A New School Year: Starting Off On The Right Foot

In this episode I discuss ways to start off the new school year on the right foot. Much of the advice came from Ed Mylett and his new book, “The Power of One More.” In this one, he talks about the idea of how many people approach life: as a marathon. They only check in with themselves once or twice a year around New Years to see how they’ve done with their goals and what they want to accomplish the next year.

But he mentions how more success comes from constantly having checkpoints to monitor your success and treating them as little sprints instead of a marathon. When we have little sprints of action, we speed up the urgency of getting things done.

He describes his way of doing this as 3 days in one. Instead of saying, “I want to get this accomplished today,” he says, “Day 1 I will do this, Day 2 this, and Day 3 I will do this.” He organizes his days like this: 6 am to 12 pm is day one, 12 pm to 6 pm is day 2, and 6 pm to 12 am is day 3.

By doing this, he sees himself accomplishing 3 days of work in one days time, and compounded over time makes an astronomical difference. So, in your life, understanding what your values are and what you want to see more of, start designing your days into different categories to make that come to fruition!
