the top. So it's sort of like stacking all of these, which is a. I just think when we referenced that Maslow's hierarchy of needs, everyone I think would have a good idea of what it looks like. So just imagine that with the chakras. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:So the most important one, with the last one, is understanding that the body whatever you eat and consume, the body becomes that the body whatever you eat and consume, the body becomes including your energy, right and barefoot on the ground as often as possible, is priority, sacral. So here we start to get into freedom. Okay, you have to practice befriending who you are on an expressive level. Okay, so this is where you would be invited to dance, sing, speak, make music, write, share how you really feel. Start to really allow yourself to be expressed in the way that feels natural for you, not in the way you think you're expected to. You know, if you need to scream, if you need to shout, if you need to dance, if you need to jump, if you need to, whatever it is, do those things. Embrace your creativity as well. Have time to be creative. And if you're not sure where to start with that, if you don't really have a place where you'd start, then look at what you used to do as a child, what you really enjoyed doing, and start there and see what you can come up with. Yoga asanas that are relevant any hip openers, butterfly pose, lower back support positions so you know, really working into the hips with pigeon pose or lizard pose. Again, any yoga class will lead you through a series of hip openers, depending on the style and the teacher. So definitely move the hips a little bit. But that's why I recommend dancing, because you can kind of get sensual with it and really like move your hips and have a play with how you feel in your body.
Speaker 2:And then practicing giving and receiving pleasure Okay, with intention, with aligned people, all right. So with yourself. Most definitely you can work on this, and this is where you might visit places such as Yoni Pleasure Palace. That is my go-to in terms of, you know, really befriending pleasure within your own body, because it's all you know, it's crystals and it's positive energy. It's not, you know, kind of distracting yourself with pleasure. It's actual. You know, de-armoring and working on loving this area. Self-massage as well is good. Yes, molly Hand up miss.
Speaker 3:Another person you can follow on Instagram and check out for that type of thing is Montana Vacari. We'll link her below and, excitingly, we have been chatting with her and we will be having her on the podcast too, so we'll be able to dive into all of this with her too. Yeah, beautiful.
Speaker 2:Beautiful. That's exciting, yeah. So anything you know pleasure, intimacy with yourself, self-massage. You know taking care of your body, massaging yourself, inner child work, mirror work, you you know looking at yourself in the mirror and saying that you love yourself. You know really starting to embrace your own emotions, embrace your own feeling, your own intimacy with yourself, and then the relationships in your life. Yeah, all of these things are good and if you're curious, you can always send us a message. But, yeah, and if you, yeah, curious, just just reach out, do some research. There's some great books, some great resources online, so check that out. But yeah, that is sacral chakra.
Speaker 3:Amazing and just like the root chakra for the held practice, we have a series of journal prompts for you to sit down and do in your own time. So I'll read those out now, but they will be in the show notes as well. So again, we've got three themes. We've got creativity and passion. How do I express my creativity in my life? Are there areas where I feel uninspired or blocked? What activities or practices can I engage in to reignite my passion and creative flow?
Speaker 3:Theme two is sensuality and pleasure. How connected do I feel to my senses and pleasures in life? Do I allow myself to fully experience joy, touch, taste and beauty, or do I hold myself back? In what ways can I cultivate more pleasure and self-care, relationships and emotional connections? How do I approach relationships, both romantic and platonic? Do I feel emotionally connected and open to intimacy, or do I hold back? What changes can I make to nurture healthier, more fulfilling relationships with myself and others? So take time to journal on those, do a little bit of an audit of your sacral chakra and thank you again, maddie, for guiding us through a beautiful lesson and can't wait for the next one. What's the next one? Solaplexus, solaplexus. Can't wait for that one as well. I'm literally loving this. I'm learning so much.
Speaker 2:So thank you so much.
Speaker 3:It's so much fun.
Speaker 2:Of course I love it. I love going over the chapters. Thank you for being here, magical Human, and for enjoying this episode. I hope you got something out of it. I hope you've got some takeaways and, if you're ready to jump in a little bit deeper, join me on Patreon when you're ready for our coaching session. Enjoy the rest of your day, love ¶¶. Thank you you.
