My First Job In Sports

As a leader in Sports Market Analytics, SBRnet has always prioritized the ability to share industry knowledge with students/young professionals. Since the start of the pandemic, it has been harder than ever for students to connect with professionals. The My First Job In Sports podcast was created to bring together industry professionals and students pursuing a career in sports. That way, not only would professionals be able to share what they wish they knew prior, but students will also be well prepared and know what to expect once they obtain that first job in sports.

Dr Ashley Gardner

Dr. Ashley Gardner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management at Temple University. With a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Sport Studies, specializing in Sport Management and Sociology, her academic expertise lies in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion within sport organizations. Gardner's research explores racial diversity, human resource management, and career mobility strategies for people of color in the sports industry. Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned a Master's in Sport Management from the University of Michigan and most importantly, a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from the illustrious Hampton University.
