Most business owners set goals in January... and abandon them by February. Why? Because they're missing the critical second step of strategic planning.

In this week's Maggie's Moment, I'm sharing my two-part approach to annual planning that ensures your goals don't just sound good—they actually happen.

In this episode, you'll discover:

• Why most annual planning approaches are completely backwards

• The two essential components of strategic planning that actually works

• The part most people miss: breaking strategy into daily actions

• How to create a roadmap that keeps you focused all year long

• Why having structure means you're not just busy—you're moving forward

Plus, I'm inviting you to join me for Design Your Success 2026—a complimentary 2-day virtual planning event where we'll create your strategic vision AND your actionable roadmap together.

Event Dates: • November 18-19, 2025 | 2:00-5:00 PM EST or

Can I be honest about something? Most small business owners approach annual planning completely backwards. They sit down in December or January, which is a bit late. Get excited about their goals, create this beautiful vision for the year, and by mid-February, those goals are collecting dust while they're back to react While.

The business owner is actually back to reacting to whatever's in front of them. Here is what I do differently and what I teach my clients to do.

Strategic planning isn't just about setting goals. It's about two things. First, thinking strategically about where you want your business to go in 2026, so that it gets you closer to your longer term vision, three to five years out. So not just random goals that sound good, but intentional thinking and brainstorming is what do I need to do in the new year to be successful?

Not only short term, but also long term. And then second, which is what most business owners miss, is breaking down these goals into strategies and projects that you will implement throughout the year. And then deciding which of them go into which quarter of the year. And once you have that, then it's about breaking down the strategies into weekly and daily actions, creating a roadmap that gives you guidance on what you are actually going to do day in and day out in your business.

Because when you have that structure. You know exactly what to prioritize. You know exactly what to focus on, and you know that when you take those actions, you're not just busy, but you're actually moving your business forward to the next level that you want. And that is exactly what we're going to do together at the Design

your success 2026. Event. It's a complimentary two-day virtual planning event where we will create together your strategic vision and then break it down into actionable roadmap you can use throughout the entire year to keep you focused. Organized and on track to achieve your goals. I have two dates that you can choose from November 18, 19th, or December 10th and 11th.

If you wanna join us, email me at maggie@starwaytoleadership.com with your preferred dates, and also let me know what's your biggest challenge in moving your business to the next level. This way I can help you design your breakthrough year together. Now, know that spots are very limited. I'm going to keep these events in small groups so everybody gets value.

And everybody will have an ability to interact, workshop, and mastermind together. So. Because of that, I only take on committed people who are willing to show up, willing to do the work, and then willing to implement. I hope to see you there.
