Vision: Do You Know Where You're Going

Kristi Ballard Falany Episode 168

Ever feel like living up to expectations has left you feeling drained and disconnected? I’m Kristi Falany, and in this episode, we’re talking about what happens when you choose yourself, embrace self-discovery, and shed the distractions that keep you from being your true self.

I’ll share how letting go of societal pressure can create space for deeper connections and a stronger sense of purpose. We’ll also explore the power of having a clear vision for your life and taking the first steps to turn those thoughts into real change.

Think of it like an acorn growing into a tree—your dreams can flourish when you nurture them with intention and courage. So, if you’re ready to step out of “just existing” and into a more meaningful life, join me. Next week, we’ll dive into managing time effectively, but for now, reflect on where you are and where you want to go. If you need support along the way, I’m here as your life coach to help guide your transformation.

Thanks for listening. Follow me in Facebook and Instagram.

Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the podcast. If this is your first time joining me, I am Christy Fellini. I'm a certified life coach and I love helping women to stop just existing in their lives. So for the next couple of weeks inside the podcast, I have an amazing opportunity for you. Inside the podcast, I have an amazing opportunity for you. A couple of weeks ago, I did a five-day challenge called Undistracted. Inside that five-day challenge, we had some amazing breakthroughs in the five different topics that we talked about, and so if you did not have an opportunity to come to the challenge live over the next several weeks, I am bringing you the recordings because I do not want you to miss out on this opportunity to listen and to have your own breakthroughs in these areas of your life.

Speaker 1:

So if you did not get a chance to listen to last week's episode, I encourage you at some point to go back and listen to it. You don't have to listen to that topic in order to get what you need out of today's topic. Each one of these topics are a standalone opportunity for you to have an amazing breakthrough in your life, but last week we did talk about getting real and how important it is for you to embrace your true, authentic self in order to have the lasting, deep connections that I know that you truly want in your life. But let's talk about what you're going to get out of this week's episode. This week's episode is all about choosing you, so are you ready for it? Enjoy Day one man. Such a fabulous day, so much interaction inside our Facebook page and a lot of good things going on inside there. What an amazing way of encouraging each other, showing up for yourself. Showing up for yourself and really digging deep into the distractions that might keep you from being authentically you, okay, and so I just wanted to touch on that for just a second.

Speaker 1:

The things that we talked about yesterday, because I know how exhausting it can be to be trying to show up as someone that everybody's going to like, trying to keep up with the latest trends, the latest fashions, trying to keep up with all of those things, and all of those things are just distracting from who you really are. All of those things create so much drama in your head where I feel like right now, we are just being called to be ourselves authentically, and I know for myself, I know from the experience of coaching other women and listening to them talk and listening to the things that are on their heart, that they truly just want more connection. They want more connection in their female relationships, they want more connections with their family members, they want more connection with their spirituality. And when we just cut away all of those distractions, then we're able to totally just be our true, authentic selves and I also shared with you some ways of being authentic. And when you lean into those things is when you really start creating the connections that you want, when you start letting down all those walls, all of those barriers, and just being who you are, you start letting the right people in and you start making those true connections.

Speaker 1:

So today we are talking about vision and we're talking about choosing you okay, vision and choosing you. If you did not already know this, or maybe you just haven't ever thought about it, everything in your life is first created in your mind, and not just your life. Everything is first created as a thought. This right here was first a thought. This right here was first a thought, okay, so this is where it all happens first. So I encourage you you must have a vision for where it is that you want to go, all right, okay, a vision for where it is that you want to go, all right, okay.

Speaker 1:

So I want you to answer some questions, and I need to put all three of these up here because they are out of order. I want you to think about this when do you see yourself in a week? Where do you see yourself in a year? Where do you see yourself in five years? Yourself in a year? Where do you see yourself in five years? Do the answers to these questions pop up right away? Because these are things that when you have a true, clear vision and you are choosing you, the answer should come pretty easy.

Speaker 1:

So remember that everything first starts with a thought. A thought expanded on begins to take motion. Okay, think about an acorn. When an acorn gets implanted into the ground, it doesn't just sit there as an acorn, right, things start to happen, right. So that's the same thing with your thought process when you think upon something, things should start to happen that lead you to motion, and then the motion not emotion, the motion expanded upon begins to form a creation. But everything first starts with the thought. Okay, so those things, those, those uh action items are those uh areas where you said this is where I know I'm going to be in a week. This is where I know I'm going to be in a year. This is where I know I'm going to be in five years. All of those things are, at this point, just a thought. And then, when you start visualizing them and creating them in your mind, is what starts to set in that motion? Okay. And when you expand upon that, that's when we start creating. But here come those distractions, here come those things that are going to hold us back from getting in motion. Okay, maybe it's a safety thing. Maybe you're thinking, yes, I truly want this, but how's it going to work? Am I safe where I'm already at? Well, I already know this space, right, I already know how my life is going now. And so what happens is that we allow the familiarity to keep us where we're at Waiting for permission okay, waiting for others to approve right.

Speaker 1:

You may have a thought in your mind, and maybe you take it to your girlfriends and you talk it over, whatever, and what you're really doing is seeing you're checking in with them to say, huh, yeah, that sounds like a great idea. No, don't wait for permission. Or maybe you're telling yourself God, please send me a sign. If I have that sign, I'll know that it's from you and I can go forward. I'm going to tell you something about that today Living by the rules. Okay, we get caught up in this because we were told, maybe, what life was supposed to look like, we were modeled what life was supposed to look like and our family just automatically set in our brains this is what we're supposed to do. And so we think, oh yeah, we bring in all those shoulds right when we should. On ourself. I should be doing this, I should be doing that. Right, those are all just made up rules. You guys. Somebody created in their mind as a thought that this is what we should be doing. Okay, and then they set it in motion for themselves. So maybe that rule is not for you.

Speaker 1:

I was working with a coach last week and I love what she said around rules. She said I live by the rules that I make up. I live by the rules that I make up Because how many times do we do something because somebody else says that we should do it, or we do something because somebody else wants us to do it right? So I expanded upon that. I said I like this, I'm going to adopt it. I live by the rules that I make up and that come from above. So that was my adoption and I'm living into that and I'm loving it.

Speaker 1:

And then again, we talked about the distraction of everyone else's expectations. Of everyone else's expectations. So think for just a minute how are these distractions keeping you from knowing where I'm going to be next week, where I'm going to be in a year, where I'm going to be in five, and what it is that you want to create in your life, okay? So, like I said, I'm going to answer and I'm going to speak to that. Please, god, send me a sign. Hey, if it's in here, there's your sign. Okay, if he is placing it on your heart, he's already given you permission. You don't have to wait for your sign. If he's placed it on your heart, he's already given you permission to go for it and to release it into the world. So here's where the choose you part comes in, okay, and your vision in okay, and your vision.

Speaker 1:

So what I want you to think about, or I want to ask you, is you have these ideas of where you're going to be next week, where you're going to be in a year, where you're going to be on your mind in the next five years. But do you have these images of being that person and already having that in your mind? Do you have your vision already implanted as images in your mind? So in order to do that, that means that you have to expand upon that thought. You have to create the image in your mind and bring it up often. Bring that image up often Whenever you're thinking about trying something new or you're thinking about incorporating something new. Bring that image into your mind.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and this is what it means to expand upon the thought, all right, and then hold that vision with faith and purpose. With faith and purpose and what I mean by purpose is envision yourself doing the steps right. So, not just for me, it's. I want to have a new house, and so what are the steps that it's going to take? I already have that vision in my brain of what my house is going to look like. I already have that vision in my brain of Ron and I already being there, already having the space that we need, the storage that we need, already having those things. And so what are the action steps? What is the purpose that I'm going to do to help me get there, all right, and I have to be in this posture of believing that it is for me, okay. And so those distractions that we talked about earlier, the distractions that we talked about in August we have to keep those distractions out of our mind and out of our thought processes. All right.

Speaker 1:

So, your vision, take that thought, expand on it, because that's what sets it in motion. Create those mental images in your mind. Remember that if God placed it on your heart, it is for you. You have his permission. So believe that by faith and by purpose, by the action that it is for you. Okay, here is your heart. Work for this, for today. And you don't have to worry about copying these down.

Speaker 1:

Remember, I'm going to set it inside the Facebook page, but I wanted to bring it to you so that you can already kind of have it on your brain. But I want you to think about can you answer those questions when am I going to be in a week? Where am I going to be in a year? Where am I going to be in five years? What has been placed on your heart? And then I really want you to get real with yourself, get authentic, be brave, be truthful, be unselfish. How much time do you currently spend envisioning that? Can you see all the details? What is distracting you from creating that vision? So remember, this is going to be inside the Facebook page for you when we get off today.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's talk about distractions again. Why are you not already living into your purpose? What are some of the things that are distracting you from living into your purpose or creating those visions for yourself? Now, remember, temporary circumstances. I'm kind of going through this here at my house right now, and it's not so much me, but it was me when I had my foot surgery. So right now, my husband's dealing with this nose surgery that he had and the all the pain that he's in. It's like taking over right now. It's like taking over right now. And I had to remind him honey, this is a temporary circumstance, right, this is temporary. The pain that you're feeling now is going to get better, okay, so are you allowing temporary circumstances to distract you from your vision?

Speaker 1:

Definitely thinking about the past. If your brain goes to the past, right, of how it hasn't worked in the past or how things didn't work out for you in the past. Therefore, it's fogging your vision for the future. Okay, thinking too far into the future and being in worry, okay. Or worrying about where you're at right now, where your feet are at right now. Remember, yesterday I talked to you about starting where you stand. So if right now you're worried and it's distracting you from creating that vision, start right now deciding today what the distractions are and how you're going to combat them. Okay, regrets doesn't do us any good.

Speaker 1:

Comparison Sometimes we look at where other people are at and we allow that distraction to come into our minds of I'll never get there. That's not for me. Look at how wonderful their life is, but maybe I'm not worth that type of thing, okay. So comparison envy of course hurts. Resentments, misunderstanding, shame, guilt, low expectations, right. Sometimes we allow that to distract ourselves. Yesterday I was listening to one of my favorite podcasters and she was talking about how, when we have low expectations or when we are procrastinating, when we're not using all of our time you know the time and energy that we've been given we're procrastinating, that we're allowing that distraction to keep us from moving forward on our vision. And you guys, have you ever just quit on something? Have you ever just said no, it's not working, I'm not going to do it? I did that in the first business that I created, and man did. I regret it, and so quitting, just quitting, and not giving it enough time, not giving it your full belief, is a distraction, okay. So remember that if you have any questions, if anything's popping up for you right now, jot them down in the chat.

Speaker 1:

I wanted to share with you today the research that I've done and the three books that inspired me to even move forward with this five-day challenge. So one of the biggies is, of course, the book Undistracted by Bob Goff, and here's how undistracted I got. You'll notice I've got all kinds of pages that are highlighted written in the margins. People don't like to borrow books from me because I already told them what to think about it Inside the margins. The other one, the science of getting rich. Okay, if this is something that you are excited about, I would suggest that you don't buy the 1910 version because the language that he uses I seriously sometimes have had to use chat GTP to say, hey, can you tell me what this means in a more plain, concise version? Or I've also had to read it out loud and really think about it. So if this is something that you're interested in, get the more up-to-date version. It's still by Wallace Waddles. And then the last one.

Speaker 1:

What's true about you changing reminders of who God says that you are? What I love about this is there are 365 different things in here different scriptures, different passages and I like to just kind of flip through and just randomly pick one and see what he has for me that day. All right, I hope that you enjoyed this episode and I hope that you walk away from it understanding how important it is for us to have a vision of where it is that we want to go in our lives. Where it is that we want to go in our lives, because having a vision of what is next and the goals that you are working towards is what is going to help you to stop just existing in your life. So tune in again next week, because next week we are talking about where in the heck all of our time goes all right, because I think that you are going to be surprised as to how distracted we can be in utilizing our time as we are working towards our goals.

Speaker 1:
