In this episode, I’m talking to John Horton, a British Nordic Walking Instructor from Rochester in Kent. John is also a qualified personal trainer, a paramedic and university lecturer in Paramedic Science at Anglia Ruskin University. John has a background in road, trail running and ultra marathon running and has undertaken several extreme challenges in his running career, which we will discuss in our conversation. However, he had to find an alternative form of exercise when he developed Osteoarthritis six years ago, which is the subject of this episode. John is not alone in this condition; approximately 8.5 million adults in the UK have Osteoarthritis and it is estimated that 50% of people over 65 have some evidence of this disease in their joints.
