Depuis sa fondation, le monastère de l’Hôpital général de Québec est l’acteur et le témoin de nombreuses pages importantes de l’histoire du pays : les débuts de la colonie, les soins aux plus démunis, la guerre de Conquête, les grands incendies de Québec. Les lieux gardent la mémoire de personnages célèbres : Mgr de St-Vallier y a vécu, le comte de Frontenac y avait une résidence, Louis Hébert et le marquis de Montcalm y reposent. Aujourd’hui encore et ce depuis 1693, le soin des personnes âgées est au cœur de la vocation de ce bâtiment historique.
