Melissa Wiggins:

Hello, lassies and lads, welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I have a really exciting episode today because it's about having an Easy Summer, and you can stop rolling your eyes now. I get it, the word easy and the word summer together can be tough. But I believe in you. I believe in our team, and I believe that we can do this. And because of that, I have created, I'm so excited, a very cool, fun, community-based, lassies together webinar. And it's free.

So for three days, I'm going to show up live for you. I'm going to coach you. It's going to be interactive. You're going to be able to send in questions. I've already created a Facebook page, and listen. Oh, it just makes my heart so happy because the lassies are already on there, introducing themselves. They're talking about some of the hard things that come with being a working mother and also having children at home for the summer.

And really this rule applies, whether your kids are very little and require lots of attention or whether they are older, because the mom guilt that many of us experience really is across the board, right? Whether you have a 17-year-old sitting playing gaming all day, or like me, you have a four-year-old who wants to play tea time. Okay? We love you, Charlie. I love my tea parties with you, if you ever listen to this podcast one day when you're older, sweet girl. Okay?

So easy summer was inspired by my clients. So in our coaching in EmpoweredLife, we've been talking a lot about just some of the expectations of summer and what it does to our mom brains when we feel like we are failing at all of the things. And it's funny, when I started researching easy summer and hard summer, this will just blow your mind.

Okay, easy summer hashtag had less than 1000 times it was used. Hard summer hashtag, look it up. There's literally like 500,000 times it's been shared. Why? Because a lot of us get a lot of anxiety when we're moving into summer because we have to figure out childcare help for our kids. We have a lot of guilt around how much we work, when we work. And so talking to my clients, talking to my team, and saying like, how can we help?

And I have done a lot of coaching around this for the last couple of years, because I also have suffered from the mom guilt, from the lack of boundaries, from the wrong expectations. And once I started doing all of my value work with Brant Menswar, who is also one of my coaches, we started really digging into what's important, how do I prioritize?

And family is one of my values, but also is leadership. And because of that, for me to have a summer where it's all about the children or a summer where it is all about work, it doesn't work. It doesn't fulfill me. It doesn't feel good. I need both. And so, many of my clients and many of you listening I know are the same. Okay? So because of that, I was like, how can I create something to help you? And I really feel like I did. And I feel like I did a good job, and I'm excited to share it.

So there's going to be a workbook, and along with me, we will work on it together to create a plan for an easy summer. Now I want you in the show notes, there's going to be a sign up for the webinar. Even if you cannot come live, sign up because I will send you the recording and then you can watch it. But also when you sign up, you'll get access to our private Facebook group, and people are already in there.

And one of the things that I think is really important about the Facebook group is sort of the sense of community and supportiveness of women who want to be good moms but also love their work or have a job that requires a lot of them. And so they're in there and they're talking about how do we enjoy the moment? How do we be present? How do we balance work? What does that look like?

And so I'm coaching them already. I'm in there. I'm asking them questions. So if you want to be coached with me, get in there. Ask a question. I will go in, me personally, and coach you on the page. The page is private, so you will only get to be a part of it if you're going to be in the webinar or have signed up for the webinar. So take advantage of that. That is really going to be our big source of pushing into some of the things that I will teach in the webinar.

So I really wanted to share that. I want to help you have a plan. I want you to feel supported in this journey. I want to share some of the mindset tools that I work on with my EmpoweredLife clients, which, by the way, you will have an opportunity to at the end of the webinar, you'll have an opportunity to ask me any questions about how to coach with me, how to join the six-month coaching program. I'm going to be opening up for applications on August 4th to August 10, and we begin work August 22nd.

So put those dates in your calendar. There are limited spots for my six-month coaching program because I really like to dig into a small number of people and really help them have empowered lives. So you'll get the opportunity to ask about that also. And some of the tools that we use in that program, I will be sharing with you. You know, I really want to dig into how do we be present, and I want to dig into quality over quantity. Something I talk to my clients about a lot is really getting into this mindset of creating quality time with their children and their families and not just looking at quantity, right?

Like maybe you can't be with them 24/7, but how can you make the time you are with them be just about them. And I kind of think about this weekend, I'm going away with my husband. Once a year, we do a trip, just the two of us. We would love to do more, but for now we have four children, 10 and under. And so one trip is like joy for us. And we're going to Turks and Caicos. I've never been there, and I'm going to turn off my phone for the entire time I'm with him. Yeah, I know some of you are listening and they're like, "How the heck could she turn off her phone?" And I can turn it off because my husband is going to have his on. So any emergencies, our babysitter will be able to get in touch, but for me, turning it off will allow me to be present with my husband.

It'll allow me to really focus on quality memories with him. I also found when I don't have my phone on for a couple days, that the time just feels longer. It feels like moments feel longer. I'll look at the time and it will be like two o'clock and I'll think it's time for bed. The days just feel amazeballs. Okay? And so, that's an example of me getting very intentional, taking my values, pushing it into intentionality, and making for an easy summer. Okay?

I am currently in my office, and I'm looking out of my window at a humongous inflatable water slide because shortly, maybe in like 30 minutes, I'm about to go pick up my four kids from school and a couple of their friends and 40 children will be at my house for an end-of-school-year party. Now, when I talk about easy summer, some of you were probably thinking "That's easy, Melissa? What are you talking about? You're going to have 40 people at your house?"

I have made this party as easy as possible. I have ordered pizza in advance. I asked my husband to help me. He went to Costco and got all the drinks, all the snacks. I hired a water slide, and I also have a lifeguard to help with the pool. And some parents are going to show up and help me wrangle these kids. It has not taken me more than a couple of hours to plan. I'm not making food. I'm not out there putting grapes on cocktail sticks and all the crazy things that I used to do before, the handmade treats and all the things. And while sometimes I may do things like that when I have extra time, right now, I want an easy summer. And so everything I do, I'm trying to make it very easy. Okay? I want you, until we have this webinar, I want you to start thinking about how can I make things easy?

Now if you're pausing and you're like, "No, summer is hard." I want you to know I have been there. I have dreaded summer. I have had anxiety in my tummy. I have found a new way. I'm going to share it with you. Okay? So do not feel alone. You are not alone. We have a Facebook group. We're already in there coaching. Go get some coaching. Go be around other people who are feeling the same way as you to feel supported. This does not have to be a lonely journey. You can work on your companies that you do from home, your online businesses. You can push into your goals that you have. You do not have to delete everything because of summer. I promise you. Okay?

And I know that many of us, and I am so guilty of it, are like all or nothing, right? Like it's either all company or it's all kids. Like it can't be both. And I promise you that's not true. It's just not. And I'm going to show you why, how, and all the things, but sign up for the webinar. I'm going to go have an incredible pool party with my kids. And today is an example, right? I'm spending the morning working on my company, creating amazeballs podcasts for you last-season lads, creating content that I think is going to make your life easier. And then I'm going to go be a fun mom.

And tomorrow I'm going to do something similar. Tomorrow I'm having a photo shoot with my kids, right? You're going to get to see these images, because they're going inside of the easy-summer booklet that is being created for you. Okay? And I'm going to have a fun photo shoot with the kids. But before that I'm going to do some work. So we're going to set your kids up for an amazing summer, and we're going to do it by having an easy summer because I promise you lassies, you are the anchor. You are the one who will set the tone. If you are struggling, if you are grumpy, if everything feels hard, guess what? It feels like that for everyone because kids do not know how to filter that.

They do not know how to not take on your energy that you're giving off, the stress you're giving off. So let's not do that. Okay? We're going to make a plan. Interruptions are going to be a part of the plan. Play is going to be a part of the plan. Life is going to be a part of the plan. This week, I have had a child with a heart monitor on that he had to wear. I have had a child at the hospital for chronic psoriasis that she's experiencing. I have also been sitting at a table with all male venture capitalists working on a deal and a company I'm a part of. I've also had Empowered Life people here. I've also made time for my sobriety.

We can do all of these things. We don't have to put our life on pause because of summer. I promise you. And I want to help you do that. You guys, you lassies and lads, are amazeballs. Follow all of the links in the show notes. Sign up for the webinar. Join our private Facebook group. Get coached by me in there for free. Okay? I've got your back.

I always say to my clients, I have you until you have you. Okay? So I promise. That's my promise to you lassies. I have you until you have you. Okay? All right. I hope you have an amazeballs day. If you love this episode, please share it with your friends and your family. Tag me on Instagram, Coach Mummabear. I love to see that you guys are getting value from this and anytime you have an idea, send it to me. This podcast is for you. All right, lassies, have an amazeballs day. Bye.
