Welcome to 2024.

I offered a workshop the last Saturday of 2023 designed to help women decide for themselves their desires for the new year. We followed a specific framework to help them bring to the forefront all that they hoped for in 2024.

Of course our brains are going to offer up all the reasons why achieving our dreams will be hard. That is exactly why I shared with them my failproof strategy to create new beliefs around achieving hard things.

Hi, I am Kristy Ballard Fellini. I am a certified life coach who found herself at 42, freshly divorced kids off to college and having never dated in my adult life. I was starting in the middle. If you haven't yet hit start on your middle time in life, let's do it together. Let the journey begin. Hello, hello, my friends, welcome back to the podcast and welcome to 2024. I mean, can you believe that this is where we are at already? I am just kind of an on blown away that here we are, 2024 already.

Kristi:

So for the month of December, I gifted you an opportunity to re-listen to some of my favorite podcasts from 2023. And in doing so, it was also a gift to myself, because I was able to take a short break from recording my podcast, and it was such a great thing, a great gift that I was able to give myself, because I was able to slow things down in December. Now I know that the majority of the time, december is full of hustle, bustle. December is full of parties here, parties there, get together here, doing all of the preparations for the Christmas and New Year holiday, and so giving you the gift of my favorite episode again was a gift for me as well, so here we are, back in the swing of things and in a brand new year. How exciting is that? So if this is the first time that you are listening to this podcast, I want to introduce myself.

Kristi:

My name is Kristi Fellini and I am a certified life coach. I help women stop just existing in their lives. In times, we let struggles of relationships, struggles of feeling unfulfilled in our lives, struggles in general, hold us back from who it is that we were truly meant to be, and so we find ourselves in a season of life where we just feel stuck, we just feel stagnant, we aren't in creative mode and we feel like we are just existing. And so I help my clients find their way out of that season. I help them to personally grow within themselves, to help them develop who it is that they want to be during this season of their life. I help them to create more meaningful connections with the people that they love, and sometimes that means making new connections in order to continue to grow into who it is that you were meant to be. I help them to discover and create more meaningful moments and, especially, more joy in their lives. So if this sounds like you, you are in excellent company and, again, I appreciate you being here.

Kristi:

So, to kick off 2024, I first started by hosting a leveling up workshop. The workshop happened on December 30th, no-transcript. I shared some amazing tools with the people who attended that there's just no way that I could not bring them to the podcast and share them on the podcast as well, and so, if you did not have the opportunity to attend that workshop, this is perfect timing for you. So, first of all, if you would like to see the replay of the workshop, all you have to do is shoot me an email, christy, at ChristyFelaneyCoachingcom, and I will be more than glad to provide that video replay for you. Also, there is a workbook that I created that goes along with the workshop. So what I'll do is I will post a link inside the show notes today so that you can at least access the workbook and go through some of the practices that I'm going to talk to you about today that I actually did with my clients inside the workshop.

Kristi:

So the first thing that we did was we brainstormed some ideas of what it is that you truly want for yourself in 2024. And I encouraged my attendance to please just have an open mind and an open heart. The cool thing about doing this after the fact is that you can hit pause on this podcast and you can sit down and take the time that you truly want to in order to brainstorm all of these ideas. And so, again, I encourage you. As you're doing this brainstorming, I want you to dig deep into what it is that you really want for yourself in 2024. Maybe it's something that you have been craving for yourself for some time and you just have not yet figured out how to bring it into fruition. Maybe it's something that you have been thinking about for some time, but you've been telling yourself that it's just not for you. So I want you to take some time and really brainstorm what it is that you would like to see change, what you would like to see more of, how you would love to expand yourself in 2024, how you would love to expand yourself in general. Really think about what it is that you want, what you desire, what you have been craving.

Kristi:

Now I know that sometimes we can look at an empty piece of paper and think I've really got no great ideas. I don't know what it is that I want to move forward, and so I want to give you permission to use sentence stem. All right, if anything were possible. And then just run with it, take some time and just really fill up that paper If anything were possible. What would I want to create If anything were possible? What would I want to experience If anything were possible? What would I want to accomplish? All right, now, once you go through this brainstorming process, I promise you, as you read over it again and you start thinking about a plan to put in place for yourself, your brain is automatically going to offer you some speed bumps.

Kristi:

All right, that's what our brain does. It looks for ways to keep us safe. Right, and so what happens is that our brain offers us all these thoughts that cause us to doubt. It offers us all these thoughts as to why what we are desiring is not possible. Okay, and when we allow these thoughts into our thought process, it slows us down from the progress that we want, and sometimes it even puts a halt to us even moving forward into trying to create what it is that we actually desire. So, after you've created your list of these are the things that I'm desiring, these are the things that I'm craving, then the next thing I want you to do is I want you to write down what it is that your brain is telling you about, why you can't have these things on your list. Okay, write down all of the things that your brain is telling you like why is it hard, why is it impossible? I want you to write down all of these thoughts that your brain is bringing up to you as speed bumps. Okay, and I promise you your brain is going to do it. Okay, your brain is going to tell you change is hard. Let's just stay the way that we are. Okay, but I know that you are craving more. So write down your desires than write down your speed bumps. All right, because what we're going to do next is we're going to challenge those speed bumps because you guys, I promise you, everything you already have in life is the direct reflection of what you believed. So we need to create new beliefs around the things that we want. So that's why we need to challenge those speed bumps.

Kristi:

Alright, so inside the workbook, I give you specific questions that you need to ask. So, if you're anything like me, your brain brought up all kinds of speed bumps, all kinds of reasons as to why what you're desiring isn't possible, right? So I want you to look at your list of desires, choose three to four of them, or maybe two to three, whatever you want. But if you're anything like me and I love to dream big right, I had a whole list of things that I was desiring for 2024. But what I want you to do is I want you to narrow it down to the most important ones. Okay, so, maybe two to three. This is a good place to start. Then what you're going to do is you're going to take those speed bumps from those two to three desires that you truly want. Look at the speed bumps, okay, the reasons your brain tells you it's not possible. And then I want you to take those thoughts through a series of questions.

Kristi:

Alright, I'm going to share with you one of the things that I am desiring for myself in 2024 is less anxiousness, and when I think about creating less anxiousness in my life, my brain automatically pops up things like there's too many things on your plate. There's too many tasks to be done on a day to day basis. You have too many things that you need to do in order to continue on your entrepreneurial path. Okay, these are just some of the examples that my brain is bringing to mind right now. Okay, and so let's take that thought you have too many things on your plate, okay.

Kristi:

So what I'm going to do with that speed bump is I'm going to take it through a series of questions. First thing I'm going to ask it is that true? Is it true that I have too many things on my plate? Okay, and then I'm going to determine I'm I may even go through the practice of maybe listing some things out, right, but I'm really going to ask myself is that a true statement? And then the next question that I'm going to ask is what else could be true? Alright, and then I'm going to think about all of the things that could be true.

Kristi:

Maybe it is true that I have the exact number of things on my plate, or the things on my plate are exactly what I need, right. And so what I'm doing now is I am creating new thoughts for myself. And then the last thing that I need to ask myself is what is it that I want to believe? Okay, around this thought, there's too many things on my plate, and what I want to believe Is that I have the exact number of things on my plate. Okay, I have exactly the number of things that I need something to that effect. Okay, and this is the new belief that I want to create for myself. And then, once I create this new belief, I get to check in with my body and see how it feels, because when I'm telling myself I have too many things on my plate, of course my brain goes to this automatic checklist, right, and I start to create this anxiousness in my body of can I get these things all done? And all these other questions pop up. So I'm asking myself what is it that I want to believe? And I truly want to believe that there is the exact number of things on my plate.

Kristi:

Okay, and so what I need to do now is I need to start putting this new belief into practice, because when we decide that we want to believe something new, we have got to practice it in order to solidify it. So once I've determined that new belief, I need to start putting it into a daily practice. So what I have been doing is, every single day in my journaling, I am writing down these new beliefs. I am not concentrating on every little thing that's going on in my life right now. I am solidifying and I am creating that new belief by writing it down every single day. When I write it, I am processing it in different ways. I'm not just speaking it to my brain, but I'm also getting it out of my brain and on to paper, and that is the practice that helps me to solidify it. Also, I am being very aware of when my brain is feeling anxious around having too many things on my checklist, and so when I notice those old thoughts start to pop up, I immediately go back to this new belief. I have the exact number of things on my plate.

Kristi:

Another practice that you can do is you can start sharing these new beliefs with an accountability partner. This accountability partner, somebody that is close to you, somebody that you trust, somebody that you spend time with, so that, when they notice this old way of thinking start to come back up, they can help you, they can remind you. Okay, and so these are all of the practices that I taught on during my leveling up 2024 workshop. All right, defining the desires and cravings that you want for yourself in 2024, pulling out the speed bumps that are going to hold us back from creating what we want, rethinking those speed bumps and creating new beliefs, creating the beliefs that we want to believe that are going to help us achieve what it is that we want in 2024.

Kristi:

And then the last practice that we did to really bring this all together and bring it to a focal point is we created no-transcript. We brainstormed a word of the year. Okay, so we did all of this work and we brainstorm what is one word that will help me to focus in on the desires and the beliefs that I want to have, and so inside the workbook, there is a list of several different possibilities. So if you print out the workbook and you go through this practice and even if you don't print out the workbook, go through the practice and think of a word that will help you to focus in on what it is that you want to create. There's going to help tie everything together and utilize this word to help you to stay focused, to help you stay on the path of what it is that you are truly desiring to create for yourself in 2024.

Kristi:

Like I said, we had an amazing time at this workshop. We had so many things bubble to the surface and the feedback that I got from the women who attended just has been phenomenal. This is exactly why I wanted to bring this to the podcast, because I didn't want to keep it in such a small container, because I know that this work can help so many women achieve the things that they want in 2024.
