What The Nervous System Does

In this episode, we are going to go through some beautiful affirmations to help balance the nervous system. Your nervous system is a highly complex network of communication. And it's made up of the brain, the spinal cord, and your nerves. It uses electrical and chemical signals. It processes information and regulates processes such as your heart, your breathing, and enables thought, movement, and memory. It is a highly complex, beautiful system.

Sympathetic Vs Parasympathetic

And you may have heard of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, sympathetic being the go-action system, and parasympathetic being the rest, digest, heal system. When we talk about balancing the nervous system, we are moving the system into a state of balance. Okay, both of these sympathetic parasympathetic states, they're not good or bad. We need both of them. They provide value in different ways. We need them both. But to spend too much time in sympathetic vital flight means that you will burn out and you'll also drain your health. Because when you're in this vital flight state, your digestion, your sleep, your immune function, your resilience, all of these things, your self-healing processes are not happening. So when you regulate your system, when you balance the system, you'll enhance your mental clarity, your resilience, your digestion, your immunity, your sleep, and it will help reduce stress and anxiety. Okay, it is going to benefit you physically overall.

Why Regulation Improves Health

So it is important to take this time to balance the system every day, ideally, to really think about how I can balance my system, how can I support myself well so that my body can take care of itself, so that I can improve my quality of life, so that I can prevent chronic disease, so that I can heal.
