LGBTIQA+  & RAINBOW FAMILIES -  Creating emotionally safe access to family law services

Rainbow Families and members of the LGBTQIA+ community face a variety of challenges and unique circumstances when it comes to family law.

Historically, family law has operated under heteronormative assumptions, considering male-female relationships and traditional family structures as the norm.

Hence there are remaining biases that influence the way our family law system treats members of LGBTQIA+ families and/or  the perception LGBTIQA+ members have of the family law system.

This is a guest episode with Catherine Giles, who is a partner at Nicholes Family Law, based in Victoria.

Nicholes Family Lawyers are committed to ensuring access to justice for the LGBTIQA+ community and specialises in providing legal guidance for its members. Nicholes advise their LGBTIQA+ clients on various legal matters including donor agreements, parentage, assisted reproduction and IVF.
