#96 - Endometriosis 101 | Tiffany Davis Nazaire (Endometriosis Awareness Month) (RECAST) (Cooper's Hawk South African Red Blend)
Endometriosis Awareness takes place across the globe during the month of March with a mission to raise awareness of a condition that affects an estimated 200 million people, about 1 in 10 women, worldwide. Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition where tissue, similar to the endometrial tissue that lines of the uterus, grows outside of the uterus.
The pain of endometriosis can be devastatingly debilitating and it is the leading cause of fertility challenges in women as it carries a huge personal and societal burden. As such, this month we'll be talking about everything endometriosis including the importance of having an "endo"specialist (not merely your gynecologist) on your team, endometriosis and the microbiome (how diet affects endometriosis), the "endo" myths, the multidisciplinary "endo"-individual approach to self-care, "endo" and relationships, "endo" and pain perception, the surgical intervention aspect of "endo", and "endo" plus fertility challenges... ALL FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A PERSON LIVING WITH AN ENDOMETRIOSIS DIAGNOSIS.
Yellow is universally known to be the color for endometriosis awareness so when you see someone wearing a yellow ribbon, an awareness tool, ask them about endometriosis. You'll be surprised at what you learn.
